Although never a winning chance I liked the way he stayed on & suggest he’ll appreciate the step up in trip this afternoon, the opposition aren’t strong by any means. RINGER’S REWARD is another who will appreciate further, TORQUE BOSANOVA won well on debut. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet: SPICY LEGEND TO WIN (small bet) RACE 2 COMPASS ROSE & COPPLESON are the two for me here & if possible backing both to make a profit would be the ideal scenario. COMPASS ROSE by So You Think has this trip written all over her, loved her late surge at the end of 1600m last start. COPPLESON has no early pace whatsoever however he does come out of a Group 2 last start, the second placed horse went on to win the Derby & he was only just over 4 lengths behind him. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet: COMPASS ROSE/COPPLESON TO WIN RACE 3 PHAROAH’S REIGN is a model of consistency whereas the majority of his opposition today are far from that. He’s barely missed a placing for some time which includes plenty of wins & although drawn out here he maps to get across & park in the first few without any issues. THE DRILLER is racing well, beaten an eyelash by Al Aabit last start, that horse is 2 from 2 this prep & promising, he rises nothing in weight. AGNELLI stepping up in distance can improve, well worth including in exotics. Numbers: 3 – 11 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet: PHAROAH’S REIGN TO WIN RACE 4 Long time between drinks for MATOWATAKPE however he just might be worth a throw at the stumps here. Beaten around a length at his past 3 starts he takes the step up to the mile which in my opinion is very suitable as he’s always running on at the end of his races. Drawn well he can settle around midfield & with luck in the straight getting through will get his chance. RED WAVE bolted in second up aided by a strong tempo, may need further now? APPLICATIONS could give plenty of cheek in front, fitter second up. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 11 – 10 Suggested Bet: MATOWATAKPE EACH-WAY (small bet) RACE 5 SEA RIPPLE had a wretched run of bad luck in her races however her fortunes have turned around with successive wins at her last two outings, she comes up with the inside draw here & will get every possible from there. TENZING a chance, he had no luck last start, in fact that’s been the case all three runs since coming from across the ditch. I just worry how far back he gets from the wide alley. Numbers: 12 – 9 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet: SEA RIPPLE EACH-WAY RACE 6 CHINNY BOOM returns here & I’m confident she can do so with a bang! Only beaten once which was her last race before spelling the margin was only a small one & in one more bound the race was hers. Note Sunshine In Paris was running home hard late in that race, she’s since gone on to win a Group 1 in Sydney. EXO LADY has a very impressive fresh record, wouldn’t be leaving her out of calculations. BEAST MODE a chance from the good draw. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet: CHINNY BOOM TO WIN RACE 7 Very open race this one. I’ve settled on the consistent BEAUX RUMBLE who faced the breeze on a genuine tempo first up boxing on well right to the line. He’s got some form in stronger races & should land a decent run from the gate. AMORE VELOCE is another at good odds who can show up, yet to be beaten fresh looked good in a recent barrier trial victory. SELF INDULGENT will get every possible from the gate, will she be ready fresh, the market will guide us. Numbers: 13 – 15 – 11 – 12 Suggested Bet: BEAUX RUMBLE EACH-WAY (small bet) RACE 8 HILAL & TUMBLER RIDGE are clearly the class runners in the race however both draw a little awkwardly with their big weights. I’m going with the lightly weighted IRISH SONGS at far better value to cause an upset. Comes out of the same last start race as HILAL & was finishing strongly dropping back in distance, back to 1350m looks ideal & he’s got a lot less weight to lump. No knock the other pair who are very close to wins. Numbers: 12 – 3 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet: IRISH SONGS EACH-WAY RACE 9 ALBURQ & ASTERO the ones to beat here & at the better odds I’ll lean to ALBURQ who resumes off a break having raced so well at his first Queensland preparation. His pattern is to get back & run home hard which will be the plan here, the 1350m fresh should be ideal. ASTERO won a Midway at Rosehill last start showing good dash in the straight when the gap came, racing well overall & down a little in weight. Happy to back both runners. Numbers: 12 – 5 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet: ALBURQ EACH-WAY/ASTERO TO WIN Market Market
