Scott Embry’s Thursday Pinjarra Preview Posted on December 9, 2025December 9, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 AITCH MONTANA gave plenty of cheek at 100-1 behind Admire Astra and then showed it was no fluke when only 3L off Nintymilestraight (now Stakes placed to Hot and High) and subsequent winner Awesome Force (with Refemme No Angel a further length behind her too). Gets her chance in a thin race. CAWARRA was better last start over 1400m behind Refemme No Angel and we’ll see stablemate Pembeton back up off 7 days out of that event into an 1800m maiden on Wednesday. MYSTIC CHAOS was coming out of a moderate performance at Albany but held her own behind a nice horse in Seven Candles. DREAM STAR was beaten 5.5L in that same race but draws better and gets Pike. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – AITCH MONTANA WIN RACE 2 LADY KIKI went around at 20-1 last start but was a significant improver behind lightly raced filly Take A Leaf. Watching the replay of her debut she actually wasn’t too bad at 1100m behind Door Buster and looks like she’ll only get better with ground. These first two maidens are extremely thin and she looks to get her chance to break through provided she can overcome a tricky alley. RARE HONOR has shown glimpses from time to time and the effort behind La Excellent last start was another of those examples. BRIGHTITHOMEALABAMA has a set of shades on and might be able to roll forward in a race without much speed. WOLFMAN is very one paced and was never suited to fence in run at Gero. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – LADY KIKI WIN RACE 3 RADIANT LIGHT went under as an easing $2 favourite last start but happy to forgive because he looks like he’s too new and immature to understand what leading is all about and will be a better horse ridden with a sit. Has finished second to King of Light on a Saturday, has finished within a head of C1 winner Dominatus and the Nintymilestraight form is holding up brilliantly. We go again. BY THE WOOD is a Wootton Bassett filly out of star mare Fabergino and was plunged on debut. She didn’t look comfortable that day but she had shown plenty in her trial. Big watch. XELCIMUS is a nightmare ride at the moment, doing everything wrong and yet still running well. HOPE TO ADMIRE has come back well and will win one soon. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – RADIANT LIGHT WIN RACE 4 TORA BORA will find this lengths easier than the 2 year old races that she has contested and then maiden behind Flash Dancer in town. Apart from Race 3 the maidens are extremely weak on Thursday and quite simply if she’s going to win one in the metro/provincial area it’s this. BACKCHATTING has always trialled really well and this preparation is no different. Has a wide gate and a negative racing pattern but there’s ability there no doubt. SPANGLEDSTAR did go around $1.75 in a 1400m maiden only three back and the winner of her recent trial (Offshore) won well last Sunday. VIVA MARCONI was beaten fair and square at Geraldton in a country maiden last start but at least the winner has won again (In Situ). Numbers: 9 – 5 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – TORA BORA WIN RACE 5 HURRICANE HARLEY has come back in outstanding order this time around. First-up over 1000m covered plenty of ground and ran second to Like Clockwork (races Wednesday at Ascot) and then second-up again parked three deep the trip and then simply proved way too good and way too powerful for rivals, skipping away for a near 2.5L win. Looks a nice horse in the making. CANTRIX led and won a Pinjarra maiden beating Saturday type Our Paladin Al on debut and then backed it up with a barnstorming runner-up performance to Mighty Hosanna from a mile off them showing both promise and versatility. Like the way she goes about it too. CALATHINITE beat Brave Wasp in his maiden. Work in progress. GANGAJANG could bounce back if leading. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – HURRICANE HARLEY WIN RACE 6 OUR NEMESIS is showing some consistency for about the first time in his life. There’s never been any doubts over his talent, you don’t win 5 from 16 without it, but he was a horse that you’d struggle to catch because on occasion he’d be beaten out of sight (beaten 9+L on four separate occasions). This prep has been relatively smooth sailing and he seems to really run for Tash Faithfull. CLASSIC ROGUE is rarely seen in this 0MWLY grade and at this stage of his career it’s clearly where he belongs. Winnable for him. NO PEER was actually a handy run first-up behind Fast Harry in a 60+ Grad. HESKET has slowly but surely been improving again recently. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – OUR NEMESIS WIN RACE 7 BATTLE COMMANDER gives returning apprentice Cassey Martinan a genuine look in at a first ride winner. Cass hasn’t ridden since a fall at Pinjarra on 1 December 2024 so after a full 12 months on the sidelines it’s great to see her back in the saddle and Paul Jordan has the horse absolutely flying. He nearly led and won a 0MWLY 1600 two back and then last start from the breeze was only found out late at 1800m. Back in distance, back in grade and should lead unopposed. SHAZAIR is relatively lightly raced and looks to have a bit of a future as a mid-week style staying type (or better in time). ONLY EYES FOR HIM caught the eyes two back and then covered too much ground at Gero. BONDI BAY drops right back in grade as he looks to recapture some form. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – BATTLE COMMANDER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4,5,8,9 2,3 1,2 1,4 Market Market
