The Scout: A-League Week 7 Posted on December 30, 2021December 30, 2021 | Posted by The Scout Adelaide United vs Wellington Phoenix Adelaide United (11th) are yet to find a win in the A League this season but should fancy their chances at home against a weak Wellington Phoenix (10th) side who have lost three in a row. The Reds have been unfortunate not to have already won a few matches as they had very tight games against Perth Glory, Melbourne City and Brisbane Roar that all resulted in draws. Recent losses to Western United and Melbourne Victory can be forgiven as Adelaide has had a tough run of fixtures that is now starting to turn a corner, with Wellington presenting a great opportunity at maximum points. Wellington have looked awful in their most recent games with three straight losses to Sydney FC, Newcastle, and Western Sydney. The most troubling aspect of these defeats has been the Phoenix’s inability to score goals and only managed one goal during these three losses but have conceded eight. At home, Adelaide is a tough fixture for any team which has been proven by two strong performances against both Melbourne sides. With the recent struggles in attack for Phoenix, I cannot see them troubling the Reds who will get their first win of the season. Suggested Bet: Adelaide United WIN @ $2.05* Western Sydney Wanderers vs Western United Western Sydney Wanderers (8th) have lost back-to-back matches with 2-0 losses to both the Central Coast Mariners and Macarthur FC. Their opponents Western United (3rd) have had a great start to their season but went down last match to Melbourne Victory 3-1. Western United’s defeat to Melbourne Victory snapped a four-game winning streak which saw United’s defense keep four straight clean sheets before conceded three goals to Victory. Losing to Melbourne Victory can be forgiven as they are the best team in the league right now as Western United look to get back to their winning form. Defensively Western United are an elite side which arguably the most formidable backline in the entire league. United’s game plan will be to sit back and contain Western Sydney who simply do not have the firepower to trouble them. Suggested Bet: Western United WIN @ $3.20* Market Market
