Scott Embry’s Easter Monday York Preview Posted on April 1, 2021April 1, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 NINETYONE DWYER should be able to cross from the draw and if Craig Staples does find the top this filly should take some running down. Only two starts ago ran third behind Special View who is now a C1 winner and takes on 3yo 0MWLY company at Ascot over the Easter period. TEMPTEST MISS has done nothing wrong in two starts to date for Jade Tangaroa. Drawn a slightly awkward alley but Victoria Cover is starting to emerge as a promising apprentice with experience and confidence. Not much between them in these handicap maidens and she has no convictions (yet). ETHICAL SECRET ran on well last start after getting a long way out of his ground. SEMINYAK is yet to reproduce some of his early runs. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – NINTYONE DWYER WIN RACE 2 CHOIX DE LACE looks to have found a super race. Only rises half a kilo from her last start effort when running fourth behind How’s the Serenity, Critical Altitude and Divine Pair in a 1000m scamper at Ascot run 3L faster than average. Excellent placement, strong use of the Keshaw Dhurun claim and looks a hit and run, jump and run JP Taylor mission. YANKEE LIMA has always promised to win a race and this is fairly winnable for him. ANDRIETTE has run some nice races in a short career to date. MIA NOBILE has gone well at her two outings. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – CHOIX DE LACE WIN RACE 3 OLD BAILEY is a lovely jump and run type for a track like York. Holly Watson seems to ride him well and if she simply follows the same blueprint as her last ride when she went the first 600 5L faster than average she’ll go close to making it another win. Horse loves to roll. KICK A GOAL SON didn’t fire a solitary shot first-up down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra but that is never a cause for concern. Many horses don’t handle the straight course. LIFE FOR A LIFE has been super consistent in four runs to date and is very well placed into this grade. No knock on him. PRINCELY PACKAGE next best. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – OLD BAILEY WIN RACE 4 ALTAMONT is a very hard horse to catch but he has raced in almost exclusively tougher races than this throughout his career. First-up last preparation he was beaten 5.5L by He’s A Gunslinger, Truly Great, Wakan Tanka and Solid Azza. Second-up he ran fourth within a length of Truly Great and Divine Shadow. He is certainly capable and if he shows up he’ll take beating. FIRE GODDESS won’t find an easier race than this in the outer provincial area. Can even roll to the top if Vicky Cover wants to. BLACK SMUGGLER comes back in trip and should go well. MERIVALE MAGIC finds a new home. Hasn’t been that bad this prep. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – ALTAMONT WIN RACE 5 TYPE WON has turned a corner in the last month. Dominant maiden winner by 2L before backing up only 48 hours later into a 3 year old race when finishing within 1.5L of Our Boy Dylan, Sassy Trader and Divine Pair. Extremely well placed into this grade and from the inside should kick up and lead them. From there it’s his to lose. ALLURING can mix his form but this is his grade. AMERICAN QUEEN has been repeatedly perfectly placed by Adam Durrant into these country ratings races. INFILTRATOR is going well. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – TYPE WON WIN RACE 6 HE’S A GUNSLINGER is double nominated for Good Friday racing as well as Easter Monday racing at York. If they elect to scratch from the Friday meeting and go to the Monday he looks well placed and hard to beat. Good quality C5 this and there’s a few winning chances but the best of He’s A Gunslinger is strong and from the draw Pateman has options. WEINER WALTZ jumped to the top last start and never looked like being run down. Different horse when he finds the fence. SUPER EX is drawn the inside and is a jump and run type. Great use of the stable apprentice. CHESTEN FLYER hasn’t seen a race of this nature in 3 years. Any trickle of money – jump on. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – HE’S A GUNSLINGER EACHWAY RACE 7 BLAZING PASSION looks the horse to beat coming out of midweek Ascot racing. Won her maiden well and then was far from disgraced finishing within 2L of Excelestial, Beau Zoom and Classic Magnus. Not much depth here and after the claim looks capable of coming across from the middle alley to breeze or even cross to the fence in a race without a deal of tempo. TRADE PRIZE is going well and this is a much easier assignment than he has seen in ages. METALLIC QUEEN normally goes well at the track. WELD a mad one for novelty players coming out of Pingrup. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – BLAZING PASSION WIN RACE 8 JOVELLA is a hard mare to get past when she is allowed to roll to the top in her races and control the tempo. Neville Parker has had a lot of fun with this mare picking his way through the country circuit this preparation. Winner of a C2 at Barker and a 46+ at Narrogin and gets another chance to lead and win. AHYOKA FROST gets a rare senior rider engagement after being ridden by either Laqdar or Keshaw at her last few. Wasn’t far off Jovella last start. DESIGNER PRINCE will need some luck from the draw but he is going in career best form. DANISH GEM has hit a purple patch for local trainer Keri D’Orsogna. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – JOVELLA WIN Quaddie (R5 – R8) 2,5,6 1,2,3,4,6,10 2,4,6,8,9 1,2,3 Market Market
