Scott Embry’s Friday Albany Preview Posted on December 8, 2022December 9, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GOOD SONG has trialled well on two occasions now. Once at Albany over 1000m when a narrow second under Tash Faithfull and then when winning his trial under Rosie Mahony at Barker. Drawn a reasonable alley on debut and a race without any stars. Should run well from what we’ve seen at trials. PICK AND PAY is a long time maiden but is racing well and love the fact Alan Kennedy jumps aboard. RARECHINO is going better than numerical form suggest. SQUILLIONARE ran well on debut and should only improve with racing. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – GOOD SONG WIN RACE 2 WIN TO RETIRE caught the eye at trials when finishing off sharply up along the inside fence at Lark Hill under Jess Valenti. Shaun O’Donnell rode her on debut and she never really got a crack at them at any stage. Thought all things considered she still hit the line really well through traffic and without being fully tested. Drops into a country maiden and gets her chance. ARID ran very well at Albany on debut behind talented stablemate Hang Glider. Willing to forgive plenty of horses out of the Mt Barker meeting on soaked track. WARRALEA DIAMOND trialled nicely alongside Good Song at Barker. Good indication of that trial form available in Race 1. LOOK HERE PUNK went close on numerous occasions for the previous stable. Numbers: 13 – 12 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – WIN TO RETIRE WIN RACE 3 BONAMICO deserves to break through. Super run at the opening meeting when it was near impossible to make any ground, huge run at Barker when caught three deep the trip and now third-up should be peaking. The obvious concern is the outside barrier that he’s drawn again. Hopefully has something to follow into the race. RUN TEDDY RUN ran well at Geraldton on debut and the winner and second horse from that race (Paint My Portrait and American Agent) both race on Thursday. ANGELS MY NAME finds this easier than recent assigments and has a set of shades attached. KUTSANYA has always promised to win a maiden but clearly still does plenty wrong. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – BONAMICO WIN RACE 4 WILD FUSION should be just about ready to win third-up. Ran third first-up behind Classic Magnus at 1100m, ran third second-up at 1200m behind Morgs Freman and Kendel’s Mee Dad and now steps out to a much more suitable 1500m. From the ideal draw Alan Kennedy can park him right up over the speed and he takes beating. LITTLE PUNGA is perennially underrated. He’s a tough horse to run down when he finds the top and an ideal apprentices horse. PHONEME was a big improver last start and 1500 is his sweet spot. MORTON’S FORK has returned to racing well. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – WILD FUSION WIN RACE 5 ELITE FIGHTER ran well first-up and then improved again second-up when winning. Drops 2.5kg coming from a C2 into a 58+ but some of his metro and provincial runs for his previous trainer measure up in this grade, including a second in a C3 to Indominus and a 4th to Grace Du Roi and Zadar Rock in a 3yo 0MWLY. COUNT THE SESSIONS should jump straight to the top and takes running down. THE GREAT ONE is racing lengths below his best but in this grade, he’ll find a race. OSO TEMPTING is going well. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – ELITE FIGHTER WIN RACE 6 LUVACHAT will get me one more time. Thought he was only fair first-up when looming and blowing out late. His second-up run got a lot of social media attention after his failed protest and now he steps up to 1500m. He’ll park behind the speed and in a sense of irony it’s Kyra Yuill who gets the nod to ride him. Has ability but is a bit wayward at times. Nice race for him. FUEL THE FRIAR has come back bigger and better this preparation and looks the one he’ll need to beat. Great run fresh and showed it was no fluke second-up. RISKY LYRICS is a great horse for these country class races. Big run at Gero. FLY BETTER has caught the eye in both runs back this time in. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – LUVACHAT WIN RACE 7 PRINCE RAGNAR simply didn’t turn up fresh. He over-raced badly and was calling for the oxygen tank at the 600, compounding badly to be beaten 9.5L. Drops 2kg, comes back to 1100m and has ear muffs added to his race gear. Don’t be surprised to see him bounce back. WITCH STREET won on debut like a filly who could make her way through the country grades. NIGHTS MYSTERY rises 3.5kg on his last start win and may need to park outside of Prince Ragnar and do it tougher. RED ORCA ran well at his return. Numbers: 1 – 11 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – PRINCE RAGNAR WIN RACE 8 SNEAKY FOX has been in form all preparation. Won back to back races to start the Albany season and then went to town for the Regional Championship final when running third behind Mr Causeway and Kohli in a Great Southern dominance of the Final. Gets 2kg on Mr Causeway and 0.5kg on Kohli but more importantly a far softer gate to work with. Hard to fault him. KOHLI loomed the winner on straightening but was no match late for Mr Causeway. That’s Kohli. MR CAUSEWAY was supported at odds and got the job done in style. Some sort of ride. SHAKE BABY SHAKE drops 4kg and can sit up over the speed. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – SNEAKY FOX WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3 1,4,8 1,2,3,5,11 2,3,5,6,9 Market Market
