Matt Young’s Friday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on July 9, 2026July 9, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 SHEER ROCK LADY (3) is second up and has the draw advantage to bounce on the lead, her trial and first up run weren’t as sharp as you’d like but her prior form is strong and expecting a sharp improvement in this. CAPTAIN SAID SO (4) is in top form, he has plenty of high speed but doesn’t normally do his own dirty work so will need some cover at some stage. MINOR CATASTROPHE (2) will ping out and look to lead and be leaders back in the run and she is racing well to be in the money again but doesn’t win out of turn. CAPTAINS CREEK (5) is a novelty chance, but the map looks slightly awkward with MANEA (1) and INTO THE FUTURE (11) both top 4 chances. Tips: 3 4 2 11 Suggested Bet: SHEER ROCK LADY (3) to win. Race 2 Interesting battle here with LADY CAMEL (1) a good front running type and think she has been racing well but will have some pressure early, either way she will get a good run and will go well here. UP AND ALIVE (2) is in top form and is a bold front runner, she is the one to beat if she can find the rail. FULL SWING DENARIO (3) might be able to just tuck in behind them early and be close enough for a final burst. POPPYONTHEBEACH (12) will be running on well with her versatility. MUNROES MATE (11) has had three runs in the state, and all have left more questions than answers and that includes the win too, cautious. Tips: 2 1 3 12 Suggested Bet: LADY CAMEL (1) each way. Race 3 BLAZE AWAY (1) has been crying out to win a race and this draw might seal the fate for his rivals, he is a brilliant front running type and applies himself strong when pacemaker, very hard to beat in this. WHOS THE DAD (2) is a good place chance as I think he could potentially get in behind the pole marker in the early stages and if he can he will run a place. SPITFIRE (10) lacks early brilliance and could miss the spot due to that, overall ability is good but also a tricky draw for a horse who likes to be out and rolling. EASTBRO CHRISSY (5) up against the boys will roll forward and be on speed with MEDIEVAL MAN (9) looking to get close, forget his last run prior form was first class. ELITE FLEET (11) and SOHO MOONRAKER (12) both be getting home well. Tips: 1 2 11 10 Suggested Bet: BLAZE AWAY (1) to win. Race 4 MACHNIFICENT (1) has options from the draw but thought they would go more conservative with plenty of pressure to the outside here and hopefully capitalise late, all scenarios look good for him. INSTA GATOR (2) was sound on return off the back of a couple of nice trials, will be looking for the top and LUCCA (3) is ready to win but needs to negotiate the inside runners early, he got fired up last start which could set a genuine tempo. HEAVENLY GIPSY (6) is one that can ping out and have a good look, she has been unlucky in most of her races this time in and would be hard to catch if she could cross. TIGER ROYAL (11) trialled up sharply and will get a soft run and run home well. HALE SAINT LOUIE (8) needs luck from the wide draw and an awkward draw for MASTER PUBLISHER (5). Tips: 1 2 3 6 Suggested Bet: MACHNIFICENT (1) each way. Race 5 BETTORS PRIDE (2) is in dazzling form and looks to use his early brilliance to bounce on the lead and has proven he can run good times at the longer distances when leading, hard to beat again. SWEET PINS (3) has been flying but will need a touch of luck as his main danger is likely in front, from the draw he will be close enough and his high speed will make him look threatening at some stage. NEVER ENDING (5) is back and it’s great to see, long distance first up and an awkward draw, he ticks very few boxes and likely driven back and for one run and his high speed is brilliant, but it looks awkward for him, nevertheless great to see him back. YOURE SO FINE (12) will be running on well, he could fly under the radar in this but has proven himself with BRICKIES DREAM (11) expected to run home well. Tips: 2 3 12 11 Suggested Bet: BETTORS PRIDE (2) to win. Race 6 PAROQUET (12) is right up to these, can settle early and then work around, she had a horror trip last time out and dropped out and that’s my only concern is if she has taken harm from that run, otherwise she will go very close on prior form, major player in this. ARIONROCK (1) gets the draw and likely uses it, will run a big race in this and form has been solid for a while. RAKLOU (10) is a hard horse to follow but drawn softly and does race better on the pegs. BEAT THE BANK (2) is a place chance if he can get down to the inside early and potentially be leaders back. ELWADELL (3) returns and may need a run, TURBO JAY (4) yet to return to his better form and draws a bit tricky. ME FLASH (5) racing well and will look to go forward but will have questions asked mid race. ILLAWONG MUSTANG (7) is quick and might have an early look, could give a sight if he pinged to the lead. CHEKKER (11) racing well and can cuddle up, plenty of chances. Tips: 12 1 2 7 Suggested Bet: PAROQUET (12) each way. Race 7 STORMY VISTA (4) looks a big chance to be the first one on the leading pack and likely nonchalantly ambles to the front under strong urgings, once he is in front, he seems to absorb any pressure and keep finding and this proves him very hard to beat. ARTFUL MAJOR (5) will be looking to bounce quicker at the start, but form suggests he doesn’t commence as quickly as the on topper, if he did the lead could be there for him too. OUR VINNIE (10) was good in the York Cup, will run a bold race here and can be put into it at some stage. JAMIE KIM (1) racing well but needs to begin quicker than JILL MACH (2) which is unlikely as she can step very well, both are novelty chances as they will be close enough to the speed. BLING IT UP (7) better for the run and will get home nicely. Tips: 4 10 5 2 Suggested Bet: STORMY VISTA (4) to win. Race 8 THE RIGHTEOUS (3) finds a suitable race, he can come out hard and look for the top here and after that there doesn’t appear to be a heap of pressure which will suit him perfectly, good run two starts ago and last start wasn’t run to suit, good chance. MADDY ROCKS (12) is suited in this grade but has a few traffic issues, has plenty of high speed to bring her into it late. ADMIRAL DARCY (8) is racing well enough and can feature, respect even from the draw. FIREPLAY (2) will be weary late but if he can cross, he can become a place chance. MYSTA MOON WALKER (6) and MY LITTLE BIG MAN (9) both novelty chances. Tips: 3 12 8 6 Suggested Bet: THE RIGHTEOUS/MADDY ROCKS to Quinella. Race 9 Intriguing race. JINGLING JEWELS (3) should cross to the pegs early and then have options with BLUE BLAZER (5) likely to charge out and they could go to war; I think BLUE BLAZER (5) could get him for speed in this and set up a big chance to get in the winners list. JINGLING JEWELS (3) a strong place chance from a sitting position. FLYIN DISCO (6) is a one paced type and will head forward and looks a major player in this grade. HOLY HECKA (8) is better saved for one run, disappointed in the Higgins Heat at Northam but this grade suits better. TRAVELBAN (7) is talented but is on return from an awkward draw. HAVEYOUMETTED (12) will be running on from the back of the field. Tips: 5 6 8 3 Suggested Bet: BLUE BLAZER (5) to win. Race 10 LINCOLN LOVER (7) has had both runs in the breeze since coming to WA and looks a high-speed horse, so performances have been good considering the luckless positioning. Looks a suitable race and can break through for his first WA win here. MY MACHANE (5) hit the line well last time out and has the draw advantage, will run a big race in this. STRONG THE STRIKER (2) has shown glimpses of brilliance on more than one occasion but has also been disappointing on others, tricky horse to work out but his best is good enough to feature. MAJOR MOVES (3) is highly talented but still learning the caper, good test for him. RAVENOUS (1) a place chance. Tips: 7 5 3 2 Suggested Bet: LINCOLN LOVER (7) to win. Market Market
