Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on August 16, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MR MEGSEY and BENEATH THE COVERS met last start when running second and third respectively behind Cherry Can Run. Looks the obvious form reference and they look the likely two big players in the finish. MR MEGSEY gives the impression he’ll be better suited at 1400m and draws far better. BENEATH THE COVERS was three deep the trip in that race and now has blinkers added and should find the front. Hard to run down. INTERVENTION was beaten a margin in her trial but hit the line well. SALCHINO has the kilometres in the legs. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – MR MEGSEY WIN RACE 2 DAIS is purely and simply a wet track mare. The more rain that comes in the next 24 hours the better for her, she swims. She backs up off 7 days, drops down to only 55kg with the claim for Taj Dyson and comes through one of the stronger C1 events we’ve seen in recent weeks splitting Knot Secret and Noble Born (who had run 3 year old 62+ placings). Maps a treat and will be popular. DESERT VIXEN looks the obvious danger. Not sure she gets through the conditions quite as well as Dais but she has a turn of foot and is drawn inside of her. ENGLISH HERITAGE chased hard first-up without a trial. LOOKS LIKE MAGIC gets back and has last crack. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – DAIS WIN RACE 3 NICK OF TIME is a 28 start C1 galloper but probably hasn’t seen many races quite this weak. His only win was on a Heavy track and he has been racing like the staying trip will suit. Tucked away midfield with cover he could bob up and out grind his rivals late. Not disgraced in a Westspeed Platinum behind Classic Rogue, Speedy Miss and Inflation last start. STEAK NIGHT is a last start maiden winner who rises a whopping 4kg in the weights after running down Tiger Move and Whaitiri. It’s a tough system. MR FAHRENHEIT is a 19 start maiden and he cops equal top weight. Go figure. Think they might roll forward with him in this. GIN ‘N’ SWANIC is going well for Mack Hall. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – NICK OF TIME WIN RACE 4 MOCHA DREAM was the target of big backing late in betting on debut and found a few traffic problems in the home straight. Gives the impression he’ll be better suited at 1200m, has blinkers added to his gear and Holly Watson is riding particularly well. RATHMINE LADY was a debut winner back at Ascot and has trialled up well for her new stable. LA DETTE accelerated into the corner nicely in her trial and got away from them late. BIRTHDAY BALLOT didn’t get much luck on debut from a tricky gate. Far better drawn here. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – MOCHA DREAM WIN RACE 5 LENIENCY has looked sharp at trials. Professional in a 400m jump out before taking a sit on them in a 1000m trial at Belmont Park tracking through Trespassing before taking the inside running and sprinting clear to win by over a length. Like the way Trespassing went on Saturday behind Baby Paris and from the gate Troy Turner should have him positioned well in running. HOBA WEST is another debutante who has trialled up well. Like the way he attacked the line over 1100 at Lark Hill and importantly looked to get through the Heavy conditions. BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE is drawn to get back but that looks to be her natural racing pattern. Matched motors with a nice one at trials. EXPOROSE will lead and give a kick. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – LENIENCY WIN RACE 6 ZERO CONSEQUENCE looks a horse capable of going through his grades. Beat a very nice animal in Positive Impact in a C1 at Northam before making ground in a 60+ Graduation against the pattern behind Mr Mt Walker and Catalpa. Drops back into a C3 and while he’ll miss the services of CJP the Holly Watson 2kg claim is a luxury at the moment. Tracks his main rivals and can finish off strongly. MONG KHON and LUCKY HEART are his main dangers and both are likely to settle in front of him in running. They look leader and breeze horse and both are going well enough to win. PAMBELLA maps to get a lovely run. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – ZERO CONSEQUENCE WIN RACE 7 DIVINE MERCY is only a Mt Barker maiden winner but the way the Steve Wolfe/Shaun McGruddy combination is going at the moment he’ll run above market expectation. In the last 3 weeks: Classic Rogue, Currimundi (x2), Mr Mt Walker, Knot Secret and River Rubicon. Thought Divine Mercy trialled well alongside Probity and from the draw takes up a prominent position in running. SERVICEMAN comes through the strong C1 1200 behind Knot Secret, Dais and Noble Born. Should hold up as a form reference. ROMMEL’S JEUNEY was beaten at the 600 last Wednesday. Previous run was strong. IDLE STAR gets a gun run. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – DIVINE MERCY EACHWAY RACE 8 LET’SDEAL has contested 8 races in his life, half of those were at Listed Level and his most recent run was in the WATC Derby. Comes back to a midweek C3, is undefeated first-up and trialled well at Lark Hill on 25 July before again heading to the trials on 8 August 2022 (good luck with the replay). Should get a nice run midfield and has always looked to have upside. NORICH was going super until last start when racing on the flat side. Given a months freshen and regular rider back aboard. ENTICING chases hard and gets his preferred track conditions. CHEERFUL MOMENT is an interesting galloper returning to WA. 1200m on the short side. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – LET’SDEAL WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,4,6,7 1,4,5 1,2,5,6 1,4,5,6,7 Market Market
