Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on July 27, 2021July 29, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FREEDOMOFTHEPRESS has been honest and consistent and knocking on the door his entire preparation. Lightly raced compared to the majority of rivals, placed at all three runs in this campaign and with William Pike riding from an inside draw you know he’s going to be given every mortal hope to break through. Will not see a weaker maiden south of the 26th parallel. KARDASHIAN KLASS gives Kieran McDonagh a two prong attack and the filly is likely to be left alone out in front for a long way. Lucy Warwick rates them well and she’ll be there a long way. CAPTAIN CUT was unsuited last start. Previous effort wasn’t that bad in the same race as the favourite. THE WOOLSACK made his debut at the trip and was doing his best late. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – FREEDOMOFTHEPRESS WIN RACE 2 TREASURED STAR is a Cerise and White filly who has had tongues wagging at trials. She’ll be hard in the market for a debutante drawn awkwardly and likely to get a fair way back but the turn of foot she has shown at Lark Hill suggests she’s well and truly above average. Watching for her to steam home late. WUHAN WARRIOR on the other hand is likely to jump and run and find the front for Shaun McGruddy. If he kicks into the corner he’ll pinch a handy headstart and is more than capable of causing the minor boilover. WOMMEL WOCK looks a talent and Paul Harvey will have him right over the top of the speed out of trouble. PRAY AGAIN gets a gun run on debut and has trialled well. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – TREASURED STAR WIN RACE 3 TRIX OF THE TRADE has impressed at each and every trial outing in both preparations. Makes his debut here in an even late season 2 year old midweeker. Drawn in the middle of the line but does look a professional ready-made race horse so hopefully he gets an economical run which should see him highly competitive on debut. Held out a nice type at the trials recently. REAL DANGER has loomed into her trials like she has something to offer and while she’s drawn awkwardly we know these Cerise and White juveniles are untapped. VIA MONTE is likely to come across from the awkward alley to sit up on pace. Good effort last start behind State of Power. SHE’S ARTIE sneaks under the radar. Handy effort on debut. Numbers: 9 – 12 – 1 – 11 Suggested Bet – TRIX OF THE TRADE WIN RACE 4 YANGTZE RAPIDS is double nominated for Wednesday and Thursday so keep an eye on which way Tiarnna Robertson goes because whichever race she selects he’ll be the on top selection. Had outstanding East Coast form and let rip at his WA debut with a powerful turn of foot. Scary to think that most of his racing in previous campaigns was on top of the speed. Versatile and talented. STRAWBERRY MIST is on the fresh side and has been back to trials. Looking for three in a line, looks a nice filly in the making. TUMIVET leads this field and gets some massive weight swings on many rivals. Beware the lightly weighted leader. GHOBELLA backs up again and comes back to 1400. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – YANGTZE RAPIDS WIN RACE 5 TRADE WAR looks a moderate run on paper first-up but it’s simply not an accurate reflection of the quality of the effort at his return. Ran the fourth fastest final 400 behind Secret Plan, Nobel Laurence and Reign of Fire, recording a slightly faster final 400 than All Day Session. Those names are all genuine Saturday types and Trade War finds himself dropping back in grade into a C1. STAR STORM backs up off 7 days after running into a sharp filly in Miss Vasari. Drawn ideally, Pike aboard, looks a big danger. SHES A SWEET DEEL won well last start after being put into the race at the perfect time by McGruddy. Looks a filly with upside. GALLANT RANGER gets the right run and has been consistent this preparation. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – TRADE WAR WIN RACE 6 CRYPTO QUEEN makes things very interesting here. Is a C1 filly coming up into a much tougher 60+ taking on the older, more exposed rivals, however, after the clever use of Madi Derrick’s claim gets in with a postage stamp weight of only 52.5, dropping a whopping 7kg on her last start effort when grabbed in the shadows. Expecting Derrick to allow her to roll as a well credentialled wet tracker with no weight over the sprint trip. WILCHINO was nothing short of horrendous first-up. Pulled up with excuses and has since trialled like the mare we thought she looked like. Forgive and forget. SASSY TRADER is well placed and his fresh run when last in work saw him finish within a head of Our Boy Dylan in a 3 year old 62+. REQUISITION tracks up in behind them. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – CRYPTO QUEEN WIN RACE 7 LONEHAND LARRY would have been one of the most black booked runners in the State at his return from a short let-up when attacking the line over an unsuitable trip on a card when it was hard to make ground out deep. Got to the centre and let down like a horse who will be going through the grades. BLAZING AWAY is coming straight out of a maiden into a C3 however should get across safely from the draw to breeze and from there Paul Harvey is in control of the race, as he was last Thursday when dominating. ANGELIQUE’S FAME on the other hand drops from a C5 back into a C3. Just needs an ounce of luck from a horror alley. APPROACH has X-Factor and while gate 1 is a query, we’ll know whether it’s good or bad by 4:30pm. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – LONEHAND LARRY WIN RACE 8 ARAGAIN looks to have found a lovely race in which to break through for the first time since joining Danny Morton. Let rip at the top of the straight last start and was left a sitting duck for an emerging stayer in Crossaro to gun down. Lost no admirers in defeat, drops in grade from a 60+ back into a 53+ and is drawn a gate to settle tucked away in behind a solid tempo. Gets her chance. REBEL HEART is likely to be on her inside the entire way and if Pike can keep her out of traffic the filly is a big danger. Solid effort in the Belmont Oaks, the race which produced the Belmont Classic winner. LOLLIPOP LANE was produced first-up at a staying trip and ran them along throughout. Impressive return. CHOOSE FREEDOM comes back to a midweeker after honest efforts in Saturday company. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – ARAGAIN WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 4,5,6,7 4,7,9 3,5,6,7,8,15 2,5,6 Market Market
