Scott Embry’s Friday Albany Preview Posted on May 14, 2020May 13, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MAGNUSON MAN ran a solid race last start and should be able to sit outside the leader. From there he looks the best miler in the race and in the small field should get backers off to a good start. BLONDE WARRIOR continues to hit the line well. From the box seat looks the danger. MORGAN LE FAYE was doing her best work late last start but jumps up sharply in trip. HE’S GONSKI faded noticeably last week. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – MAGNUSON MAN WIN RACE 2 DON’T OVERTAKE should not be overtaken in this race, she should simply be winning. Has been placed at all four career runs and this looks by fa the weakest race she has contested. Likely opens up in the red and if she doesn’t she’ll jump in it. MY NAMES STAR comes back in trip to try something different. Should be able to hold a position from the draw. JACK IN THE BLACK could find the front in a race without speed. SUDDNLEY NOBLE next best from the soft draw. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – DON’T OVERTAKE WIN RACE 3 DEANGLES steps up to 1500 again after an attempt back in mid-April when running third behind Bootleg Rascal and Triggerfish. From the gate he can sit in the box seat and there is a cutaway on offer. Strong effort from an impossible position last week and should get the job done for loyal Steve Wolfe men. FAMILY CONNECTION is going particularly well and Jerry Noske has the option to take up the lead. MYGIRLFRANKIE doesn’t run any bad races. Could be looking for further than this but still a live hope. VICIOUS VILMA one to keep in the mix at a price. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – DEANGLES WIN RACE 4 MR MT WALKER is a talented 3 year old who heads to Albany for the first time in his life. His win in maiden grade at Pinjarra when leading all the way was strong, his effort three deep the trip behind Son of a God, Tommy Blue and Tradensia was huge and then last start was set an impossible task. Comes from Saturday 3 year old races into a C2 and jumps off the page. FANGIO looks the testing material after breaking maiden status soft last week. STARAUTHROESS looks like being a profitable investment for Peter Western & Co. Two good runs in the new stable. WHAT ABOUT MOSES is so much better than his last two efforts. Not sure what is going wrong. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – MR MT WALKER WIN RACE 5 MR PAGO is such a grand old campaigner. Would love to own one like him who wins at least one or two races every preparation and is still firing at the ripe age of 8. From the gate Knuckey can have him wherever he wants and on paper it looks a great day for him. MASS EFFECT is just as talented and will be winning far more races for seasons to come. Looks the logical danger and could be a Wolfe quinella. TAKE ME HOME HONEY has gone from strength to strength last few months for Paul Hunter. Leads without pressure and should be in the money. BERGIO next best from the back of the field. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – MR PAGO WIN RACE 6 POTENT SECRET comes back to Albany after a crack in town. He had been building towards his win and had been settling far better in his races. There is no Tranquilla Sunrise or Captivated Points in this field so he gets a great opportunity to win another race. MAGIC OPUS is thrown in the deep end into c70+ grade but drops a whopping 7kg on the 7 day back-up. From the gun draw keep her safe. SENSO is racing extremely well and deserves to win one. SIR SNUGALOT is better suited in this than he was at Ascot last weekend. Numbers: 1 – 11 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – POTENT SECRET WIN RACE 7 WILD FUSION has not been disgraced in metro races the last few months and now returns to the stables of Liam ‘Earl’ O’Loughlin and falls into a very winnable 58+ race. After the 3kg claim for Victoria Cover looks extremely well in and from the gate should enjoy the run of the race. Very hard to beat. KENDELS MEE DAD has had two runs in Albany for 2 wins and nothing to suggest he won’t take the step into the next grade. COLD AS COLD was completely unsuited by a walk last week. Forget he went round. REAL TARGET is a mad one for novelty players to include. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 12 Suggested Bet – WILD FUSION WIN RACE 8 WILLOW RIVER has been a revelation this season in the care of Bec Wallrodt. Shouldn’t have to do a tap of work from gate 1 and if she can settle three back the fence the cutaway run will present itself and provided the inside pad isn’t quicksand she’ll get her chance to gun them down again. ATHLONE CASTLE won well last start and should get every chance from the draw. APOLLO is a hard horse to catch but fresh seems to be best for him. Saved for one last crack at them he is a winning proposition. LADY STINGRAY is always a winning chance in this grade. Must respect. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – WILLOW RIVER WIN Quaddie (R5 – R8) 1,2,7 1,2,4,11 1 1,2,3,7 Market Market
