Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on May 6, 2025May 6, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MAGNIQUE resumed in a C1 and went around a warm $2.20 favourite but was not able to reel in stablemate Anaballistic. This 3 year old 0MWLY is just as awkward for her being draw barrier 7 of 7 so again you would expect she goes back and tries to sweep past them. Not an easy task but she’s a filly with upside. DANCEWITHME has now trialled really well in two separate preparations. Think she’ll be popular in betting and gets every chance on the fence. THE CALABRESE still looks big and raw and does things wrong. There’s a motor there though. THE AGENCY has always shown something. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – MAGNIQUE WIN RACE 2 SOCIAL AFFAIR has finished 3.5L off Awesome Boy (susbsequent Saturday winner) and Shamillian Miss, second to Mangifera and most recently second to Across Generations. Again drawn really awkwardly but she can sustain a run and if she finds three deep cover likely makes her run alongside the fav. Winnable with the right run. FAST HARRY is that likely favourite even after going down at $1.40 first-up at the hands of Cantrix. Was a day at Pinjarra that it was near impossible to make ground – so the run was better than it looks. THINK LIKA WINNER has returned well. ROCKING IN VEGAS has some talent. Numbers: 10 – 6 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – SOCIAL AFFAIR EACHWAY RACE 3 CLASSIC IMPACT finds the most winnable race of her 14 start career. So far this campaign she has had four runs: 3x 3 year old 0MWLY and 1x 0MWLY – she’s run into multiple time winners like Main Act, Amarlime, Masterly and Dug Another Hole in recent runs and carries the same weight here in a maiden. Great opportunity to pinch one. LONGWAY TO THE TOP improves with race experience and should hold a spot over 1400. WOLFMAN is quite one paced. ALL FIRED UP a watch for the new yard. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – CLASSIC IMPACT WIN RACE 4 LORD SHIVA has his first start for new trainer Michell Pateman and he’s a trainer renowned for using the phrase “let fast horses be fast”. Think that they might be on a jump and run mission here with him, especially considering he’s first-up, no trial. Had five runs last prep at an average SP of $2.15 – market loves him. COSTAZITA hasn’t raced since January 2024. He’s the best horse in the race by lengths – it’s just trusting him off such a long break. Trial was good. ANABALLISTIC won well fresh. PRECAST a watch at his WA debut. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – LORD SHIVA WIN RACE 5 ADMIRE THE GIRL was all the rage at her return to racing off the back of a slick trial win. She didn’t get out until the 150m marker down the straight and then worked through her gears impressively to record an extending 1L win. She’s a Saturday filly in the making. ACROSS GENERATIONS is another 3 year old who takes on the older horses and another who will be a Saturday animal in the coming weeks. Has come back better since being gelded. CRYPTIC JOY still has bar plates (front) on. That’s a concern. COUNTESS OF KENNA was annihilated in betting last start but couldn’t go with classy 3 year old Patron Express late. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – ADMIRE THE GIRL WIN RACE 6 SPORTS TALK is always thereabouts when they can find a C3 for him. Three back he finished a head off Playing Games and since then he’s raced in 60+ Graduation and 0MWLY company, including a near dead heat with Dialling two back. He can carry the weight, he can ride the speed and he can win this. L’IL CAPRI burst her way through traffic to win very impressively last week. Reproduces the turn of foot and she’ll be hard to hold out. SO NATAYA draws a barrier for the first time in her preparation and is more than capable. BARECOVE ROCK won his maiden like a horse who could go on with it. Runner-up was a plunge winner last week too. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SPORTS TALK EACHWAY RACE 7 AMAZING CHEAT never got into the contest first-up and then was a huge improver second-up when going under by only half a length behind Famous Dain. From the barrier Joey Azzopardi should be able to keep her within striking distance in a race with a genuine tempo (The Hill Tribe, Polyvanova, Pure Obession, Mistress Of War). Right map. PURE OBSESSION went straight into a 60+ Grad after winning his maiden which suggests the stable has time for him. THE HILL TRIBE had to do way too much work early last start. POLYVANOVA might be stretched at 1600m? Numbers: 5 – 4 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – AMAZING CHEAT EACHWAY RACE 8 TOURETTO is proving a hard horse to catch but even in defeat his last two efforts behind Dialling / Sports Talk (goes around in Race 6) and then behind Dug Another Hole (since second to Late Arrival) are good enough to suggest he’s the one to beat here. He’ll get back so worth monitoring conditions throughout the day – if they’re swooping: jump on, if they’re not: jump ship. MANAVENDRA drops out of the Geraldton and Albany Cups. He’s fit and his 1600m form earlier in the prep was actually really good. BAY STREET was given a 10/10 and fell in at York. STRIKING FELLA has been a great acquisition for Peter Bamford. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – TOURETTO WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,6 2,4,5,6,8 1,3,4,5,8 2,4 Market Market
