Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on August 3, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 SHREWD GAMBLE was the best run of the beaten brigade in the maiden Axel Foley romped in and many of those gallopers meet again here. Better for his first dirt experience and should go close. MIDNIGHT ASSASSIN from the soft draw can run a drum. Effort two starts ago against better types was encouraging. HAIL CAESAR showed ability a long time ago when in his first preparation. Maybe the shades can give him something. FRANK’S REWARD next best. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – SHREWD GAMBLE WIN Race 2 RAKNIKAR was a good effort last week and on the quick back-up over a mile can work forwards and sit outside the leader. This looks a great race for him. Form has been ultra consistent in harder than this. DEFINATLY hit the line well last start in a fairly slowly run race. LITTLE SINCERO doesn’t win out of turn but rarely runs a bad race. HANDYMAN is still trying to work into form this preparation. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – RAKNIKAR WIN Race 3 OUTSPOKEN DUKE won two on the bounce and then was awkwardly placed throughout last start and never really got warm. Think that form can hold up and he can rebound. KOSTYAZILCH has the shades added and is drawn a soft gate for an aggressive rider. Improver. SPEEDY JUSTICE comes off a dominant win in Derby but needs to bring that form back to Broome. QUITE REGAL will find this much more suitable than last start. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – OUTSPOKEN DUKE WIN Race 4 DESERT THORN has two of the biggest ticks in racing: Blinkers on, Jarrad Noske on. No doubt Noske may be a little ‘rusty’ but he is one of Australia’s best riders and you can’t put enough value on class. TOMOHAWK was a big run with all things considered last start. Looks the danger. CARD KNIGHT was strong first-up and then a shade disappointing last start. Senior rider on, blinkers on. SECRET CHARGE is going well enough to give cheek. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – DESERT THORN WIN Race 5 CORPORATE STRATEGY has always looked above average since debuting in Broome last year. Putting it all together and is a promising type. SENSE OF DENIAL has been a revelation this season. Should run another big race here and gets 1kg on the main danger. OCEAN DIGGER goes 4L better for Peter Hall than any other hoop. His loss is huge but will still be in the mix. CASH ON CALL has all the gear removed and is quality when right but always risky first crack on the surface. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – CORPORATE STRATEGY WIN Race 6 DIAMOND TONIQUE gave rivals an absolute galloping clinic last start. He bolted in and if he reproduces that run could make things interesting as he chases the $50,000 Rowey triple crown. GLORYLAND is not breaking open fields like he was last season. Reuniting with Simone Altieri could be the key to his improvement. SCOONER is the best stayer in the race and if he handles the going will go close. I’M A BLUEBAGGER is going incredibly well and is a live chance. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – DIAMOND TONIQUE WIN Race 7 CHIN STRAP is a Saturday Metro type at his best and it’s hard to see them running him down again here. There is a fair bit of speed but if he leads or sits in the breeze should be too strong. SALAMAAT and CHERABIN are never far away from each other and both consistent. BONNY BE GOOD is one of the few get back and wind up horses in the race. Should hit the line hard. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – CHIN STRAP WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2 1,3 3 3 Market Market
