Chris Nelson’s Friday Sunshine Coast Preview Posted on February 14, 2025February 14, 2025 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Track posted a Soft (6) this morning for night racing on the Sunshine Coast, we could well get an upgrade during the afternoon. The meeting gets under way with an 1800m maiden where I’m with the consistent TOP LEVEL who has found the line well both starts this prep 1350 & 1666m, the step up in distance does look very suitable. BRIEF SPIRIT comes out of a race at Doomben which was controlled by the front running winner, did a good job to keep finding the line & looks very close to a breakthrough win, logical danger. Include CHILLAXING who has only had the one run this prep when closing strongly along the fence over 1400m. Numbers: 13 – 1 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet: Exotics best. RACE 2 Looks the right race for the consistent FASHION FLASH to shed the maiden tag. She’s been to the races 4 times having placed on each occasion, trapped wide first up she dashed up to take over in the straight however the tough run told late & she was outgunned by the winner. Fitter & with a better gate this time around look out. RHUVAAL the danger off a pair of solid metro placings this time in. BENZINO resumes, definitely suited out to further however at this stage of his prep he’ll be fresh enough to run into a placing. Numbers: 13 – 4 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet: FASHION FLASH will be short, box up 13 & 4 in exotics. RACE 3 The consistent GAGNANTE ENCHERE draws out however with a positive ride early shouldn’t have too much trouble sliding across to land a prominent spot & that’s going to make her very hard to beat. Placed her past 3 starts here at varying distances & she drops 2.5kg on her latest effort, back to 1400m no harm either. HENLEY ROOM resumes, well in the market will ultimately appreciate further however 1400m first up gives him a chance. Thought PROMISCUOUS GIRL could be an improver second up. Numbers: 13 – 6 – 11 – 10 Suggested Bet: GAGNANTE ENCHERE TO WIN. RACE 4 Without seeing any prices when doing the form for this meeting I was keen to follow any market support for the Gollan trained debutante ZARIPPA. Well, here we are this morning & he’s well into red figures suggesting I’m not likely to back him however was on the right track off his very soft yet promising looking trial. KETTLEBALL will ultimately want further however certainly in the mix whilst another debutante QUEEN ARNI could be a sneaky chance, stable are going very well & they are a betting yard, monitor the market moves very closely. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 13 – 15 Suggested Bet: ZARPIAA too short now, exotics best. RACE 5 Tough race. BEEN A SECRET gets the nod, as with many in the field winning is a tough assignment, her record of 1 win from 12 starts doesn’t look all that good on paper however keep in mind she’s been placed on a further 8 occasions & comes into this race fitter & with a good second up record. NIGHTCAPPED joins a new stable, form in NSW sound enough to run well against this company, market watch. MALTALI & KERNEL BOOM in the mix should they bring their best form. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 6 Going with the northern visitor DIVINE PURPOSE who has only had the one start locally since coming up from Melbourne where she had some handy form having run close up 4ths at Flemington on consecutive occasions last prep. Fitter & with a decent weight drop she should run well. CHARLIE’S CASE always performs well her on his home track & comes back from a Doomben placing last start, just needs to cope with an awkward gate. BONDED AFFAIR maps well, just a strong 1400m is my concern with him. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet: DIVINE PURPOSE TO WIN. RACE 7 Very difficult race to sort, a rough result wouldn’t surprise. VALANTINO ROC is the one I’m going with, just gives the impression the step up in distance should suit, he has placed 2 of his 4 attempts at the trip with excuses at least one of the misses being on a very wet track. CENTRAL PARK lumped the big weight to win well fresh, rises nothing here & Jimmy Orman jumps aboard. FERINO a definite improver second up, the more give in the track the better for her. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 10 – 13 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 8 Market will be out best guide to the chances of the resuming CARTWHEELS who is the best performed horse in the race. Interestingly she resumes without an ‘official’ trial which isn’t the norm, suspect she’s had a jump out or two though. Should she drift I’ll lean to the in-form RIDEAU who although rising in grade looks to have plenty of upside. LIMERO resumes, very consistent & with the leading local stable, I’d be surprised to see him not figure in the placings. Numbers: 12 – 10 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet: CARTWHEELS TO WIN (if solid in betting). Market Market
