Warren Huntly’s Saturday Sandown Preview Posted on February 24, 2023February 24, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 RIGHT YOU ARE has found a rich vein of form and with race fitness over most of his key rivals looks the one to beat. He stays down in the weights with the rise in grade and should cope with 2100m. SARACEN KNIGHT and HIGH EMOCEAN have been trialling/jumping out well to resume. MIDNIGHT BLUE has also been progressing well through his jumpouts. VOW AND DECLARE has trialled ok. Selections: 6,5,3,4 Suggested Bet: Right You Are to win Race 2 SHUFFLE DANCER takes a significant rise in grade but looks progressive and the form through Wrote To Arataki has stood up well. CALL DI also rises in grade but appears to have plenty of upside. LACED UP HEELS peaked on her run first up and should appreciate the rise in trip. ETERNAL FLAME won a strong maiden in great style last time and is another lightly raced filly with upside. SHE’S LICKETYSPLIT is a proven group performer, she’ll strip fitter and the bar plates coming off is a positive gear change. Selections: 3,8,2,6 Suggested Bet: Shuffle Dancer to win Race 3 Competitive race despite the small field. TOREGENE raced through the grades in terrific fashion last start and has been jumping out well to resume. BARB RAIDER has also been jumping out in good style and seems suited kicking off at 1400m. FORBIDDEN CITY has race fitness and is in good form. ESPIONA hasn’t lived up to the early hype but may appreciate getting back to Melbourne. TURAATH and PRIDE OF JENNI are the only others and they have claims. Selections: 5,1,7,3 Suggested Bet: Small bet Toregene to win Race 4 RICH FORTUNE is building an impressive record and overcame difficulties to win last start. She takes on tougher opposition here but with any luck from the draw can measure up again. SPACEWALK rises in grade but has been competitive at group level and has trialled well between runs. QUEEN OF THE BALL was close up behind Rich Fortune at her latest run and has the speed to offset the wide draw. SEBONACK will strip fitter for an encouraging return behind an in-form stablemate. Selections: 3,4,2,1 Suggested Bet: Rich Fortune each way Race 5 Another competitive race. PERICLES ran well after covering ground first up and should appreciate the rise in distance. MR MAESTRO will strip fitter for his first up run in the same race. HENNESSY LAD is building an impressive record. He steps up in grade after winning well with the benefit of a claim last start. AUSBRED RISING won an easier race in good style last start and looks progressive. Selections: 2,1,3,8 Suggested Bet: Small bet Pericles to win Race 6 EMISSARY has a great first up record and was given a solid hit out winning a recent trial. GOLD TRIP proved too strong for Emissary in the Melbourne Cup, he has also trialled well but an improving track may be a slight negative. SUREFIRE has the recent run under the belt and will appreciate steeping up to 1800m. DENY KNOWLEDGE and KEATS look to control the speed and can give a sight. Selections: 2,1,7,11 Suggested Bet: Emissary each way Race 7 Hard Blue Diamond to sort out with no real standouts. BARBER has done everything right to date, he should’ve derived improvement from his first up win and should secure a decent run from the draw. STEEL CITY brings some strong Sydney form lines and gets blinkers on. LITTLE BROSE chased well behind Barber last time and looks suited getting out to 1200m. VEECEE, BRAVE HALO, EXPLORING and DON CORLEONE are others with a chance but not many would totally shock. Selections: 1,12,4,7 Suggested Bet: Barber each eay Race 8 If I’M THUNDERSTRUCK can take advantage of the draw and settle behind the speed he should be hard to hold out. MR BRIGHTSIDE has form that ties in well with the main hopes, he may settle further forward second up and has strong claims. ALLIGATOR BLOOD looked strong in his most recent jumpout, he’ll roll forward and be typically hard to get past. NUGGET measured up well to this class last time. Selections: 1,3,2,8 Suggested Bet: I’m Thunderstruck to win Race 9 Great race with plenty of chances. LOFTY STRIKE coped well with the 1100m track here last time and will strip fitter. CHAIN OF LIGHTNING had no luck behind Lofty Strike and will be hard to beat if the gaps open up in the home straight. KING OF SPARTA is in great form and maps for a good run. ZAPATEO was the eye catcher behind ASFOORA last start, she has been trialling well and will be strong late. UNCOMMON JAMES will strip fitter for his effort behind Lofty Strike. I AM ME just keeps winning and gets right down in the weights. Selections: 10,11,5,16 Suggested Bet: Lofty Strike each way Market Market
