Scott Embry’s Sunday Broome Preview Posted on July 14, 2023July 14, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ORTUM KRISP has to run out a strong 1435m but in the key form reference race behind Here No Cash she was first past the post (beat home Frost David, Spiritson, Smart Vision and Valbani). ZJP retains the ride and keeps her weight down to 53kg. Improving with racing. FROST DAVID finally showed something last start after being beaten out of sight at his first two Broome appearances. Now that they’re getting out in distance he may be able to roll forward. SPIRITSON likely looks to hold the lead from the inside gate and is racing well. VALBANI next best. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – ORTUM KRISP WIN RACE 2 APPLE SCHNAPPS improved sharply at his second start on the dirt for Aaron Pateman. He finished a nose off Silkinize and now meets him half a kilo better. Is again drawn inside of him and we know from his grass racing days that he has sufficient early toe to kick through and hold a position if they elect to use it. SILKINIZE is now jumping and mustering much better. Gunning for three straight and you’d argue back to 1200m is in his favour. PIT TO WIN went around favourite in the same race last start and now gets weight swings on both. He’s hard to beat when he steps. DASHING IMAGE next best. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – APPLE SCHNAPPS WIN RACE 3 ROGUES POINT continues making his way through the grades on his way towards potentially a Broome Cup. He has gone up 15 points in three starts, yet considering the way he’s winning you’d be brave to suggest the handicapper is even close to catching up with him yet. He’s a different animal on the dirt and he again jumps, leads, dictates and then kicks. He’s flying and these types historically keep winning. KORANIS has been beaten behind him on two separate occasions but does get positive weight swings in his favour from both encounters. Drawn to get the run of the race. POWERFUL steps out to relatively unfamiliar territory at 1600m but now gets some weight relief. IN THE BAG next best. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – ROGUES POINT WIN RACE 4 PAEROA LAD was caught wide last start but kept coming to the line. Was only 1.8L off the heavily commissioned Sioux City and in an open and evenly graded 1000m scamper he is one of many, many chances. Expecting him to be ridden with aggression to try and keep him out of trouble. LUVACHAT, GETYOURMONEYANDRUN and CITY OF SIN all have their first starts in Broome and first starts on dirt. They’re all capable animals and bring big X-Factor into the race. Makes it tricky. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – PAEROA LAD WIN RACE 5 STAR SOPRANO put on a dirt galloping exhibition at his first start for Danny (Luke) Morton. He settled just off the speed and exploded on straightening, going straight past Wuhan Warrior who had recorded back to back emphatic Broome wins. Huge query on whether he’ll see out 1435m so risk vs reward from a punting perspective, but tipping wise, hard to go past how well he won. GAMBLER’S GOLD improves for the dirt experience and has blinkers on for the first time. ORNAMENTAL BELLE leads but may not quite see out the trip? KENNEDY was a big improver last start. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – STAR SOPRANO WIN RACE 6 SUNSPHERE is bursting to win a race. He has had three starts in Broome: run into a red hot Rogue’s Point twice and then finished off hard into second from a mile off them behind Koranis last start. This race has no Rogue’s Point, no Koranis and while he has barrier 11 of 12 he would get back regardless of where he’s drawn. Ready to win on his way towards the #Cup. STUMBLE has an 8kg pull in the weights after the ZJP claim and likely settles 3 – 4L in front of Sunsphere. Makes things really interesting. Legitimate danger. FINAL PLAN rolls along and makes his own luck. HOOLAHOOPS is going along well. Numbers: 2 – 12 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – SUNSPHERE WIN RACE 7 SINGLETON PARK is just grinding but in a race without any real stars he’s as good a chance as any. From the draw he will park right over the speed and he’ll whack away from the 800m. This race has more questions than answers. Any number of them could win. FREQUENT FRIAR may still want further and may not really have wanted to draw barrier 1. Building. CIRCUS STAR gets out further in trip and the way he’s racing that looks to suit. ROCKING THE MERC fought them off last start after being clearly headed. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – SINGLETON PARK WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4,5,6 3,4 2,6,7,12 1,3,4,5,6,7,8 Market Market
