Scott Embry’s Friday Broome Preview Posted on July 22, 2021July 22, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CHEVAL DE VAGA was a much improved effort at his second start in Broome. He was able to punch up in behind horses, sit in the box seat and travel throughout the race when finishing thid behind Big Blows and Slick Unit in a 58+. Drops back into a C1 and if Bonnie Palise can get him out and keep The Fibonacci in his sights he can make a race of it. THE FIBONACCI was a different horse when finding the front. He won his maiden by the length of the straight and if Jerry Noske is allowed to cross to the fence it’s game on. SUNDAY AT SIX is drawn underneath him and expected to come out running. SCENIC JOURNEY has her first start on the dirt, keep safe. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – CHEVAL DE VAGA WIN RACE 2 MISS ELLMYA is blisteringly quick and toughed it out well last start at 1200m. Is the proven commodity in this grade coming back from a 70+ into a 58+ where she won by 2L over 1000 when beating home rivals Classy Lassy and Danehill Storm. Importantly is drawn underneath other speedsters Lies N Deception, King of Planets and Classy Lassy. If Galati finds the front, she’ll take running down. KING OF PLANETS is in the form of his life and is loving the fact that Rosie Mahony is riding him with aggression. DANCE COCKEY should position up nicely underneath the speed. CLASSY LASSY is talented but could be deep throughout. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – MISS ELLMYA WIN RACE 3 SONG OF VINCENT was scratched from a recent Broome meeting and comes into this on the fresh side 26 days between runs. The most recent 70+ win at 1300m was dominant when holding off Kennedy and Strike Force. Is drawn inside both Molten and Salorsci so Bonnie Palise should be able to punch her way through to find the fence and that is a big bonus. SALORSCI brings real X-Factor and excitement to the race. Rosie Mahony brings the weight down to a winnable 59.5kg and if the real Salorsci turns up he’ll be very hard to win. MOLTEN scored a fighting win last start from the breeze. Looks like finding the same position here. DESERT THORN is still chasing hard and still going well. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – SONG OF VINCENT WIN RACE 4 SIRIUS MAGIC looks Chris Parnham’s best opportunity to pinch a winner at Broome on a Friday. Clearly a horse who has had some issues throughout his career but his best is definitely stronger than what the rest bring to the table. Winner of an Ascot 1400m C3 and placed second in a Northam C5 1300m. Seems to go much better when sitting up over the speed and from the draw gets that opportunity. STEVIES WONDER is the stablemate and in a very similar preparation resumes off over 300 days. Drawn awkwardly and has weight but also has class. THE WISE ONE and MUST RUSH are both taking on their toughest opposition to date but both have speed to burn. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – SIRIUS MAGIC WIN RACE 5 OMBUDSMAN was drawn awkwardly last start and looked vulnerable. Never got the right run, never looked likely. Now he finds himself in probably the most suitable race of his preparation to date a C2 1800m and is drawn a gate. Jess Gray is riding the NW particularly well and he gets his chance to out stay his opponents. STUMBLE won impressively at 1435 before backing up off 7 days and not firing a solitary shot. Forgive and forget effort. HOOLAHOOPS has promised to win a race all preparation and has done nothing wrong in any of her runs. BRING EURO should almost find the front and if she does, she’ll take running down. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – OMBUDSMAN WIN RACE 6 BIG BLOWS has been a wonderful acquisition for trainer/rider Michelle Hagley and deserves to pick up one of these NW cups. Went on a Broome winning spree back in 2019 when winning three in a row before things went wrong in the 2019 Kimberley Cup when going round an even money favourite. Super win last start against the pattern on a day when 5 of the 7 winners settled in the first 2. Looks to be going well again. DECEPTION GAME was the other ‘off-speed’ winner on that program when put into the race out deep by Cups King Peter Hall. Surely the old boy has another trophy in him before retirement. STRIKE FORCE has hit form at the right time after coming back down in the ratings. ULUSABA the unknown. Didn’t go a yard first-up in Broome, but neither did Deception Game. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – BIG BLOWS WIN RACE 7 CRASH HAT LADY found the front last start and that saw the best of her. Her previous runs were excellent and she looks the ideal type of mare to continue her way through the grades this preparation and be a mare who they can still have fun with in the 2022 season. Expecting her to be ridden for speed and try to break them open from the 800m. UNBREAKABLE should be kicking up underneath to track her through throughout. RAYARNIE will be up for the fight as a stayer at the mile. FERNGROVE is going better than numerical form suggests. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – CRASH HAT LADY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4 1,2,4,6 1,3,4,6,7 2,3,4,7,8 Market Market
