Chris Nelson’s Doomben Best Bets

RACE 5 No.8 Fetch

Promising mare from the O’Dea/Hoysted yard who zoomed home to almost land the prize at Eagle Farm last start only going down by a small margin. Tomorrow’s race is no harder and she drops 2.5kg in the weights on a track she’s won twice at with one being over tomorrow’s 1050m trip. She’ll also have no problems getting through the wet ground. Plenty of ticks!

RACE 6 No.4 Hatchet

Lightly raced galloper from the Heathcote yard who was just a little soft in the market last start fresh off a let-up suggesting he may have needed the hit out. His effort was a good one clocking in 3rd behind his stablemate Extremist & he’s going to strip a lot fitter tomorrow. Unbeaten 2 from 2 on soft ground he’ll handle anything worse just fine, good each-way bet.

RACE 9 No.5 Hail Manhattan

Fourth run back from a break tomorrow he should be at his peak and ready to win. He loomed up at Eagle Farm last week ending up running 3rd beaten less than a length, considering his poor record at that track it suggests he’s on the right track to go a couple better this week. A wet track won’t pose any concerns. Great chance at a price.
