Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on October 28, 2025October 28, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SPIRITED STRIKE burst through traffic to break his maiden at Northam over 1000m and then held his own from leader’s back when splitting Vandoula Jet and Friar’s Legacy in a 3 year old 0MWLY 1200. Chris Parnham returns to the saddle, the small field suits and he looks to get a great chance at another early career win. HASANI has had a 6 week freshen, likely to get him through the rest of his preparation as they try to step him out over ground across the carnival. Back to 1200m isn’t ideal but he’s the class runner and well weighted after the Cooper claim. DIAMOND WARRIOR was a solid return and maps to get a gun run. INTOXICATING was fair at Northam, 3kg claimer to Pike is always worth lengths. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – SPIRITED STRIKE WIN RACE 2 PYGMALION just needs to overcome a tricky barrier to play a big part in this C1 1200. Fresh he won his maiden over 1100m when beating subsequent winner Salty Miss and then second-up went to a 0MWLY when finishing less than 2L off Just Saint James in a very high rating race (overall time 5L faster than average). Back into a C1, out to 1200m and had placed to Snitzalatte and Elite Beau as a 2 year old. He has the best race form, he just has an awkward map. BOUSSAC was plunged at nearly every start last campaign. The market loves him, the punters need a collect some time soon. Trial was alright. SUPIDO EXPRESS has returned in good order and should be winning one soon. RIVER ANGEL resumes at 1200m which could be a test for her? Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – PYGMALION WIN RACE 3 MAGICASH just looks like she’ll be right place, right time. With the likes of Sunlit Fresco and Oliviasmemumma drawn to her inside expect that Pike will allow that pair to kick through underneath him and then just tuck in to a stalking position. From what we’ve seen so far in her career fresh is best and 1000m is her preferred distance. Like the set up. LONG SERVICE LEAF made a big impression on debut here at Belmont when winding up powerfully to win after being crunched in betting. Wasn’t the same horse at 1200m at Ascot, however, when the first 600m is run 7L slower than average and you’re leader’s back with the rail out – that’s not a great position. Don’t sack him off one below par run. OLIVASMEMUMMA returned well in a higher grade. COONDLE is as honest and consistent as they come. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – MAGICASH WIN RACE 4 CAWARRA was no better than three and four deep the trip without cover at Northam and still had the audacity to loom as a winning chance on straightening. She was entitled to put up the white flag and fade out of contention but she dug deep and managed to finish fourth. The winner went to the Belgravia (beaten <2L), the runner-up won at $1.90 on Sunday and she’s now drawn to get the run of the race second-up at 1200m. THREE VIRGOS will attract plenty of attention. Williams Racing debutante off the back of a 2L trial win, but just always wary of those 930m back straight trials at Lark Hill. ZALIS GIFT drops 2kg from a 3 year old mid-weeker into an All Age Maiden. MAALIS SONG ran well in every start in his initial campaign. Went back in the trial, goes forward on race day. Numbers: 10 – 13 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – CAWARRA EACHWAY RACE 5 SUMMER’S LEGACY should be ready third-up. First-up was held up on straightening as a staying type of mare who needs momentum more than anything in her races, second-up was doing her best work late again at 1400m screaming out for further and now third-up gets to 1650m and they pull the trigger on booking Pike. Looks hard to hold out. IM CRAFTY showed a great turn of foot to work his way through heavy traffic and score over 1200m and then has been a victim of circumstance at his next two outings. He’s going super an sneaks back into a C3. His last 7 have been in higher grade. Big danger. SHAULA was crunched in betting and got himself out of serious trouble to win impressively. SIDE SHOW is building. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – SUMMER’S LEGACY WIN RACE 6 STARTLING STAR won a 1650m maiden three starts ago beating subsequent winners Old Mate Henry (x2), Exquisite Taste (x2), Zoomachino, Miss Veuve and Guns Away in a remarkably strong form race. Since then she backed up off 7 days and raced flat, was given a 28 day freshen and settled near last in a race where they ran the first 1200m 20L slower than average (yes, 20) and now she’s out to a staying trip and has a senior on. SALARY MAN will work his way forward and while very one paced does keep coming under hard riding. AL UNIQUE has a gear change and a senior going on. LATHAMS WISH sustained a long run down the outside fence to get the job done for his iconic ownership group. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – STARTLING STAR WIN RACE 7 RAINLINE was a 2 year old Saturday winning filly who lost her way for a while but has been working back to her better form this preparation culminating in a last to first Westspeed Platinum win last start over 1400m at Ascot under Willie Pike. They set that race up for her going too fast in front (for their level of ability) and she was the big beneficiary over the top, but this race also has plenty of top end tempo and she only rises 1kg into a similarly graded affair. Hopefully got her confidence back. SENTIMENTAL BELLE is right back in grade as they look to pinch one more before the next chapter of her life. 11 of her last 12 in higher grade and loved her last run. MIA GUSTO is only having her fourth run for new trainer Gregory H. Kersley and the last two have been career best. She’s flying. ISHKUR has turned into a very trustworthy mare. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – RAINLINE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,8,10,13 1,2 1,2,3,5,7,8,9 2,10,11 Market Market
