Scott Embry’s Wednesday Bunbury Preview Posted on June 17, 2025June 17, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 COME ON EMMA was beaten nearly 12L in her trial but she didn’t have blinkers, still travelled well in running and found a lot of traffic on straightening. She sat three deep the trip first-up last prep and ran away from them late. Winnable for her fresh. GIRLS DAY OUT finished third to subsequent winner Lucky I Am and ahead of subsequent winner Magnique firs-tup and then was backed as if unbeatable second-up when rolled late by Empress Of India. Thought she had every chance? SIMPLY ROYALTY trialled super and won accordingly on debut. Nice filly. LOVIN’ ON ME could not have trialled any better. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – COME ON EMMA WIN RACE 2 IN CONFIDENCE looks the winner on paper. Haven’t seen enough from the unraced brigade and the trio who were beaten by Mardusa at Northam – yes, ran into a nice one but were also beaten a serious (and extending) margin. This filly won well at 1200m on debut and then raced down the straight behind Rostislav and beat home subsequent winners Baby Pearl and Sound Of Speed. Odds on all day. FLASH DANCER and TANGO RHYTHM kept battling on behind Mardusa into second and third respectively while BUCKLED faded out to finish fourth after leading. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – IN CONFIDENCE WIN RACE 3 NEW HYMN SHEET was all the rage on debut when backed from $5.50 into $2.35 but never travelled like the winner and didn’t make any sort of impact over the concluding stages. We get a sighter into the strength of that form race in the opener with Simply Royalty and we’ll trust that the 1100 to 1400m is exactly what she needs to find her feet and show her best. Happy to follow considering the volume of market support on debut. COSTA STAR put in a couple of eye catchers early in her prep and DMac trained a double Saturday. Enough to justify keeping her safe. COUSIN MORTIMER finished off okay behind Cheeto and Asphalt. MEGAMERIT was a cheeky run at 150-1 last Wednesday. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – NEW HYMN SHEET WIN RACE 4 DARK AVALANCHE ran well above market expectation on debut down the straight when only beaten 4L by Order Online at 150-1 and then backed it up with another solid fifth beaten 2L by Hope To Rule over 1200. Gets out to 1400m and finds a race without any level of depth whatsoever. GRINGO was grinding his way to the line last start. Very one paced. TRANSCRIBE got run off the track first-up and found the line well thereafter, but could be poisonously short in betting. LINE OF THOUGHT is a wet tracker and can win if they’re swooping down the centre. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – DARK AVALANCHE WIN RACE 5 REPEATER could not have trialled up any better for his return. Looked strong and powerful when matching motors with Paddy’s Flyin’ up the home straight under a hold from Brayden Gaerth. Has a positive racing pattern and a few of the formlines through Dug Another Hole and Chino La Diva more than measure up to this grade. FANTAXTIC is presented first-up, no trial and will also sit right up on pace. Lightly raced 3 year old with some upside. ONLY US was super fresh (like all of Ryan Hills at the moment) but can be hard to trust. HIGHLAND FLAIR is capable on his day. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – REPEATER EACHWAY RACE 6 REAL DELUXE is a jump and run filly who Chanel Cooper guided to her maiden victory. Only beaten 2.3L by Repossession in a 3 year old Saturday last start and only carries 1kg more dropping back into a C3. She’s a one trick pony, but that’s the same trick that Desert Whisper used on Saturday to beat the older horses on a rain affected Bunbury track over the short course. MAGICASH has been first past the post at two of four starts (DQ’d). She’s a proven wet tracker and stalks the speed. DIAMOND DANCER has talent but clearly a few issues and it seems Simon Miller is still trying to figure out her best distance? PACIFIC LADY didn’t run out the trip last start. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – REAL DELUXE WIN RACE 7 NICKELPLAY probably hasn’t quite lived up to expectations placed on her shoulders after some big runs as a 2 year old and her emphatic first-up victory last prep as a 3 year old filly. She’s been to a Burgess Queen, she’s been to a Champion Fillies but now is the time she really needs to stand up. Gets 1.5kg on Fifth Essence for a 1.4L margin and should have no excuse third-up. COSMIC ECLIPSE didn’t beat much fresh but it was more about the manner in which she extended away from them late. FIFTH ESSENCE is doing everything on raw ability at the minute. ZORBRIST can do a lot wrong, but when he tries he’s talented. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – NICKELPLAY EACHWAY RACE 8 DREAM TO ME knows how to win (8 from 20) and has won multiple races on the months’ freshen. Loved her effort last start behind Cherry Can Run and Simply Thinkin’ and should enjoy a far more economical run from a more favourable alley. In a wide open race she’s one of many winning chances. AMERICAN ESCAPE got the job done in a C3 second-up and the horse she beat (Regal Service) went super on Saturday. Only question will be: is barrier 1 a disadvantage by the end of the day? ANCIENT GUIDANCE was back to his best first-up in a ripper return. MANHATTAN STRIP produced a career PB figure first-up to beat Camera Action. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – DREAM TO ME EACHWAY Market Market
