Scott Embry’s Friday Albany Preview Posted on March 24, 2021March 24, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ROYAL WHISPER has done nothing wrong in two runs this preparation with back to back third placings. Each run has been looking for further and gets his opportunity. Kyra Yuill riding for Steve Wolfe may suggest he’s not the stable elect but we’ll back her in. REBEL MAN sat over the top of a ridiculously slow tempo last start. First 1000m were run 37L slower than maiden average (no, seriously). He looks a one batter who is better suited by a genuine speed. YUNA MAILMAN was plunged last start but punters who launched him missed the memo – he’s only a battler. DANTORIO is slowly improving. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – ROYAL WHISPER WIN RACE 2 BRAZEN ARROW is yet another Roy Rogers metro 3 year old who looks hard to beat at his first start in the Great Southern maiden company (think Dark Assault, Strathmore Rose, Captain Sharmane, Island Charm). First-up, no trial is the unknown but with any sprinkling of money jump on the bandwagon. BAYZEL improved sharply last start when Earl O’Loughlin put the shades on. If she reproduces, she’s hard to beat. MY NAMES STAR has promised to win a maiden all her life. Consistently knocking on the door. REDITTO put in his best effort yet at his most recent. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – BRAZEN ARROW WIN RACE 3 BRUTUS MAXIMUS looks very hard to beat at his Albany debut. Roy Rogers takes over training duties, comes into the race 7 weeks between runs and is drawn the inside gate with a cutaway in play. Has sufficient speed to box seat from the draw and his recent metro form around That’s Funny Az, No Apology, Bombardment and Rum Raker certainly looks the strongest in this race. AWESOME AS finds a new home and Malcolm Byas is starting to build a knack of improving these older tried types. CHASING CHAOS is always a chance sitting over the speed in this grade. WAR CLASS was bitterly disappointing last start. He’s better than that. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – BRUTUS MAXIMUS WIN RACE 4 FEELS HOT has been ultra consistent all preparation. Improved sharply since the shades have gone on and from the recent runs over 1850 and 1600 she should be hard to beat on the fresher side coming back in distance Looks a lovely book of rides for Madi Derrick and from the draw Feels Hot can sit right over the speed. Hard to beat. KAZKAZI is the horse she jumps off to ride Feels Hot. Going well, honest and consistent. AYASHA should roll to the top and control the tempo in a slowly run race. Gives her a chance. SASSATIONAL ran into Fangio the last time she came to Albany in a 58+. This is a much easier race than the Bracelet. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – FEELS HOT WIN RACE 5 DEEL RED, CLASSIC JACK, CORPORATE LARRIKIN and LOSING TICKET all come from the Mt Barker Cup which looks the obvious form reference. With the 40 day gap between runs and the rise of 690m going to risk Read The Riot Act (to an extent #Roy). CLASSIC JACK had absolutely no luck in that race when caught wide throughout. He was very well commissioned in betting and is worth following up on. DEEL RED was disappointing in the Cup when finishing a moderate 8th. With 2.5kg on Corporate Larrikin he can be a big improver. LOSING TICKET ran out of her skin. Going super and loves the 1900m. CORORATE LARRIKIN is impossible to fault. Leads and rolls. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – CLASSIC JACK WIN RACE 6 DARK ASSAULT returns to the Great Southern after being thrown back into the deep end last start in a high quality 3 year old handicap. Hot Zed, Secret Plan, Alpha and Omega, Iseered Iseered and Vadette De Star are all Saturday types and he was far from disgraced. Comes out running and can bounce straight back. MORGS FREEMAN returned well for Gerry Hughes and from the inside draw should get every chance in running. MAGIC OPUS has to be a big chance from the draw. Been racing well in 70+ recently. LACEVINSKY is a new addition to the SJ Wolfe yard and his metro form is super for an Albany C5. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – DARK ASSAULT WIN RACE 7 IBIZA was uncharacteristically slow away last start. Can spring the gates here and bounce on the early lead. If she holds out Cyclonical (should do) she controls the tempo and can give a big kick turning for home. No weight, 1000m type and had been really knocking on the door until last start. SHESAPOCKET ROCKET is kept fresh and seems to appreciate the spacing. MY BLUEBOY looks suited to sitting leader’s back with a cutaway. SUMUSU makes her WA debut and has reasonable East Coast form to her name. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – IBIZA WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4,8 1,2,5,6,7 1,2,3,6,8 1,2,3,4,8 Market Market
