Warren Huntly’s Saturday Moonee Valley Preview Posted on October 21, 2022October 21, 2022 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Plenty to learn. ARKANSAW KID has looked sharp in a couple of recent jumouts, as has SAILOR’S RUM. MEXICO found the line well under riding in a Randwick barrier trial without the blinkers he wears for his debut. All the others have shown talent at trials and/or jumpouts. Selections: 1,5,4,6 Suggested Bet: Small bet 1 to win Race 2 ESTA LA ROCA will be part of what looks a decent speed and she might prove hard to get past. She has jumped out nicely recently and gets around this circuit well. SCISSOR STEP has also been jumping out well and will appreciate a strong tempo. ASHFORD STREET backs up and had excuses last week following a luckless run here previously. ANCESTRY is a fast horse who has looked good in his recent jumpouts. SARTORIAL SPLENDOR has a case. Selections: 3,9,4,2 Suggested Bet: Esta La Roca each way Race 3 GREAT BARRIER REEF didn’t have the clearest path behind Giga Kick last start and that form reads very well now. SWEET RIDE also comes through some strong form lines and is racing well. SHALAILED measured up well in the Blue Sapphire and looks suited by Nash Rawiller’s strong riding style. BOLDINHO’S recent form is in lesser grade but he’s flying and his early two year old form is strong. SEJARDEN and KINGS CONSORT will be late closers. Selections: 9,2,6,7 Suggested Bet: Great Barrier Reef each way Race 4 GREECE has always been highly regarded and looked well above average winning last start. She looks well up to this grade. WILLINGA BEAST comes through some strong Sydney races and has been holding her own against high quality opposition. SWEETENED ended up in an awkward spot last start and under the circumstances her run was full of merit. PRETTY TAVI quickened nicely to win on debut. EVERGLADE also won her debut in good style. Selections: 12,3,15,16 Suggested Bet: Quinella/Exacta 12 & 3 Race 5 HELL HATH NO FURY looks suited stepping up to 1600m third up. DO IT LA will make her own luck and looks a strong danger. BONHEUR will strip fitter third up and gives the impression 1600m will be ok. VAGRANT has been racing well without much luck. CLIMBING STAR is hard to assess jumping to 1600m following an impressive debut win over 1200m but she has obvious upside. Selections: 5,2,4,3 Suggested Bet: Hell Hath No Fury each way Race 6 Competitive race. MY OBERON brings some solid international form. He has jumped out well and galloped in great style at Moonee Valley during Breakfast with the Best. TUVALU got the right run under handicap conditions last start but can measure up to WFA. BANKERS CHOICE needs luck from back in the field but is going well. CALLSIGN MAV is favoured by the WFA conditions. GENTLEMAN ROY, MILTARY EXPERT and VISINARI are in the mix. Selections: 5,2,8,1 Suggested Bet: My Oberon each way Race 7 BERKELEY SQUARE is a high quality galloper. He’s run well every time he’s been to the races and his closing effort in the Caulfield Guineas gave every indication that 2040m will be ok. VIRTUOUS CIRCLE hit the line strongly in the Stutt Stakes. He races well here and also shapes as though 2040m will suit. FOUJITA SAN may appreciate this trip and is drawn for a soft run. SKYPHIOS might be better suited at Flemington but closed off ok in the Caulfield Guineas. Sir Bailey also comes through the Caulfield Guineas and didn’t have much luck. Selections: 1,2,4,6 Suggested Bet: Berkeley Square to win Race 8 Even race. FRANCESCO GUARDI was outstanding after nearly falling in the Bart Cummings. LUNAR FLARE won this race last year and appears to be going as well, if not better. SACRAMENTO is racing well, his chances improve if the forecast rain doesn’t arrive. Stablemates PERSAN and GRAND PROMENADE have strong claims. DESERT ICON is in great form and has a good affinity with the circuit. SERPENTINE gets winkers off and may give a sight on speed third up. Selections: 11,5,6,1 Suggested Bet: Francesco Guardi each way Race 9 ANAMOE was arguably unlucky to be beaten in this race last year as a three year old. He has returned to racing in outstanding form and as with most of his key rivals looks set to peak on Cox Plate Day. ZAAKI is likely to be right on speed from the inside draw and gave the indication he’s back to something like his best last start. MR BRIGHTSIDE goes well here. He closed of well behind Anamoe etc last start and gets winkers on. EL BODEGON brings solid overseas form and has worked nicely on the circuit. Selections: 10,1,4,12 Suggested Bet: Anamoe to win Race 10 Competitive mares race to finish. MY WHISPER struck interference in a strong race in Sydney last start and ran well under the circumstances. ROOTS has been well placed to win her last two and her three year old form says she can measure up. DOUCER will be strong late and won’t be disadvantaged if the rain has arrived. AGREEABLE won well last start and J.Kah gets back aboard. SIRILEO MISS was back to something like her best last time. Selections: 5,6,4,1 Suggested Bet: My Wisper each way Market Market
