Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on November 12, 2024November 12, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 KING HIT and SPICE IS RIGHT have met previously, SPICE IS RIGHT and TACTICS have met previously and they look your three big players in the opener. Going to stick with KING HIT after he made amends for his luckless 3 year old Plate run behind Elite Missile with a dominant 2.4L maiden win at Northam. He’s drawn well and he’s versatile. TACTICS has the blinkers coming off and gets out to 1400m after finding them too sharp over the short course on Melbourne Cup Day. SPICE IS RIGHT could be a different horse if he finds the front. SNIPPY SEAN next best. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – KING HIT WIN RACE 2 LAST STYLEBENDER should prove hard to beat here. This is his fourth career start and the first time in his life that he has been to a maiden. Scratched from a 60+ Graduation on Saturday to save for this and provided he steps cleanly he should be finding a forward spot in running. Norich has already won out of his first-up assignment and he’ll be understandably popular here. RAY’S SAUCE finished only 3.5L off Nonesospicy on Melbourne Cup Day and drops 3.5kg into a maiden which is a luxury. OUR SHILLAYLEIGH is a nice type resuming off a sharp trial. ART SESSION is two from two at trials and also looks above average. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – LAST STYLEBENDER WIN RACE 3 CLOSE TALKER had an excuse first-up (rider dropped whip), had an excuse second-up (held up at a crucial stage) and had an excuse third-up (wide throughout). Carries the same weight in a C1 here as she did last start in a C3 and is racing extremely well. If (fingers crossed) she can get across from another tough gate and find a spot she’ll be hard to beat. PSYCHO SISTA was simply too quick for them at Northam. Allowed to stride by Jade McNaught she stopped the clock 5.5L faster than maiden average. ROMMEL’S GODDESS won impressively last start. SWEET ADMIRATION comes on quickly. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – CLOSE TALKER WIN RACE 4 ON PATROL is a 19 start C1 but has raced in exclusively higher grade his entire career. Fresh run was strong behind Ain’t No Other Man, second-up made good ground in a race dominated from the front behind Norich and on paper this is the most winnable race he has seen. Now or never. DON’T TRUST JUDAS has blinkers on first time and trialled up well at Lark Hill recently. Maps to get every chance. GOLDEN DORE has a big L600 on him when ridden cold. THE KINGS UNCLE was a nice trial. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – ON PATROL WIN RACE 5 FAMOUS DAIN gave the impression on Melbourne Cup Day that he was looking for further. In a messy run C3 1800 he got a long way back and was working home powerfully late from last. His strongest 200m was his last 200m so expecting him to be winding up late at his first attempt at a staying trip. LORD RANDOLPH toyed with similar opposition to this two starts ago and then found the step to Saturday grade a bridge too far. He can win this. CANDLELIGHT SHERIF is a real one batter who will keep whacking away. HOIST THE COLOURS improves with the senior back on. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – FAMOUS DAIN WIN RACE 6 CHEEKY CHARLOTTE burst onto the scene early winning a maiden by 2L and a C1 1200 by three quarters (subsequently disqualified) before finishing third to Angel Undercover and Wubin Gold. Forget she went around last preparation (wet tracks) and her prior form is good enough to give this a shake at odds. GO GO GROMMET can be hit and miss out of the machine, but if he jumps cleanly and is ridden for speed like he was in his recent trial then he’ll go well. HOW PRETTY chased hard fresh at Northam. UNIVERSAL PLAYBOY always an X-Factor. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – CHEEKY CHARLOTTE EACHWAY RACE 7 TON OF GRUNT ran a ripper on return behind Richanco at Bunbury on a day where it was extremely hard to make ground and then second-up couldn’t quite get over the top of subsequent winners Kelora and Idyllic Ruler. Should be peaking third-up and strikes a very evenly graded race. SIMPLY THINKIN’ was the beneficiary of a great ride from CJP last start, now it’s Lucy Fiore’s turn. MORE LIKELY gets 2kg on Simply Thinkin’ for their last encounter for a 2L margin and was brave last start when wide throughout. LANO is better than his last run would suggest. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – TON OF GRUNT EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,6,9,10 5,6,9 3,4,6,8,11 1,2,4 Market Market
