Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on August 6, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 BOOTLEG RASCAL steps up sharply in trip. Was strong in the market last start when chopped out at a crucial stage when trying to find a gap between runners. Can bounce straight back in a moderate race. TOO CLOSE THE SUN is first-up at 1700 but comes from a stable who can produce them over a trip fresh. Trialed well. RAYMONDO has always given the impression he would stay so the step up in trip suits. BRAVE CALL was savaging the line last start. Rare runner from the stable who settle offs speed. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – BOOTLEG RASCAL WIN Race 2 GREAT HEIST was scratched from a fairly winnable race on Saturday to be saved for this. Extended very impressively late in a recent Lark Hill trial. If Kirby jumps with them expect he looks to sit in the breeze. BOOMTASTIC was well supported throughout betting on debut in a race which looked a bit short. Finished off well late in the piece and from the draw, with the shades on, can improve sharply. IS A BOMBSHELL won well last start in a race which has already proved a strong form reference. WINDSTORM is a regally bred son of the late Redoutes Choice and trialed like he would be winning races this preparation. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – GREAT HEIST EACHWAY Race 3 THREE SECRETS has always promised to go through the grades but has always been awkwardly placed in the ratings for the Wolfe yard to place him. He returns here first-up, no trial with 61.5 but has rarely seen a C1 field in his life. His best is fresh and his best is far better than these can produce. DEANGLES could be the danger. He showed a big turn of foot two starts ago. SIR MAMBO is going well and the claim looks a wise option in a race with heavily compressed weights. ENSIGN PULVER can improve off the quick back-up. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – THREE SECRETS WIN Race 4 FLAGSTICK only comes from a moderate Kalgoorlie maiden but she looks to have come back well this preparation and falls into a weak C1 fillies and mares race. The first-up effort from well off them was strong and the Kal win was good enough. REGAL MAGIC drops back in trip and lumps a big weight but is racing very well. RICH TURF took a long time to break through but did it in style. OLIVIA KNOWS has been racing well since joining the Sigley camp. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – FLAGSTICK EACHWAY Race 5 OLGA LOUISA is a mare who can go through the grades this preparation. Has some strong 3 year old form on the board and in a high speed race can sit off them and come with one run late. CITICHANT is a speedster and with the engagement of Bennett expect them to let her run. VITAL DANCER bounced back to form last start and this race has a similar profile. AMARILLO ROSE was a nice two year old and she is likely to have a lot of supporters here. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – OLGA LOUISA WIN Race 6 MAGIC LAS VEGAS drops in grade and backs up off only 4 days from Saturday. Rarely far from the action, settles on speed and this looks a nice assignment for him to break through. MERIVALE MISS showed staying ability last start and now has the shades on and draws a nice gate. VINTAGE STOCK looks like she is screaming out for this trip. PICTURE PERFECT looks like he will stay but this is his first test against a few race hardened types. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – MAGIC LAS VEGAS WIN Race 7 LICKETY SPLIT should be ready fourth up into the preparation. 1400m is his go and for the first time in the campaign he has a senior rider engaged. Should stalk the speed and give a big sight. NEXT STOP THE MOON comes from a C1 race where he absolutely brained them. If they let him cross and control he’ll take a stack of catching. KATUSHA was an enormous win last start. Like to see her do it again. DANEFIN doesn’t win out of turn but has the turn of foot to skip up the cutaway and win. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – LICKETY SPLIT WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4,5,6,7 1,2,3 1,2,4,8 2,5,8,10 Market Market
