Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on August 12, 2022August 12, 2022 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 3 NO.4 SHE’S ALL CLASS SHE’S ALL CLASS has returned to racing in good form and looks the one to beat when he tackles the Mares BM 90 Handicap (1100m). The four year old closed off well when finishing 2nd behind CHAIN OF LIGHTNING over 1200 metres at Caulfield on June 25 and CHAIN OF LIGHTNING enhanced that form with a dynamic win over 1100 metres at Flemington last Saturday. The small field with an apparent lack of speed might make this a tactical race, however SHE’S ALL CLASS looks to have a good enough turn of foot to overcome any issues and appeals as one of the better bets of the day. RACE 6 NO.12 WALTZ ON BY The Quezette Stakes (1100m) often provides a spring board for the three year old fillies into the spring feature races and this year looks no exception with a strong line up set to start in this semi feature. WALTZ ON BY, from the Peter Moody stable, has the right profile to win this race at attractive odds. The daughter of I Am Invincible showed good talent in her first campaign with a placing behind I’MLOVIN’YA in the Talindert Stakes (1100m) at Flemington before a luckless 9th behind DAUMIER in the Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 26. She has trialled well on two occasions leading into this race and, interestingly, the stable and rider Jamie Kah combined to win this race last year with GIMME PAR. RACE 8 NO.2 MR BRIGHTSIDE The feature race is the P.B.Lawrence Stakes (1400m) and sees the return of the Doncaster winner MR BRIGHTSIDE and he appears to have struck a very winnable race. The five year old has an impressive winning strike rate of seven victories from just 13 starts and has been impressive in two recent jumpouts to prepare him for this Group 2 affair. He is drawn for a sweet run with his regular rider Craig Williams in the saddle and, whilst he has bigger targets later this spring, seems ideally placed to record another victory. Market Market
