Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on September 18, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 MINIKA was ridden off the speed first-up and came home hard in a race run more than 5L above benchmark. Draws the inside here and can jump to the top and lead. She looks like she’ll win her fair share. JENJA broke his maiden strongly and then was far from disgraced at Belmont last week. ARCTIC BLUE was strong first-up down the straight. CAPO DEL ARIA was 81 into 11 last week and loomed. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – MINIKA WIN Race 2 CELTIC DIVA should be too strong for a moderate field. Was a month between runs from maiden victory to last Wednesday when making up good late ground in a genuinely run affair. FIRST BLACK is a well related staying mare who looks to be finally putting it together under JT Warwick. PRINCE HAL should get every chance from the draw. FROSTY HEART put in an uncharacteristic shocker last start but can lead without pressure here. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – CELTIC DIVA WIN Race 3 RED CAN MAN may be forced to sit deep the trip from gate 8 but he can sit wide and simply bully his way over the top. All three career runs have been enormous in their own rights and his recent trial was Saturday class. BRAGGADOCIOS returns to the races after a mandatory bleeding ban. Very flashy type who has an abundance of speed. SCANDALOUS MISS is another speedy customer who will look to jump and run. ORACHINO next best. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – RED CAN MAN WIN Race 4 BLACKTASTIC only had two runs in his first preparation and the debut effort suggested he had some ability. Both trials this campaign have been quiet and impressive and he strikes a weak maiden. JARMAN and TAMPERING FALLS both come from the same race behind Bobcat Johnny and both were good enough efforts to warrant respect in this. ALL THE JULZ should enjoy the run of the race. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – BLACKTASTIC EACHWAY Race 5 THE ESCORT drops back to a C3 and looks extremely well placed after the claim for in-form apprentice Jade McNaught. Five starts ago won a 0MWLY and has since been competitive in C5 and 60+ company. Hard to hold out. DEMI GO ROUND jumps straight to the front and there is plenty more wins in this hard as nails mare. VINTAGE STOCK is a hard mare to catch but classy on her day. KORANIS is going for a winning hattrick but this looks harder than his last two. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – THE ESCORT WIN Race 6 ONCE WERE LOST ran a nice race on debut and then didn’t get warm over the staying journey. Mitch Pateman jumps aboard, back in trip, no surprise to see him wind up from a fair way out and be put into the race. MISTINGUETTE has been beaten a fair way so far in her short career but in tougher 3 year old races than this. UNDER THE ARCHERS was the target of strong support last start and ran well. GOLDVEIN an improver. Numbers: 7 – 12 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – ONCE WERE LOST WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,5 2,3,5 2,7 1,4,5,7,10,12 Market Market
