WAIRERE FALLS hasn’t been a pin-up horse for punters wise however this looks suitable, he’ll be running on again & one of these days he’s going to get there in time! MANBEHINDTHEMONEY fitter can run well. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 13 – 5 Suggested Bet: ROUSSEAU to win RACE 2 BRIAGNTINE is very well placed in this race under the set weights conditions. Had it been a handicap he’d be giving away plenty of weight to every runner. Third in a Silver Eagle, third in a Razor Sharp (Listed) suggest he really should be winning this however the gate has to be a concern, he won’t want to be stuck out deep working. SAFEWORK doesn’t win often however his two runs this time in have been good, luckless the latest. HATCHET was terrific last start, where to from the gate here though? Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet: BRIGANTINE TO WIN (if not under $2.50) RACE 3 Good competitive affair for the 2yo’s with the Toowoomba galloper RUSSIAN ALLIANCE going for 6 straight wins! I’m with the Chris Waller trained MAKENA who ran well first up at Canterbury behind ZIA (also engaged this race). MAKENA gets a better draw than ZIA & I don’t think appreciated racing inside that runner in the drive to the line, confident the tables can be turned here. Certainly no knock RUSSIAN ALLIANCE who just keeps stepping up each start. Numbers: 13 – 1 – 9 – 15 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics RACE 4 I was keen on STEET GOSSIP in the Gold Coast Bracelet two weeks ago however she just found the first two home a little too strong at the end of 1800m. Trainer Mark Newnham has elected to drop her back in distance for this & keep in mind she did win here over the trip the start prior after sitting 3 deep throughout. PRETTY AMAZING will get back & run on, needs a strong tempo not sure that’s going to be the case though. TICK TOCK QUEEN will enjoy the drying track, bone dry would be ideal however that’s not likely. Numbers: 16 – 2 – 11 – 12 Suggested Bet: STREET GOSSIP TO WIN RACE 5 Keen on GOLDEN BOOM to bounce back into winning form this race. Outstanding effort in the Mick Dittman Plate when forced to park 3 deep no cover he fought on very strongly to the line. Freshened up he’s trialled very well since & from gate one will likely trail, if the run comes in the straight, look out. SPACEWALK has to be respected dropping back plenty in grade. HELLUVA PARTY is promising & did run second behind Golden Boom in his recent trial win here. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet: GOLDEN BOOM TO WIN RACE 6 Tricky race, can KING KAPA bounce back? His first up effort was so out of character, he didn’t travel at all & was spent force around the home turn with Ryan Maloney easing him up down the straight. Back to the trials he’s run well, surely we can forgive a good horse one bad run. SIMPLY FLY needs a wide gate & speed on, gets both here will be charging home at the end. Ditto MISHANI SNIPER who will be good odds. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 16 – 7 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics RACE 7 ZAAKI lines up for his second Doomben Cup in 3 years after winning in 2021 & being beaten at a short quote last year by Huetor at Eagle Farm. Thought his Hollindale win was very good considering the early work plus he was 3 weeks between runs stepping 1400-1800m. Fitter this time hard to see him being beaten. 3yo KOVALICA the interesting runner, Derby favourite who missed the Rough Habit last week with a foot issue. ATISHU continues to perform well, will get back again & in a race with little speed on paper that has to be of concern. Numbers: 1 – 13 – 12 – 5 Suggested Bet: ZAAKI TO WIN RACE 8 Here’s a wide-open race where the winner lands a ‘Golden ticket’ into the upcoming Group 1 Stradbroke. I’ve gone wide putting the Victorian EXCELIDA on top who finished down the track last start however that was in a Group 1 on a very heavy track so well worth forgiving. Runs prior good enough to give this a shake & she has trialled well here recently. SCALLOPINI tends to be a better prospect these days when he leads, that’s not likely to happen here however he loves the cut in the ground & can’t be ruled out. BROOKSPIRE a chance at odds if able to sneak a run. Numbers: 14 – 1 – 19 – 2 Suggested Bet: EXCELIDA EACH-WAY (small) RACE 9 Terrific race to round out the day with the fillies heading towards the Oaks in a fortnights time. Going to stick with the last start winner RENAISSANCE WOMAN who will take plenty of fitness benefit off the win, that was only her second start since the Melbourne spring suggesting she’s nice & fresh to tackle this & the upcoming Oaks whilst others have had more arduous campaigns. MADAME ODETTE was an eye-catcher very late in the same race, additional trip will suit. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet: RENAISSANCE WOMAN TO WIN Market Market
