Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on June 29, 2021June 29, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 RUBILICIOUS ROSE is a long-time maiden who has never run a place. She has now had two starts for the new yard and been impressive on both occasions. Luckless in a winner producing race behind Sunsphere, Tena Koutou, Celebrity Man and Free Solo two starts ago and then not disgraced behind Free Solo on a soft7 last time out. Worth a nibble if the price is right. OCEANZARA gets her chance. Always shown a level of ability and always gone round hard in the market. If she can overcome the wide draw she’s hard to toss. BETTER IN KIT clearly has ability but does a few things wrong. Will be breaking maiden status sooner rather than later, just goes round continually short. LITTLE SES an improver. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – RUBILICIOUS ROSE EACHWAY RACE 2 FREEDOMOFTHEPRESS resumed first-up no trial at Northam a fortnight ago over 1300m and ran a solid second behind Zac Luvs To Fly beating home fellow opponent and main rival Zeewijk. From the draw can again come across and has looked an improving type of maiden. ZEEWIJK is having his second preparation for Steve Wolfe and was competitive in tougher races than maiden company early in his initial campaign. Solid return. GARAGE DAYS just continues to find ways to get rolled. Better than your average maiden but riddled with hard luck stories. POSTER ART can run a race on debut from the inside draw. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – FREEDOMOFTHEPRESS WIN RACE 3 MR FAHRENHEIT has been a frustrating horse to follow over the years. He clearly has a turn of foot, he clearly has ability but he also runs his races in patches and does tend to go round under the odds in his races. Keshaw Dhurun brings a point of difference with his 3kg claim and kept out of trouble he can finally break through. LET THE DUST FLY was excellent at her return to racing and then wasn’t too bad last week. On the quick back-up, keep safe. PRIVATE POET is the kind of horse who will find his race. Rolls along out in front. EXQUISITE STAR has been building towards a win and this isn’t a deep race. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – MR FAHRENHEIT WIN RACE 4 QUEENSHIP makes her debut for the Justin Warwick yard and her recent trial suggests she’ll be hard to beat in a fairly thin maiden. Lead them throughout to win a 950m Lark Hill trial in style and there is lots of moderate exposed form from rivals and a tricky draw for others. Looks a nice starting point for her. STRAKIN ran well on debut behind Cross Statement and Better In Kit. If Cross Statement is competitive in a 3yo 0MWLY at Belmont on Wednesday her form will look super. RIG A DIG showed enough at trials to be a top 4 chance. SOUTHSTAR is no star but gets the right run. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – QUEENSHIP WIN RACE 5 GINGER BAKER put the writing on the wall first-up when charging through them at odds in a 3 year old 62+ at Belmont when finishing fifth behind The Spruiker and Timely Outburst. That pair have won another 3 between them and the beaten brigade included subsequent winners Sheza Chalmer and Astro Warrior as well as talented types like She’s God To You, Allmamoney, No Surrender, I’m Eugene and Kerman Rock. Last two have been pass marks and with W.Pike on he gets another go. ZAC LUCS TO FLY an impressive last start maiden winner who has started to finally put some runs together consistently. NOBEL KNIGHT who did it tough on debut to score and has since gone on with it. CANTO DE GUERRA gets it soft from the inside. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – GINGER BAKER WIN RACE 6 GHOBELLA looks again very well placed by Steph Bakranich first-up. Winner of a 3yo 0MWLY when last in work defeating talented types Son Son and No Surrender. Finished the campaign with a luckless seventh in a Saturday 3 year old plate behind La Farola and The Spruiker. First-up was a tough watch when getting well out of her ground and searching for runs along the inside. OUR PANDEMONIUM is bursting to win a race and the most recent placing splitting Rocky Path and Sea War is a form reference we’ll see on Wednesday at Belmont. VERDANDI was well commissioned last start. She’s getting closer and closer. TALENTED ESCAPE brings alternate East Coast form. Best is good enough but may need further. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – GHOBELLA WIN RACE 7 MATERIAL WITNESS and FOREST WAR look like two handy Saturday sprinters in the making. Both have raw ability, both are green and both will be doing their best work late. Siding with MATERIAL WITNESS who is likely to settle a fair way off them but can really reel off some impressive late splits when the gaps appear for him. Expecting Pike to ride him patiently and save him for one last crack at them. FOREST WAR was a tough run to dissect last start. Hit a flat spot at the 600 and lost touch with them. Came hard late but lost a little trust? DRINKWHATYOULIKE is a different mare when she can find the front and with the claim expect to see her rolling. DANNY GEORGE is well suited to this grade. Is his best behind him? Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – MATERIAL WITNESS WIN RACE 8 RUN D’AFFAIRE RUN is not the most classy galloper but will again burn his way to the top and roll. Perfect horse for a claiming apprentice like Tyla Becker and if she can reproduce her last ride on him 25 days ago then see no reason why we wouldn’t be following up. Takes luck out of the equation and if he gets things his own way (which he should on paper) then he’ll take beating. WHAT ABOUT MOI is drawn an ideal gate to stalk up in behind them and then burst through once the gaps appear along the cutaway. Talented 3 year old who can measure up in town. VITAL FLIRT is going from strength to strength and with Kayla Farrell heading to Broome she joins David Harrison. OXBRIDGE ran into a pair of handy 58+ mares last start in I’m Pretty and Speedy Miss. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – RUN D’AFFAIRE RUN EACHWAY RACE 9 ELAFELLA was a tough, fighting victory two starts ago with 60kg and last time out was an alarming drifter when the shades came off and he ran an honest fourth without ever looking a winning chance in running. With the claim for Holly Watson hoping to see him find the front again and if he does he can bounce straight back. Back in grade, back in trip and down 3kg in weight. ALLEZ ALLEZ is the horse that William Pike jumps aboard and the third placing behind Said No One Ever was excellent from a times and sectionals perspective. No surprise to see the market side with him. PRETTY FRIAR comes from the same race but will need luck. ONE FOR THE ROAD will keep coming late. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – ELAFELLA WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,5,7 1,2,3,4 1,2,4,6 1,2,4 Market Market
