The Scout: A-League Week 18 Posted on March 11, 2022March 11, 2022 | Posted by The Scout Brisbane Roar vs Wellington Phoenix Brisbane Roar (12th) sit at the bottom of the A League ladder and have lost their last three matches in a row while Wellington Phoenix (6th) are undefeated in their last six fixtures which includes four wins and two draws. The Phoenix have really turned things around and look like a strong playoff contender having put together impressive recent performances including a 2-1 win over Western United. They play an aggressive style of soccer that has resulted in plenty of goals, scoring at least once in their last six matches. Unfortunately scoring has not been as easy for Brisbane Roar who are tied with Perth Glory as having the least number of goals scored in the whole competition (12). They also enter this match having gone goalless in back-to-back matches. Suggested Bet: Wellington WIN @ $3.20* Western United vs Melbourne City A top of the table clash looms as Western United (2nd) take on Melbourne City (1st) in what looks the most exciting match of the weekend. Western United come into this clash with four straight wins while Melbourne City bounced back from a draw, defeating Macarthur 3-1 in their last match. John Aloisi’s side are a strong contender to take out the title, building their foundation on rock solid defense, at times looking impossible to score against. In their last three wins, Western United have kept two clean sheets and have the best defensive record in the league, having conceded just 12 goals in 15 matches played. That said, if you had to pick any team to break the defensive line of Western United, it would undoubtedly be Melbourne City. City is an offensive juggernaut and lead the A-League in goals scored with a massive 36 goals – 17 more than Western United! Suggested Bet: Melbourne City WIN @ $2.80 Adelaide United Vs Newcastle Jets Adelaide United (3rd) have gone from strength to strength winning two games in a row and their position on the ladder continues to improve. The Newcastle Jets (9th) have hit a wall with back-to-back losses and continue to struggle defensively after their most recent 3-2 loss to Wellington. Under Carl Veart, Adelaide United are becoming more and more difficult to beat and come into this match winning three of their last four. Adelaide striker Hiroshi Ibusuki has become a focal point of their attack, scoring four goals in nine matches and will cause plenty of issues for the Jets. Newcastle simply cannot stop teams scoring on them, they have conceded the most goals in the A-League (26) including 10 in their last five matches. Suggested Bet: Adelaide WIN @ $2.20* *Odds correct as at 9am, 11th March 2022. Market Market
