Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on August 12, 2022August 12, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TRADE MAGIC deserves to break through and pinch one. Third behind Lindram Walter and Contento Boy stands out from four starts ago as does the second to Needs Time and third to Commodore Gal and Tuesday’s winner Contento Boy. Weakest race she has seen yet and should go close. GINGER JIVE gets her chance to lead and stay out of trouble and out of the kickback. PLATINUM LABEL ran in a C1 on Tuesday and finished fourth behind Contento Boy and Chilli Bean. Back to a maiden certainly looks better. ANTONINA will need every inch of 1300. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – TRADE MAGIC WIN RACE 2 HUSSTARR lead to win a C2 mile four starts back and then has finished second to Glenaureen, third to Dynamite Alf and Mountain Ash and second to True Moon. Looks the leader and that’s worth a lot. MOUNTIAN ASH has been a little hit and miss over the Broome season so far. Finished second in an 1800m C2 only two starts ago and then went to a 58+ when fading into fifth behind Dynamite Alf, Stevie’s Wonder and Koranis. This looks winnable. TRUE MOON got the job done last start and can go on with it now. JOHNNY REB is as honest and consistent as they come. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – HUSSTARR WIN RACE 3 ELAFELLA won the Harding Cup at Roebourne in his first start on the dirt for Nadia Bishop and then went into the Broome Sprint on Tuesday when sitting wide throughout and finishing third behind Dance Cockey and Powerful. Drops from the Broome Sprint into a 58+ and is a massive lump of a horse who should have no worries carrying 63kg. The silver lining to that weight is that Alan Kennedy can ride. DASHING IMAGE finished third to Dance Cockey on the day they broke the track record over 1300m. Looks the obvious danger and gets a big weight pull. NATIVE CHIMES was ridden off speed on Tuesday and showed that she gets through the conditions well enough. BART’S BULLET will likely look for the top. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – ELAFELLA WIN RACE 4 CITY REGAL is a 1000m specialist and think from barrier 4 that he’ll get a lovely run. Isola Bay goes quick, Can’tcatchthis goes quick and Miss Ellmya can go quick (and drops 8kg). Thinking that Simone Altieri and City Regal will be tracking up in behind that hot speed ready to pounce late if they stop. CAN’TCATCHTHIS is coming off a second at Carnarvon and a win at Broome. She’s really quick and can cop pressure. ISOLA BAY won well on Tuesday and if he can hold them out he’s a live hope. SPEEDING COMET is always a chance in this grade. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – CITY REGAL WIN RACE 5 CHILLI BEAN was the on top selection on Tuesday and was backed from $4.80 into $3.60 in a solid betting move. Lead for 1280m before Contento Boy got the better of him in the concluding stages. Backs up, drops 100m and should find the front or breeze outside of So Birikkino. Another opportunity. GRATED COCONUT was out in the cheap seats throughout on Tuesday but kept coming. CONTENTO BOY was able to out grind Chilli Bean four days ago. SHY BOY won well at Roebourne. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – CHILLI BEAN WIN RACE 6 POWERFUL and TURBO POWER come from Tuesday’s Broome Sprint and on quality and class alone you’d be surprised if the winner didn’t come from one of these two. There’s a 4kg weight swing in favour of Turbo Power and they’re likely to lead and breeze from barriers 1 and 2. Thinking that if a highly inform Austin Galati and TURBO POWER can hold out POWERFUL in the first few hundred it’s his race to lose. POWERFUL would be nearly home if he was able to cross in the first couple of hundred. Absolutely flying and huge in defeat on Tuesday. LINDRAM WALTER gets weight relief but runs into two quality sprinters. MOET DE VEGA can come hard late. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – TURBO POWER WIN RACE 7 BLACKWATER BAY put the writing on the wall in the Kimberley Cup when a fast finishing third behind Butterlea Lad and Stocktaka. He will relish the extra 180m and provided he doesn’t get shuffled back into too much traffic in the early stages then he looks trained to the minute to taste Cup success. Senior rider on for his Grand Final and Kyra Yuill knows how to get them out and moving when the time is right. Will need to sustain a run but looks to be peaking. BLOCK OF LAND brings huge intrigue as he comes over to Broome after dominating in Roebourne. Completely different race but he’s flying. IN THE BAG digs deep but think 2200m probably sees him out. BUTTERLEA LAD has turned a corner and Danny/Luke Morton know how to win a Cup in the NW. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – BLACKWATER BAY WIN RACE 8 DYNAMITE ALF has been excellent in his last two wins. Won a C2 1800m by a length and then backed it up with a 58+ win over Stevie’s Wonder and Koranis who both head to the Cup. Updated Austin Galati stats after Tuesday: 30 rides for 8 winners at 26.7% strike rate and 98% POT. He’s turned into a Broome money making machine. GLENAUREEN gets back and then winds up. The extra distance really suits him, Luke Campbell just needs to get him into clear air. FREQUENT FRIAR never travelled last start. Previous form solid. SCHOOLING needs to step. If he does he’s a chance. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – DYNAMITE ALF WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,4,7,8 1,2 2,3,4,7,11 1,5 Market Market
