Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on February 9, 2021February 9, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SECRET PLAN is an excitement machine. Made his debut on a soft6 when settling back over 1000m at Belmont Park and simply unleashed late to win soft. At his second start he went round odds on in a hot 3 year old field which contained eventual Listed winning and Victoria bound filly Kissonallforcheeks when unable to make up the ground. His recent trial was as good as they get and this isn’t a deep field. TRIPLE MISSILE was in the same trial and looks the obvious quinella horse. He is super talented and capable of making his presence felt over the Autumn. COMMAND FORCE has consistently trialled well. HIGH PRECISION went well on debut. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – SECRET PLAN WIN RACE 2 PETITE LA FEMME seems to be enjoying the 3kg claim of Madi Derrick. Not much of her but she is going well and last start was almost a career best effort when finishing off hard late. Proven on wet tracks, drawn soft and gets her chance in an evenly graded maiden. MY HIDDEN JOURNEY has lots of raw ability. If he was drawn a gate he would be the clear top selection, loved his trial, great race form, but where does he get? STARLIFT ran well on debut and now Pike takes over. CABLE BOY had little luck on debut and ran through the line. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – PETITE LA FEMME EACHWAY RACE 3 NUHAD had her first start for LK Fernie Racing and ran a ripper in a 60+ when chasing high speed mare Time to Sizzle into third. Drops back to a C1, comes out running to get across the face of the field and if she can find the fence she’ll be hard to run down. THE ITALIAN JOB resumes without a trial and was a first-up winner last preparation with weight. Always shown ability and with Pike aboard will have plenty of eyes on him. HOT ZED rounded them up impressively last start. Always wary of the form when they descend on them with the rail out midweek. Can sometimes be enhanced to the eye. MYSTIC LOVE is better suited back into a C1 and is going well. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – NUHAD WIN RACE 4 IN THE BOAT simply picks himself here. Was crunched at the shorts on debut when going round at $1.28 and making his four rivals look second rate, including subsequent winner Hot Zed. Then was really thrown in the deep end after a few minor set backs when contesting a 3 year old plate that contained Kissonallforcheeks. Was coming again on the line and steps to 1200m and comes back sharply in grade into an all age C1. No flash price but should be far too classy. JAY DEE is going super and her last four efforts all rate well enough to be in the finish here. PURE DYNAMITE is getting closer and closer to another win. ANOSHAR has shades reattached after a flat performance last start. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 8 – 11 Suggested Bet – IN THE BOAT WIN RACE 5 ROSSO TEMPESTA was sent to the front by Paul Harvey two starts ago when dominating the race from on speed. Then hit a C1 which contained emerging youngsters Double Spice and Castillo Del Lago when finishing a floundering fourth. Gets out to a mile, reunites with Paul Harvey, should find the front without challenge and with all eyes on the Cerise and White pair he may get out to an eachway quote worth a speck. SPRITELY STAR won well last start and has always looked a filly who would get better and better out in trip. REAL PASSION required every ounce of Chris Parnham’s vigour to get home two starts ago and then drifted uncontrollably last start when never getting into the race. TICK ALONG is fresh and can sit just off Rosso Tempesta. Numbers: 1 – 11 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – ROSSO TEMPESTA EACHWAY RACE 6 MAROCCHINO looks to have stuck the perfect conditions to break back through. He is an absolute swimmer, if you go through his wet track form it is excellent. Third-up, blinker (singular) on, Chris Parnham on and drawn to sit leader’s back or three back the fence and do no work. Great run fresh at 1200, chased hard over 1400m from an impossible position last time out. Looks ready. BEAUCOUNT is the kind of horse who is always a winning chance in this grade and especially when he can control the tempo. TINSNIP has trialled far better this preparation than in recent campaigns. MISTY LAD was stiff last start when tramping wide throughout. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – MAROCCHINO WIN RACE 7 BELLA’S IDOL has been going far better than it may read on paper. Booming winner six starts ago, did way too much work five starts ago, missed the kick and tramped deep four starts ago, saddle slipped three starts ago, ran home powerfully late from off the speed two starts ago and then contested a race which was probably beyond him last start in 78+ grade. Well placed, well drawn, proven in the conditions. Ticks plenty of boxes. PUSH TO PASS is a 72+ winner this preparation and finds himself in a 66+ with a winnable weight. BOLD SUCCESS has a senior rider on for the first time in ages and his most recent staying attempt was excellent. CELTIC DIVA was bitterly disappointing last start. Worth forgiving. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – BELLA’S IDOL WIN RACE 8 SHE’S ENCHANTED will be the best of the day for many a Western Australian. Lightly raced mare, soft6 winner, 60+ Graduation winner who resumes in a 54+, trialled softly at Lark Hill, has form around Bright Diamond, Mood Swings, Boomtastic and We’ve Got Dreams, and gets in with only 56kg after the claim. Drawn to lead, controls and on paper – wins. HOLY GHOST smashed the clock in a recent Belmont Park trial. Is versatile but regardless the gate is tough to navigate. GRAND DESIGN may not be a 1000m mare but her form is strong for a race like this. REQUISTION is flying but will likely settle last or deep. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 1 – 11 Suggested Bet – SHE’S ENCHANTED WIN RACE 9 DOWNFORCE has hit a real purple patch of form. Ran a solid race in 60+ company three starts back behind Excellent Dream and then was plunged when dropped astutely back in grade into a C3 when scoring a barnstorming last to first victory. Last start looked gone at the 600 but found another gear late when finishing third in a 66+ and now again drops back into C3 company. CHIEF ARCHER continues to get under the guard. He has a powerful turn of acceleration when getting a soft run in transit. SHEIKH IT is undefeated after two and resumes without a trial. Hasn’t beaten much but has done it in style. SIMONELLY is building and loves a dog fight in the wet. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 12 Suggested Bet – DOWNFORCE WIN RACE 10 MODERATOR is now third-up into the preparation and put the writing on the wall with a massive effort last start at Geraldton. Gets in well after the luxurious claim for Laqdar Ramoly, is a two time wet track winner and has been racing like he is looking for 1800m. CONQUERED ZONE positions up from the gate and does no work in the run. Dangerous from that position. MELARAB can’t draw a gate and can’t quite find his second victory. SAFE TO MAKEUP has definitely improved since behind dropped back from the staying trip. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – MODERATOR WIN Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 1,2,3,4 5 1,2,3,12 1,2,3,4,8,9 Market Market
