Chris Nelson’s Saturday Randwick Preview Posted on February 8, 2024February 8, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Racing at Randwick kicks off with a mile Midway where I’m going to have small bets on a couple at decent odds. INVINCIBLE LEGEND has had the two runs back from a break finishing out of the placings on each occasion in stronger company. Back to something easier he will appreciate the step up in distance & after the claim carries only 0.5kg more weight. MONTEFELICITY also drops back in grade, also distance however the downside is the concerning awkward draw & possibly wide run. CIREBON in the mix also. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet: INVINCIBLE LEGEND/MONTEFELICITY TO WIN (small bets). RACE 2 First starter CELERITY has also accepted at Caulfield, hopefully she goes around here after being scratched at the gates last week as a result of the J.Mac injury. Really liked her trial earlier that week & if connections decide to start in this race she gets the nod. Team Snowden accept with 3 runners, KINGDOM UNDERSIEGE the best of those from the trials in my opinion, beaten by the much hyped Linebacker with both given easy hit outs. ANODE has the race experience winning on debut by a decent margin, nothing he beat home has been spotted since suggesting the form from the race remains a question mark until now. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet: CELERITY TO WIN RACE 3 Found this a difficult race. I’ll lean to ANOTHER WILL as I feel he has plenty of upside being the least experienced runner in the field. Dominant first up down south he should derive good benefit from the outing & seems versatile which is all important as does draw awkwardly today. SUPER CHILLED likely needs another run however he did make ground fresh & has been competitive against much stronger opposition than he faces here, definite market watch. INFINITIVE also has to be included, good run fresh. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet: Box up top 3 selections in exotics. RACE 4 24 runners including emergencies in this week’s Highway! Trainer Matt Dunn sure knows how to win these races & I’m sticking with him & his lightly raced galloper BELVEDERE BOYS who was a scratching in Brisbane last Saturday (wide gate). 2 wins & as many placings from 4 starts he can really find the line & the long run home will suit. ATMOSPHERIC ROCK will firstly need to gain a start then land some luck from wide gate, should he tick those two boxes then he’s a chance off a tidy first up effort. RAPBIDASH resumes, must be respected on the career record to date. Numbers: 3 – 20 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet: BELVEDERE BOYS TO WIN (small bet) RACE 5 GENTLY ROLLED ran well first up making good ground & will appreciate the step up in distance. She’s been well supported in early markets however I wouldn’t be entertaining a short price as that outing was in a Midway. There’s some better form lines in this race however they are not recent, I wouldn’t be taking anything under about $3.50. I haven’t been wrapped in HOWGOODAREYOU’s trials however her record is very good & I’d expect her to bring a different game to race day. RUPERTAAR in the mix on form, just hasn’t ticked that 1300m box as yet. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet: GENTLY ROLLED TO WIN ($3.50 or better) (small bet) RACE 6 First of the day’s features is the Group 3 Eskimo Prince where we get to see some of the potential big autumn players. TOM KITTEN is right up near the top of that list off a terrific spring capped off by his dominant Spring Champion victory, he should have won at least twice earlier however was out of luck. Yes, he will be much better suited over further however in the small field nice & fresh off a good trial he looks great value to me. I’m an ENCAP fan, he’ll be very strong late whilst on the fresh side. Acid test for CABALLUS who won well fresh for the new yard, can he measure up to this? Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet: TOM KITTEN EACH-WAY/Saver ENCAP. RACE 7 The 2-million-dollar Inglis Millenium will be a super competitive race. Sometimes you’ve just got to throw the barriers out the window & stick with the horse who looks to have a strong advantage over the opposition & that’s the very impressive debut winner FULLY LIT. Straight to the front he ran good time winning clearly & had he drawn a half-decent gate he’d be a lot shorter in this market. ODINSON has the form & 2 trials under his belt, well drawn he’ll be ready to go. RUE DE ROYALE chased a smart one home when we last saw him, trialled up well. ZESTIMAN is one from one, liked his recent trial tucked in behind the placegetters, looked as though he had something to offer. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 8 Here’s a race! 8 of the 11 acceptors resume, market leads will be all important. BARBER hasn’t been the easiest of horses to catch in recent times however I feel he’s well placed here. Liked his recent trial when looking to have plenty to offer & Zac Lloyd can hopefully make use of the inside gate & find a spot close enough to strike in the straight. DERRY GROVE just loves this track & trip, kept fresh will be steaming down the outside. No knock on FRILLED who is 5 from 5 whilst MABEL has a good fresh record against easier opposition. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet: BARBER EACH-WAY RACE 9 Tricky looking race. Not sure what to do with MARQUESS who resumes, his form was very good last prep however first up at the mile just has me worried a little, he usually kicks off over shorter trips. Keep coming back to AMOR VICTORIOUS who has that race fitness edge & did win well here fresh beating a subsequent winner, down on the minimum going forward he could prove tough to get past once again. FLOATING is another with race fitness however the drop back 400m has to be concerning. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet: Box up top 3 selections in exotics. RACE 10 Can’t go past TINTOOKIE in this final race. He has the Our Kobison form line which is a very strong one with that horse running fast time in winning at Rosehill (by a space) last Saturday. Like the fact he’s 3 weeks between runs as he races best when fresh. MRS CHRISSIE is very speedy, she’ll zoom along here & possibly look the winner halfway down the straight, that last little bit may find her out? FIRE couldn’t match TINTOOKIE first up however strips fitter this time around & gets a decent weight turnaround, should at least finish closer. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet: TINTOOKIE TO WIN Market Market
