Scott Embry’s Wednesday Geraldton Preview Posted on April 22, 2025April 22, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TWELVEUNDER looks to have found her most winnable race to date. She’s got the speed to lead and if not can park just behind the tempo and after the 2kg claim again only has 53.5kg on her back. In the race won by Deep Discretion she beat home rivals Big Bopper, Cinnamon Twist, Loona Dawn and Monaco Calling. By process of elimination she’s the one to beat. CHOIXRISKA wasn’t in that event and that could prove to be a good thing. 1120m short of his best but Anthony Barton is a master with these tried horses. LOONA DAWN can park in the box seat. BIG BOPPER covered plenty of ground last start. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – TWELVEUNDER WIN RACE 2 LUCKEE FLORAN has turned a corner out of nowhere and finally put it all together. He won two starts back by 6L and then backed it up last start with another 3L victory. He has walked in his last two and if he holds form he should be making it three on the bounce. Always showed ability but was doing too much wrong, seemingly Willie Parker has figured him out! SAFE HUSTLE and SPIRIT MAN are both backing up off 4 days from the Dongara meeting. Keep safe. SOUTHERN SCANDAL made an impressive debut for new trainer Graeme Hammarquist. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – LUCKEE FLORAN WIN RACE 3 COLLECTIVE just continues to go from strength to strength under the care of Albert Bowtell. There are very few trainers in the State who have a strike rate like Albert and this mare is another perfect example of how he gets his hands on tried horses and takes them to a new level. She sat three deep the trip under 60kg last start and was there to be beaten, but was still too good. 55kg looks a luxury (to be ridden half over). DREAM TO ME probably needed the run fresh and improves here second-up. BE SEATED had his chance to run down Collective last start. PATCHWORK is as consistent as they come. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – COLLECTIVE WIN RACE 4 IL BELLO BEALS kicked clear on straightening last start but didn’t quite see out the mile. 1618m back to 1420m and can lead and control from the inside gate. Think that he’ll take plenty of running down here. EXTRA ZERO did beat him home last start and will likely jump shorter than him here, but he wasn’t exactly convincing in the way he travelled or finished off considering he was $1.70 and Il Bello Beals was $5. SCURGEOFTHEWEST finished off okay on debut over 1200m. TRULY SUPREME showed something last start. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – IL BELLO BEALS WIN RACE 5 LIBERTY DAME has been around the mark all season without winning. She’s been quite a frustrating mare to follow considering her SP profile vs her results, however, hoping that the State’s leading country rider Tash Faithfull going on can be the difference. NEW ATTRACTION has been sparingly raced by Graeme Hammarquist all season. Been rare to see the mare race twice in the same month and he has again spaced her runs and given her 34 days between outings. Back to 1200m maybe a minor query? DEEP DISCRETION got the job done last start but it took a while to wind up. AWESOME LILY a watch back in trip too. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – LIBERTY DAME WIN RACE 6 NAVY SUN was simply too gritty and tough for them last start when winning this track/distance in a 58+. Sneaks back into a C2 and it wouldn’t surprise to see him lead this event. From there he’s hard to run down. A LOT OF CLASS looms as the big danger. Two starts back finished only 2L off Collective. That form reads for itself. BLACK SANDS has only won 1 from 23 but it’s hard to ignore the way he’s been going of recent times. He continues to get back early and then rattle home in the fastest L600 week after week. DUTCH POR has put the writing on the wall at his two runs for Albert Bowtell. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – NAVY SUN WIN RACE 7 MIFF MUFFERED MOOF dropped back in distance to 1600m last start and was really one paced. Think she’s wanting the 1900 and her prior two efforts over the trip were minor placings to form mare Butterfly Rock. Crossing fingers that it’s ground and not the paddock that she needs. SKITTISH never looked like being run down in the Mingenew Cup last start. Reproduces that performance he’ll be hard to run down again? They may have figured out how to ride him? HARD QUESTIONS was the well supported favourite in that event and never travelled the winner. SANABEAU is more than capable on her day as she showed last start with a strong win. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – MIFF MUFFERED MOOF WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3 2,3,4,8 1,2,3,4 1,2,4,9 Market Market
