Chris Nelson’s Doomben Best Bets Posted on February 11, 2021February 11, 2021 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 No.6 Leadership Spill Looks a perfect first up assignment for this one tomorrow who is yet to miss a place fresh which includes two wins. Drawn the pole with top jock Ryan Maloney to steer he either leads or box seats and from there will prove extremely hard to hold out down the straight. Yet another one from the Gollan camp who should be winning. RACE 5 No.10 Scottish Mist Talented mare from the Heathcote yard who returned in good order here at Doomben early January flashing home late into 3rd spot. She then went to Eagle Farm and on face value was disappointing as an odds-on favourite looming up only to peak on her run at the business end of the race. She did have 59kg though and may have felt that when it counted. Give her another chance. RACE 9 No.7 Garibaldi Tony Gollan appears set for a big day tomorrow and this gelding should round out a successful afternoon for Queensland’s leading trainer. Could not have been any more impressive bringing up the hat trick here at Doomben last start when coasting past his rivals in the straight before charging away for the easiest of victories in a race which wasn’t really run to suit at all!
