Harry Buchanan’s Saturday Greyhound Best Bets Posted on July 15, 2023 | Posted by TABtouch CANNINGTON Race 1 No. 7 Disco Trixie This has to be one of, if not her last chance here. No excuses in the small field against this lot. Has the superior run home and while she can take some time to wind up, she should stay close enough to run home over these late. She shouldn’t be missing top 2. Race 3 No. 2 Blessed Doll and No. 5 Couch Surfer The 2 continues to perform out of her skin and she is beautifully placed here in box 2 in this final. Ripped ground off Couch Surfer in the heat and constantly hits the frame with solid run homes. Can land closer here and take some holding out of the placings. Could win if the 5 finds trouble and he might here with what’s either side of him. The fact remains however he is the superior WA stayer and was superb in the heat while getting tired. Nothing can beat him all things equal so they need to push him out early if he is to go down and while he will get back with the map, he won’t stay there long. Should be too good. Race 4 No. 3 Kanji Giant Tremendous effort first up in the state last week. Stuck on gamely and never lost any ground at all. Former VIC dog who has run slick time at Sandown and The Meadows and will take a stack of benefit from that run and will put himself in this at odds. Race 7 No. 4 Ballistic Ant and No. 5 Sher Zany Two-dog race. While the lean is toward the 4, the 5 will take a stack of benefit from his first look here last week as well. Has a big middle section and when he gets the arm, he is hard to stop. The 4 should stop that happening however and that’s why we will play 4 and quinella the save. She was unlucky to get knocked around last week and will enjoy the smaller field. 4 the bet and save the exotics. Race 8 No. 6 Barrio Beast and No. 8 Super Charge The 6 has a class edge here and will use his muster to rush to the first turn and look for the arm solo. If he gets it then he can accelerate up the back and put this out of reach of the others. In saying that, if the 8 got on his hammer, he might need to dig and deep. Super run last week when he took ground off a strong dog and he’s well boxed here. Good EW save. Race 10 No. 4 Acing Kuna These favs might dominate this market but they are no guarantee to dominate this race. This girl will be a very good stayer later and she made up huge ground last week after somehow finding trouble in a small field. Can dish out big sectionals and if she’s close enough up the back she will give these a knock on the door. Race 12 No. 2 Stanga Storm A clean step and straight into the box seat and this is over. Another super effort last week behind an inform dog and he only has to navigate a passage into the striking spot to run into the finish here. Has a similar first split to the red so he does need to get around him early but he’s a major force here to take out the last should he do so. THE MEADOWS Race 4 No. 6 Boom Lateral Well there are characters, then there is old mate here. When you talk about wasted ability, here is the Chairman of the board. Can do anything in a race, come from anywhere and mow down any dog. The problem he has is when he gets there. He feels the leader needs his personal counselling until they reach the catching pen. That makes him a frame hitter here and at the EW price, a place heavy go is necessary. Race 6 No. 3 Rhino Bale and No. 7 Crackerjack Hawk One of several superb Maturity heats and the 3 is over the odds here. If this was over the middle trip, he would be pushing fav. He is almost as adept over this trip and a clean getaway and a prominent spot at the first turn will see him in the finish. The 7 is the blow out. Has a lot of talent but a little slow early and while he needs luck on a track that doesn’t allow slow starts, he could sweep into a place here late. Race 7 No. 2 Crackerjack Aret Another who is well in here at the age restricted conditions. Comes off a fast Horsham win after a luckless QLD campaign where he was tremendous before falling at his last start there. Met with good support here and goes close off the good draw. Race 8 No. 2 Fabs Vegetable and No. 8 Gabby’s Gyros A couple at the EW. The 2 will enjoy the box and he will smoke the pipe early and has great middle sections and stronger run home over this trip. If he gets in front of this fav he will make his job much harder. The 8 is looking for 600 but she still goes well this trip and while she will get back, she could hit the line for a place heavy play. Keep in mind for back end exotics. Race 9 No. 7 Baby Jaycee Looks thrown in at the age restricted conditions. Super sprinter who has already competed at the top level and won several times. A proper dog who is fast and good. She only needs to turn up with her best to roll on to the final next week. Series fav who will take no amount of stopping here. Race 11 No. 7 Minister Mentor and No. 5 Pudding Monelli The 7 the under rated smokie of the series. Has a big engine and can lead or come from behind which makes his dangerous here. Has delivers some big efforts already and handles outside draws. Just needs to miss the 8 early and he’s in it. The 5 will play for luck but being on the fence at the first turn is where he needs to be at The Meadows. Could place if the run presents and he is very strong. WENTWORTH PARK Race 5 No. 2 Tarawi Tiger Good effort in the final behind a weapon last week. Beaten a fair way but still got under 30 and has a terrific strike rate at this early stage of his career. Boxed to get right there again and a repeat of last week sees him hard to stop. Race 6 No. 5 Cawbourne Magic Gun stayer who drops back to the sprint trip and don’t let that deter you, he has done it before with great success. Has good tactical speed for a stayer and will start his work up the back where a clear run is all that will stand between him and hitting the frame. Place heavy bird here Race 8 No. 2 Showman Jack Resuming from a let up. Quality sprinter and middle distance type who has won here plenty and he gets in well against these. Can show speed and he is very strong and has form around some of the best dogs in the state and has a win over an outstanding field at Dubbo prior to his let up. If he’s fit and ready, he goes close here. Market Market
