The Scout: EURO 2024 Matchday 13

Slovakia v Romania

Slovakia coach Francesco Calzona has named the same starting team for both games so far and there are no suggestions of a deviation from that plan. That means defender David Hancko has recovered from his hamstring issue, while Robert Bozenik remains the main outlet up front.

Coach Edward Iordanescu has stated that he views this as a must-win game for Romania with all four nations sitting on three points. They have a slight concern over Nicusor Bancu but if he is fit to play, no changes are expected. Razvan Marin and Nicolae Stanciu will be key to winning the midfield battle.

DRAW

Ukraine v Belgium

Ukraine are believed to have no injury concerns ahead of the final group game, including the important Vitaliy Mykolenko. If he starts then Oleksandr Zinchenko could return to midfield, his usual position at national level. Roman Yaremchuk will have taken confidence from his delightful goal in the 2-2 draw with Slovakia.

Romelu Lukaku has had three goals disallowed in two games so will be eager to get on the scoresheet for Belgium. Dodi Lukebakio is suspended, and Leandro Trossard is the obvious replacement in attack. Arthur Theate has recovered from a slight thigh issue; however, Axel Witsel and Thomas Meunier are unlikely to feature again.

Belgium WIN

Czech Republic v Turkey

Patrick Schick is a major doubt having come off with a muscle issue in the draw with Georgia. The striker scored the Czech Republic’s equaliser and would be a huge loss. Mojmil Chytir is the most likely replacement, with Adam Hlozek also an option.

Turkey are well placed to secure qualification to the last 16 but will have to do it without suspended defender Abdulkerim Bardakci. Wonderkid Arda Guler was restricted to 20 minutes off the bench against Portugal and should start this time. Mert Gunok missed that defeat with a knee injury but will return in goal if fit.

DRAW

Georgia v Portugal

It’s win or go home for Georgia given they sit on one point. However, performances suggest that coach Willy Sagnol is likely to go with an unchanged team, though Otar Kiteishvili has a slight injury issue. Georges Mikautadze has scored both of their goals so far and fans will be hoping that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia can be more of an influence in support. Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has caught the eye with his performances.

Portugal have already secured top spot in the group so may make changes to their lineup, resting some older bodies in Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe. Rafael Leao is suspended having been booked for simulation in both games so far. Joao Palhinha and Francisco Conceicao will miss the last 16 if they pick up a yellow card so may not be risked.
