Handles middle draws and has the ability to find a spot here. The 6 goes fast but stays middle track so he can give this bloke the necessary room to get there early enough. Strong home. Race 3 No. 2 Ballistic Ant Gets a lovely map here but wouldn’t want the red getting away too far. Can track up here and she is strong enough to keep hitting the line and finish top 2 with a clear run. Don’t dismiss her here. She is ready to produce. Race 5 No. 3 Poppa Monno The one time “go around them” or nothing dog has turned into a more versatile performer now and is more than happy to take inside runs which will present here. Can lack dash early but generates a sustained run home up the back that will see him hit the frame here with any sort of clear run at all. EW bird if it all pans out. Race 9 No. 1 Mongolian Tiger Well he’s taking some time to break the maiden but this will be his best chance yet. Can really run home hard and with a few wide runners here it could get chequered for some and he will wind up to descend late. Top 2 contender here and can win if he’s close enough. THE MEADOWS Race 3 No. 8 Serena Bale Always a threat every time she drops back from the middle trip. Box is ok and while she can step, she is equally adept at coming from back. Will work home into this up the back and has a superb record here track and trip. Big show at the odds. Race 6 No. 7 Misty Black and No. 10 Apache Shout The 7 will start rank outsider here but she isn’t hopeless at all. Her heat run was quite good and she is getting better each time she steps out. Strong and can hit the frame with a good spot early. Keep an eye on the 10 if he gains a start. More than capable of any box and can surprise. Race 7 No. 7 Golden Ratio Consistent little staying type who has raced the better distance dogs lately and gets in well here. Double figures which is a little surprising and the small field suits perfectly. Will pass a few of these the longer this race goes and can hit top 2. Race 9 No. 8 Spanish Miss Ignore her form. Wasn’t that bad resuming last week in a very strong race and gets relief here at the grades. Will strip much fitter for the run and can handle the outside box. Steps ok and while she leads over the middle trips, she can come from back over the sprints and don’t dismiss her to figure here at a huge quote. Place heavy play. WENTWORTH PARK Race 4 No. 2 Asiram Box is key here and he gets his chance to settle more forward this time. Goes much better when he leads or is near the leaders and the draw and grade give him every chance to do that. Been racing tougher races and good EW show now. Race 6 No. 1 My Margarita Will wait for these 3 favs and leaders to sort themselves out then she will start her strong run home in this small field. A couple of these won’t be comfortable off the arm and that’s where she can run into the money if she can stay close enough at the double figures. Race 8 No. 1 Len Me Dad Good race here. The box should see him drive up and lead here or at least be right there. Can run time and has been racing well lately and for some time. Pearl hard to beat but she needs to cross the 5 and that’s all the red might need to get away here. WA OAKS PREVIEW (CANNINGTON) Race 6 (520m) No. 1 Bell Mac Blazer Boxed to be given every chance here but may not be enough. Her 5.55 is likely to see her cut off here in the run to the first turn and she is limited after that in terms of run home times. Probably needs the arm to get away with a win here as she struggles to break 30.0 on the clock especially from the back. Not completely out of it and is consistent but should be double figures. No. 2 Whatever Shorty The rank outsider. She can’t win all things being equal but she can run a race here. Has decent VIC middle distance form and while that was with her former kennel, and her heat run saw her beaten a fair way, she is one of few who can come from the back here and that’s a huge factor in this final. Lacks dash but if she can hold some sort of fence position at the first turn, she might sneak a run through a will get progressively stronger from there. Place heavy spec here because she is the wrong price. Back end first 4s etc as well. No. 3 Canya Mia Not convinced she’s at her absolute top and her heat run was only fair for her. Clung on to 2nd when she had a weak dog chasing her and while her best would be competitive here, it’s done when she gets the arm all to herself. With that unlikely to happen, she will probably struggle again from the draw and will need an awful amount of luck behind her to get the lure here. Prefer to leave her here. No. 4 Flying Freda Has burst on to the scene in style lately for Chris Halse. Ultra consistent from day 1 and only missed a place once since she started her career. Showed last week that her timing for this race is on song with a lid spearing all the way win in a fast 29.76 (5.50). Has brilliant box speed and crossed from 8 with a few brushes along the way and still cleared Tweak Freak by the first turn to race away easily. Better draw here but the downside may be by the 3 jumping quickly and staying straight for a time. That could hinder her enough early. If she finds the top however, she finds the Oaks trophy. Short enough now but has a huge chance. No. 5 Rippin’ Grace Lacks the early speed these other have and was very lucky at the first turn last week but she was clever enough to see what was transpiring and played her hand well. Went 29.80 untouched so in comparison with Flying Freda who worked across with a brush or two, it doesn’t bode well. However she can recover from a check or two where Flying Freda and co can not. Her middle and last sections are her main tools and her lack of brilliance is offset by her strength in a field where some of these will be out of their comfort zone when they can’t lead. Clear run and she will place and can win if there is trouble again early. No. 6 Disco Daisy Kennel a little bullish about her chances and she is getting better as she steps out each time. Has a 29.81 victory over the 4 dog and while she probably wants the arm asap, she can accelerate quickly off the mat. Box is tricky here and while she has a flopper in 5, she has a sharp in 7 who can make life hard for her here. Would need her all time best step and clear air to win but she does have a 5.43 to the mark that says this can happen. Chance. No. 7 Tweak Freak Almost bomb proof at box rise this little girl. Was led for pretty much the first time ever last week by Flying Freda but didn’t produce her customary dash as she likes to get 1 or 2 dogs away from the fence in the run to the first turn. Has delivered her 5.40 PB from this box as she has most of her quick first splits coming from wide draws. Will try and rush up and there is a chance she does cross but would need everything to go right for this to occur and does not run the overall time it takes to win this with her steady run home. Too much against her for mine. No. 8 West On Blossom Perfectly drawn here and ready to shake the life out of this. Can step, rush up, sticks on well and runs home. All the attributes for a winner and that she is….a 9 time winner from just 17 starts. Drove up beautifully in her heat to lead most the way with pressure outside and has a 5.44 early best here and went that fastest first split in the heats. Can deliver an overall of 29.80 and probably has more to give. Huge show here if she slides across and settles right there. Leave her out and there is a fair chance it could be very costly. Goes in. No. 9 West On Muffin Will struggle here if she gets a start. Wait for easier. No. No. 10 Elite Judan Would be making up the numbers if she got a start. No chance and needs it much easier and shorter. SummaryTremendous edition for the girls here and the run to the first turn as critical as ever in this. The 8 might just get over here and she has everything going for her after that. The dog inside can only help her and we will put her on top. There is surely going ti be some sort of trouble and that means the 5 gets the first turn run again and will hit the frame from there. The 2 is the smokie and while she needs a lot to go right early, she can keep coming and round out exotics. The 4 a huge show if she spears again and will take an awful amount of catching. Several chances here and will be a great race. Selections- 8-5-2-4 Market Market
