Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on October 17, 2023October 17, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MOORDITJ BOY destroyed rivals in one of these 3 year old 0MWLY at Belmont before being tipped out for a break. His recent trial effort was highly impressive and there looks a great opportunity for Jarrad Noske to roll forwards and park him up over the speed. If he gets across he’s hard to get past. MASAMUNE ran a good race at his return. There was a while between his trial and his return to racing due to abandoned/transferred meetings and he should only improve for the run. Obvious danger. CHAMAPAGNE STREET was much improved back on top of the ground. CATCH THE RED EYE is going super. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – MOORDITJ BOY WIN RACE 2 RED TORI caught the eye at trials about as much as Brad Parnham riding 54kg on a Wednesday. Like the way she accelerated when asked for an effort and she looks like she’s got sufficient tactical speed to bounce out and take full advantage of her inside barrier. She’s drawn to get every chance in what looks a winnable race. WEERAECHOUX has the best race form of any horse in this maiden by lengths, however, it’s anyone’s guess where Lucy Fiore ends up from a shocking gate. BILL SELECTS has always promised to win a maiden but continues to find one or two better each time. MISS GRAPHENE went to the line strongly in a soft trial at Lark Hill. Numbers: 16 – 6 – 5 – 15 Suggested Bet – RED TORI WIN RACE 3 SHOOTING SPIRIT trialled like a 3 year old who could go straight to the races and get the job done. The barrier looks awkward on paper (8 of 12) but he’s shown sufficient gate speed and professionalism at the trials to suggest that he can overcome that obstacle and take beating on debut. Like the look of him. JANNY has a narrow minor placing to Saturday’s impressive winner Cosmic Crusader. She was asked for little at trials and holds all the cards from barrier 1. Big danger. OUR NEMESIS skipped right away at trials to record an impressive win. Have to respect off that. SALARY MAN makes his Danny Morton debut and can roll forward. Numbers: 8 – 10 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – SHOOTING SPIRIT WIN RACE 4 DEVONIA is first-up at 1800m which is a serious ask but Brian Kersley is the type of trainer who could pull that off and Devonia is certainly a mare who is always looking for ground. She finished third in the Keshi Boom, Budgerigar trial over 950m and was going really well late and through the line. She’s likely to go round double figures in a race without any stars. Worth consideration at that price. NIIGATA hasn’t been seen since winning at Belmont back in August. She’ll be finishing hard if they turn it into a true staying test. ACERMETRIC romped home in the Moora Cup after sitting deep. The times out of that race were massive so expecting he’ll meet with early betting support. DANCING JACK finished third in a Boulder Cup only two starts ago. Just hard to trust. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – DEVONIA EACHWAY RACE 5 BE AWESOME looks hard to beat in this C1 1800. Broke through at his second career outing over 1600m and then had to go up in grade to a 3 year old Saturday and had to come back in distance to 1400m. All things considered thought he held his own behind Pleasure Cruise and the way he races he’ll see out 1800 no worries. Hard to ignore these 3 year olds against the older horses at the mid-weeks. GOD’S GARDEN is flying. She’s finished second at all three runs since breaking her maiden and never gave up the chase behind Penny On The Queen at Northam. OCEAN QUEEN seems to run for Brayden Gaerth and does no work from the gate. BIG RED HAWK was a handy return at Geraldton. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – BE AWESOME WIN RACE 6 DIALLING and BEST MOOD are both last start country maiden winners who will likely hold ~66% of the betting market between them. Never easy to go from a maiden to a C1 and win with more weight let alone come from a country maiden and do it in town, however, the win of Dialling at Kalgoorlie was dominant and the second placing on 2 September splitting Lord Lala and Augment reads up particularly well. BEST MOOD was a high priced yearling who got home on debut at Geraldton. Query the form and the map. MARRI MARTINI trialled nicely but hasn’t really fired yet this prep. QUINDANDINO next best. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – DIALLING WIN RACE 7 DESERT NYMPH and her followers will likely know their fate before Race 7 even jumps. If the sea breeze is in and they’re starting to make ground from off the speed then she’s extremely well placed having finished only half a length off Colossal, beating home subsequent winner Scenic Eclipse last start in a 60+ Graduation, however, if they’re not making ground then she’ll be in trouble. Wait and see type. DANCE BOSS is coming out of an impressive maiden win and looks progressive. Can hold a far better spot than Desert Nymph in running. AFTER PARTY was a huge first-up winner last prep. SATURN BLACK can always run a race fresh at odds. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – DESERT NYMPH WIN RACE 8 PENNY ON THE QUEEN was stepping from 1200m to 1600m at Northam and parked in the breeze with 59.5kg in a race where they ran along throughout. The overall race time was 3.5L faster than C3 average and she was doing all the donkey work up on speed. Now that she’s finally broken that long run of outs she should be able to get her strike rate back on track. Nice race for her. DIAMOND SCENE will likely need every inch of a mile. He wasn’t disgraced in the 3 year old features last season. BUCKEYE BULLET has only had three starts for Steph Bakranich and they’ve all been excellent. KENTUCKY BLUE can come on quickly. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – PENNY ON THE QUEEN WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,6 1,5,6,7 1,3 1 Market Market
