Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on June 29, 2021June 29, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FORTY NINER gets a wonderful opportunity to follow the leader (and main danger) Choice Bid throughout running and zap him late. Has flashed ability in both campaigns and chased hard behind talented maiden Short Talks, beating home Memorable Miss first-up no trial a fortnight ago. CHOICE BID is suspect late at 1200m but will find the front again without pressure and looks the danger. Lead for a large portion of the race last week on a soft6 and while beaten 2.5L by Celebrity Man had the others covered. SALLY CAN WAIT has trialled up well for her debut. NICK OF TIME likely needs further. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – FORTY NINER WIN RACE 2 GHOST WHO WALKS and CAPTAIN SHARMANE come from far stronger Saturday races back into midweek grade. Both are beneficiaries of handy 2kg claims and both look well suited in this grade. Siding with GHOST WHO WALKS who should hold a lovely spot one out one back and while the last two have only been moderate he was an impressive winner in this grade first-up. CAPTAIN SHARMANE beat him home two starts ago behind Brooklyn Pier and gets 1kg weight swing on him for beating him home. Only query is the slightly tricky draw. Some chance of being caught three deep. CROSS STATEMENT toyed with them at Northam and should find the front again. MEMORABLE MISS sees her first truly rain affected surface. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – GHOST WHO WALKS WIN RACE 3 BANDALERA BEAU won well this track, distance, grade two starts ago over stablemate and subsequent Saturday winner Guard The Safe. Last start nothing went right for Beaux Edwards and he was an immediate forgive and forget type of run. Drops back into a midweeker, is drawn to get an identical run-in transit to when he won two starts ago and meets a fairly even field. Hard not to like winners in 2yo SWP races. MULTINATIONAL did enough on debut in a tougher race to suggest that stepping out to 1400m he could be more than competitive. Liked the way he hit the line late. MY BOY EDDY was well thought of on debut and got a long way back. Extra trip to his liking. QUIDS did nothing wrong on debut and gets a soft run close handy. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 11 Suggested Bet – BANDALERA BEAU WIN RACE 4 CRYPTO QUEEN should relish the soft7 conditions. Won down the straight on debut on a soft6 in style and since then has been competitive in back to back 3yo 0MWLY 1000m scampers on a Good4 and a Soft5. The Sessions stock really get through the going and Brad Parnham should have her on top of the speed and rolling into the corner. POKER FACE is likely to park outside of her and with the claim for Holly Watson is hard to ignore. Improving filly from an in form yard. MYSTIC LOVE was the target of backing on a number of occasions last preparation and ran some nice races including a third to Hot Zed. MAGNUSON MAN is in an awkward part of the preparation but gets the right run. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – CRYPTO QUEEN WIN RACE 5 FREE SOLO destroyed moderate opposition on a soft7 at 1500m two starts ago at Pinjarra Park and then at Belmont 7 days ago never really got through his gears. Looks to have returned very one paced and needs to wind up into his races. Plugged away in behind them beaten almost 6L and the way he’s been racing he looks to be screaming out for the staying trip. Has some upside. CROSSARO put in an eye catcher in C3 grade three starts ago behind progressive staying mare Lady Duckworth and again behind Baronova. Looks ready. VELVET ROOM has been hit and miss so far this preparation. Sneaks under the guard. TACTICAL PLOY was gifted the race last week. Again leads and controls. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – FREE SOLO WIN RACE 6 PEKO is always highly competitive in this kind of grade when drawn a barrier. Brings a lot of alternate form references having raced in the provincial and country circuit over the summer/autumn. Win at Kalgoorlie two starts ago over a handy mare Miss Zedel was strong and from the gate Victoria Corver can have the mare where ever she likes in running. Looks a nice assignment for her. BEANIE ran home nicely first-up at Northam and is proven on the wet track. Pike aboard and the stable producing lots of winners. LUCY DA GREY comes from the same race and gets a 2kg weight swing in her favour as well as a much softer draw. SUPER TEROITOA will come out running. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – PEKO EACHWAY RACE 7 TREVELLO seem to run for Jett Stanley. Broke a long drought four starts ago beating talented filly How’s The Serenity and then has run two minor placing since with the 3kg claimer on his back. Tough watch last start when searching for a run for the majority of the home straight and gets his chance to bounce back here. REGAL MAGIC and PATROCITY both come back into the right grade for the first time in a while. Easy to make a case for each of them having form around much stronger and classier types than what they meet here. BELLE OF LIBERTY won well in a lowly c58+ at Kalgoorlie fresh. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – TREVELLO WIN RACE 8 OHBEEH was scratched on Saturday to save for Wednesday and wait for the rain affected surface. First-up winner in a 58+ on a soft6 when leading throughout and winning in style. Snippy Miss made the form look even stronger on Saturday and he is very well placed back into a 54+. After the claim for Holly Watson gets in with a winnable weight and this race could be dominated from the front with the two class horses likely to settle first and second in running. PRINCE DEVOUTLY is drawn underneath Ohbeeh and if they elect to ride him for speed, he can kick up underneath and even find the fence. Brilliant run in a 60+ at his return off 474 days when last in work. ROCKY PATH looks set for a big campaign after a dominant fresh win. SEA WAR ran well in the same race and Steve Wolfe is on fire. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 11 – 8 Suggested Bet – OHBEEH EACHWAY RACE 9 NELSON’S FLIGHT is a mad throw at the stumps. Out and out wet tracker, class dropper (last seen in this grade 24/11/2019 when winning with 60kg) and will go round at double figures. Last start was an uncharacteristic shocker but his previous effort when held up into the corner wasn’t bad beaten 3.5L by Bruce Almighty, Billy Ain’t Silly and Tinsnip. Only need to go back five starts ago to see him run second behind Windstorm on a soft6 in 66+ grade. BUTTERLEA LAD is likely to come across with him and is going well this preparation. Always promised to go through the grades. CRISTAL DANE is looking to break a Belmont Park hoodoo but she’s in the form of her life. MISS MARANTA is a noted wet tracker and gets the right run. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – NELSON’S FLIGHT EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,3,4,6,7 1,2,3,4 1,2,8,9,11 1,2,4,5,6 Market Market
