Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on August 7, 2025August 7, 2025 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Eagle Farm racing in Brisbane on Saturday, not really sure what the weather is capable of, showers are forecast however just how much we get is the unknown. Just a small field to kick off the card where I’m with the third-up (5) CUNNAMULLA FELLA who resumed in a BM90 at Doomben beating all bar the winner Goldsborough who has gone on to score once again. Second-up effort was forgivable; he can bounce back here. (6) KADALL is a little shy of the winning post, every chance in the world two runs back, close up the latest. (2) THIS’LLBETHEONE maps to lead on his own, could take some running down? Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet: CUNNAMULLA FELLA TO WIN. RACE 2 Newcomer to the Jack Bruce yard (6) RAZORS looks placed to win this however he’s been so heavily supported in early markets he’s reached an unbackable price. Good first up in Sydney, ridden forward (didn’t suit) the latest, liked his recent Doomben trial, should be far too good for these. (5) LONE ARTIST & (11) VELOZES come out of the same last start race with the latter prevailing, suggest they can run the placings however in reverse order to last time. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 11 – 4 Suggested Bet: TRIFECTA – RAZORS TO WIN with 5 & 11 to run the placings. RACE 3 I’m convinced (13) BEREZKA is better than these however note she’s also accepted in Sydney, doesn’t draw well here & will get back, I’d love to see her in a race over further than 1200m however Ciaron Maher is persisting at 1200m & he’s trained a lot more winners than I have! (7) BOOM SHOT did make ground first up, additional 90m from the good barrier suggests he can run well. (11) PIVOTAL LAD maps well & is reasonably consistent. Numbers: 13 – 7 – 11 – 16 Suggested Bet: BEREZKA TO WIN. RACE 4 (5) CASPERNOVA has had a frustrating preparation placing at his first three runs before giving away too much start here last week in a race which although won by a backmarker the on-pacers were better suited. Out to 1400m for the first time is an unknown which is why I wouldn’t be jumping into a short price. (7) FREE CARRY resumes & did race very well at the beginning of his latest prep, likes to roll forward & may take some running down. (11) JONNY DA WOLF in the mix also, he just needs to overcome a wide draw early on. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 11 – 10 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 5 (3) FIOPROSPERO gets the nod here in what does look a very difficult race. Placed his past 3 starts in Sydney with the latest over this trip he holds a good soft track record & he’s raced here on the track twice for as many wins. (9) BITOFTHEBLARNEY led throughout at Ipswich two starts back & may well look to repeat that here in a race where the speed doesn’t appear strong on paper. (7) THE IRISH is a swimmer; he’ll be doing a rain dance! Numbers: 3 – 9 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet: FIOPROSPERO TO WIN ($3 or better). RACE 6 The leading Tony Gollan stable has a very strong hand in this race with the resuming (3) IMPERVIOUS & the second up (5) BOOMSHANKA, I’d be surprised if one of the pair doesn’t win. So, which one? For me it the former who ran some nice races at her initial prep & judging by her lead up trials she’s improved plenty over the break & gone to a new level. (5) BOOMSHANKA went too hard when resuming & was a sitting shot in the straight, back in trip suits & she too ran some nice races at her only other campaign. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet: IMPERVIOUS TO WIN/Saver BOOMSHANKA. RACE 7 (9) BULLION BOY had accepted for a race earlier in the day however connections have settled on this open handicap as the right race for the second-up galloper. He really found the line in great style when resuming here recently & will lap up the rise in distance coupled with the 6.5kg weight drop. (1) CHRYSAOR is back in trip which I don’t see as ideal however this is the type of race he’s likely to bob up in, his latest was good against the race shape. (8) SUPER DUCK is very well named, he relishes the wet ground suggesting he’s a definite chance should the rain come. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet: BULLION BOY TO WIN. RACE 8 I’m putting (2) END ASSEMBLY on top however he’s not certain to run. Also accepted at Ipswich on Friday he needs good ground, should we go around on soft here he will likely be a scratching, if not he has the form to win. (3) POWER BEAU led at Grafton & stayed on well, the winner & others who finished close all ran on from the back suggesting his effort was a good one, he’ll strip fitter. (16) GOSPEL GIRL should be ready to fire third run back, Emily Langs 3kg claim is a definite plus. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 16 – 7 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 9 Although drawn poorly I keep coming back to (3) BELEGATO who has the best form lines for the race. Off the scene for a month having not raced since early July he placed in Listed company first up before winning a good race over the carnival second up at Doomben, hit latest at the Sunshine Coast was full of merit after racing wide. (5) SIMBU has struck form, plenty of weight though, that’s my concern with him. (9) SHOT OF WHISKEY maps well however he’s just a little soft to the line at times, may have to lead to win & I can’t see that happening here. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 9 – 14 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Market Market
