Chris Nelson’s Doomben Best Bets Posted on August 3, 2018 | Posted by Chris Nelson Chris Nelson’s Best Bets RACE 1 No.1 Pumps Busting to win a race this one and tomorrow he’s found a very suitable one. Likes to roll forward as he has done at his last couple setting solid tempos on each occasion only to be run down late. With the early scratching of Lucap he’s the only speed in the race now and will likely be able to dictate in front. Going to prove very hard to run down. RACE 6 No.4 Scallopini Lost all chance at the start here a fortnight back when not the best to jump finding himself back near last against the fence in what turned out to be a slowly run race. Looking for room in the straight he got himself into all sorts of trouble only seeing daylight late, although beaten over 5 lengths he still hit the line very strongly over the last 50m. Great value. RACE 8 No.14 Sornja Nice type of mare who put in a strong finishing effort here first up closing off late behind Tabbing in a race not run to suit tempo wise. Second up tomorrow staying at 1200m doesn’t pose any concerns as she followed the same pattern last preparation with success. Inside draw, no weight, she’ll only need daylight in the straight to figure prominently in the finish.
