Scott Embry’s Wednesday Bunbury Preview Posted on November 24, 2020November 24, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BARONOVA is having her third start in a short space to commence her career. Backs up off 7 days in characteristic JT Warwick style and her closing effort last start was good enough to figure. Half sister to stakes quality gelding Utgard Loki and she looks like she will make the grade. Not a deep race and one of the chances. DARK LASS was stopped in her tracks on debut. Wasn’t going well enough to win but could have finished in the money. Blinkers on, Pike on and drawn a soft gate. SUNSET CRUISE will find this a lot more suitable than last start in the Champion Fillies. COMEALILBITCLOSER was given every mortal hope by Pateman last start but again should get it awfully soft here. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – BARONOVA WIN RACE 2 LONG MAY YOU RUN went around a fairly short favourite on debut at Ascot as a 2 year old off the back of an impressive trial win. He was stiff to run into a talented filly called Chantorque who has now won four of her five career starts including a Placid Ark Stakes. Recent trial alongside Mischievous Diva was impressive and with the blinkers on he looks the one to beat. JESSISBEST was no match for Lord Augustus last start but you just never know, he might turn out to be a proper horse. Stalks the favourite. CITY CENTRE may look to lead as she does have good gate speed. Disregard the trials under two inexperienced apprentices, they were good enough. KAPTAIN KAOS was a super trial but just worry he gets planted three and four deep. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – LONG MAY YOU RUN WIN RACE 3 SPECIAL PICTURE looks a disappointing effort on paper last start and even in replay if you don’t take notice of track and race patterns. Ended up leader’s back on day where the fence was not the place to be (at least 2-3L inferior) and was in a race where the place getters were all winding up three and four deep. Forget she went around, her previous effort was strong and now Pike goes on at a staying trip. ELLEVISTA got well out of her ground last Thursday in a hot times race. They went 9L faster than maiden average. Makes the effort look a bit better. NICK OF TIME is knocking on the door and should get it soft. FREQUENT FRIAR is no star but Pateman rides stayers better than almost anyone. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – SPECIAL PICTURE WIN RACE 4 IRON SHARP was nosed out by Life For A Life first-up (with subsequent Fairetha Stakes runner up and Guineas fourth place getter Western Empire in third). Last start stepped into a 3 year old 0MW race where he had genuine excuses and was still only beaten a half-length (Ghobella third) when plunged in betting. Drops back into a set weights maiden, drops 3kg and takes on inferior opposition. Looks awfully hard to beat. IGNITE THE FIRE and ISHINCA VIEW were both impressive trial performers who should be winning races in their initial campaigns. Tough ask to beat Iron Sharp on debut but they both look talented. REGUARDLESS isn’t going to get any favours from the barrier but keep safe. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – IRON SHARP WIN RACE 5 BLACK VENTURE and SHOOTING SHIROCCO look like fighting it out on debut and could well end up right alongside eachother in running. Siding with BLACK VENTURE who has schooled up well at the trials and looks to both travel in the run and have a turn of acceleration when asked to go. Thinking he has a fair future and can get the job done on debut from the perfect draw. SHOOTING SHIROCCO has had a few preparations and a number of trials but the most recent two have both been highly encouraging. Looks the logical danger. AT WAR has had a number of opportunities now and we’re at the point where we start to question his desire to win. CHOKSLAM gets back, flashes late, seems to be the same every start for the grey. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – BLACK VENTURE WIN RACE 6 SHEZA CHALMER got the better of Testing Love last start in a high-quality display of speed and ability. From the draw expecting Pat Carbery will have her in a very similar position and while it is tough to step straight from maiden into C1 company she does looks the kind of filly who can go through her grades. BALLADEER draws a gate to sit close handy to the speed and did win well fresh first start in WA. FAIR JUSTICE was a super trial and does have ability. The gate makes it tough but he does have a smart look about him. DANI BELLA is knocking on the door but hasn’t won for a while. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – SHEZA CHALMER WIN RACE 7 OUR IDYLL backs up off 6 days having run a close third behind San Crispino and Bold Success. Is now third up into the preparation and does take a run or two to hit her peak. C5 back into a C3, drawn a gate to sit close handy where Pateman will give her every opportunity. Wide open race and she is one of many chances. ALIMENTARIA ran out of her skin last start on a Heavy8 when only run down late by Naughty By Nature, with Guineas runner-up Em Tee Aye back in third. Looks great form for a C3 at Bunbury. LYLES CHOICE is in career best form but it will need a career best ride from Ramoly to offset the gate. REGENT STAR was a huge surprise packet last start. Can he reproduce? Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 12 Suggested Bet – OUR IDYLL EACHWAY RACE 8 KITGUM has come back incredibly well this preparation. First-up was an eye catcher when third behind Comes a Time and talented 3 year old Bragwell before looming the winner last start on a Soft7 and fading to run third. In review it looks like he might not have even fully handled the surface because he couldn’t seem to show the same turn of acceleration that he has demonstrated in the past. Back on top of the ground, drawn to sit one out and one back, he looks hard to toss. TRADENSIA was a nice quiet trial and she is a lightly raced and immensely talented mare. She will settle close handy and take beating. LOCOMOTIVE is 3 months between runs and clearly has a few issues behind the scenes but his best is easily good enough. ON RED ALERT won well last start but needs to improve again into a C5. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – KITGUM WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 8,9 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,10 1,2,3,8,10,12 2,3,4,8,12 Market Market
