The Listed Fernhill for the 2yo’s is always a good race & that’s where we kick things off. I’m with the Team Snowden trained MAKE A CALL who closed off nicely in the Baillieu which followed a game effort in the Black Opal, the rise to a mile looks very suitable. INHIBITIONS comes through the same race, did beat home MAKE A CALL however I’m not convinced the step up in trip is as favourable for her. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet: MAKE A CALL EACH-WAY RACE 2 Open race, plenty of winning chances. Godolphin gelding ATMOSPHERE ran a couple of nice races at Listed & Group 2 level at the end of his last prep & will strip fitter for the first up run on the Kensington track. He stays at the same trip & importantly drops 8kg in weight. HAWAII FIVE OH was good in the same race beating all bar the winner, must rate highly. Go as wide as you can. Numbers: 8 – 10 – 9 – 12 Suggested Bet: ATMOSPHERE EACH-WAY (small bet) RACE 3 We haven’t seen AUTUMN BALLET since her very impressive Black Opal win back earlier last month when on debut. She bolted in a trial prior & closed off nicely in a more recent hit out beating all bar the winner running on from back in the field under little pressure. She might be very smart, I’ll take the punt she can measure up here. BOSSY NIC hasn’t seen a wet track however his form down south has been very good. Don’t forget TIZ INVINCIBLE also went around in the Black Opal actually starting favourite off some smart trials, never saw anything of the inside rail her run was quite sound. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet: AUTUMN BALLET TO WIN RACE 4 AUDETTE & KAYOBI fought out the finish in the heat for this race at Gosford with the latter a little too solid. He’s a very promising type KAYOBI & I’m with him here however the difference in the price seems a little over the top, don’t think AUDETTE should be double figures at all. LOCH EAGLE hasn’t been the easiest horse to follow however he nailed it last start & should prove fitter third up. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 11 Suggested Bet: KAYOBI TO WIN/AUDETTE SAVER RACE 5 AFT CABIN & ZOU TIGER hold the class edge here, both freshened up coming off strong barrier trial performances. KOTE is flying & has the fitness edge, he’s also a much longer price & I’m going with him on an each-way basis. He’s flown home his past couple, is unbeaten this track & trip & won on wet ground. Certainly no knock whatsoever on the other two, ECONOMICS the other main hope. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet: KOTE EACH-WAY RACE 6 Happy to back PIEROSSA on an each-way basis here. Really liked her finishing effort in the VineryStud a fortnight back finishing off the best of all runners final 200m which included the super impressive winner Prowess who is not going around this afternoon. Team Snowden have timed her run to perfection & should she run out the trip rates a terrific chance. PAVITRA ran 2nd in the same race & did run second in the VRC Oaks, we know she’ll run it out & has to be the toughest to beat. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet: PIEROSSA EACH-WAY RACE 7 The two-mile Sydney Cup, who will prove the stronger stayer? I’m with the Joseph O’Brien trained CLEVELAND who put in a terrific performance in the WFA Tancred at Rosehill when having his first run for 6 months. Loved the way he found the line at the end of 2400m & he’ll relish the step up in trip, keep in mind he has won at 3700m plus back home. The 51kg will feel like a postage stamp on his back & he’s won on both wet & dry ground. GOLD TRIP ran well in the same race & looks to be ready to peak now. SUREFIRE looks suited, have no idea what to do with BARON SAMEDI, market our best guide there! Numbers: 11 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet: CLEVELAND TO WIN RACE 8 Will the Queen Elizabeth turn out to be a two horse race or will other/s spoil the ANAMOE, DUBAI HONOUR party? You’d be brave to tip against either & I’m certainly not going to, I’ve been an ANAMOE fan ever since that Sires win in his 2yo season, he’s our national champ, his record at this stage of his preparations is very good & I have to go with my heart. DUBAI HONOUR trounced his rivals in the Ranvet which didn’t include Anamoe however tie back some formlines with runners in that race & you have him right up on terms if not holding a margin over ANAMOE. CASCADIAN the knockout, ZEYREK the longshot. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 12 Suggested Bet: ANAMOE TO WIN (heart tipping…) RACE 9 Really not sure what to do with this race. The UK mare ALCOHOL FREE comes here with very big wraps & easily won a lead up trial here recently, she’s in the right yard & if not a market drifter I’ll take the punt on her. There’s a few locals though who have run encouraging races of late who could cause an upset without surprising. FANGIRL, LEVANTE, ATISHU & PRIDE OF JENNY are the ones & I’d include them in exotics with the import. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet: BOX UP FIRST 4 plus no.12 IN EXOTICS RACE 10 ZAPATEO beat HYPOTHETICAL last start however there’s a couple of factors in the latter’s favour here. HYPOTHETICAL worked hard up front in that race setting it up for ZAPATEO who parked off the speed however fought on gamely right to the line. The barriers are clearly in HYPOTHETICAL’s favour also, happy to take the far better price. KIKU is good fresh & in no way out of it, will be motoring late. Numbers: 11 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet: HYPOTHETICAL EACH-WAY Market Market
