Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on September 2, 2025September 2, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SCENIC GEORGE and XENTARO are both accepted in the C1 1000 on Wednesday at Belmont Park so we’ll need to wait and see who starts where, but even if they start here going to side up with PRINCE who ran right away from them on the Fibre Sand and showed it was no fluke with a minor placing to Niccimota who has now won a 60+ Graduation at Belmont. SCENIC GEORGE is 3 year old 62+ placed and has had excuses recently in tougher races than this. SEEYOUATTHESESSION can lead or sit, he’s got versatility and was a solid debut for the new yard. XENTARO might well end up here to avoid Urquharts Bluff again. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – PRINCE WIN RACE 2 CELEBRITY ANGEL comes through a trial behind Eternal Wine (popular in Race 5) and beat home Media Mogul (goes around in Race 1 at Belmont Wednesday) and think that the trial form will hold up and be worth following. Only 53.5kg as a 3 year old filly taking on the lder maidens and happy to side up with her on debut. SPICY THANG was scratched a month ago so has clearly had to work through and issue but she’s a jump and run filly with no weight on her back. SHIMARI and MAXINES WISH both have sets of shades going on but both are drawn awkwardly and concede weight to a couple of sharp fillies. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – CELEBRITY ANGEL WIN RACE 3 BONDI STAR was well found in betting at odds last start and ran really well behind Nine Ball. If Nine Ball is to win or run well in a C3 at Belmont on Wednesday then the form will stand out come Thursday afternoon. MISS VEUVE went around 200-1 on debut and was beaten 9.6L, however, the 2x 1450m trials have been super? Most recent trial was as good as (if not better) than Be Optimistic who a m98. SECRET INTENT has promised to win a race all campaign but just needs everything to go her way. RIBELLATO can slide forward and put himself into a commanding position. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – BONDI STAR WIN RACE 4 PRODUCTIVE put the writing on the wall first-up at Belmont when charging home into second behind now Saturday 3 year old winner My Authoritah and then never got into the contest on the Fibre Sand at Bunbury. Back to grass and out to 1400m. LUCKY MOON led and popped on debut at Pinjarra but each of his trials have been really good, including the most recent which was in sharp time at Lark Hill. LEAFICE travels really well in her races and from barrier 1 with 53.5kg will get every chance. AUTHORATIVE was $15 into $4.60 last start in a bizarrely aggressive market move. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – PRODUCTIVE WIN RACE 5 ETERNAL WINE was in a rial behind Rock Fest at her first public appearance and was looked after by Chris Parnham and then in the second trial she was pulled to the outside and showed a really nice turn of foot. She’s drawn to get a lovely run on debut and looks like a nice filly. RIPPER RUPERT was fighting outside his weight division last start in a Saturday 3 year old 1200. Only carries 1kg more back into a maiden and should be able to burn across into a spot. VIVALDA was a really quiet trial behind Dashing Diva and looked like she had plenty to offer. Big watch. TRUE FICTION finds this much easier than the 2 year old Saturdays. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 11 – 2 Suggested Bet – ETERNAL WINE WIN RACE 6 SNIPERS SON has more or less been on one big long campaign since breaking his maiden at Kalgoorlie back in October 2024. He’s had 4x freshens since then (69 days, 36 days, 47 days, 63 days) and been extremely consistent throughout that period. If he can reproduce his runner-up performance from two back when splitting Riva Aquarama and subsequent winner Great Edition he’ll go close here. CARAWAY caught the eye at trials and is the beneficiary of a 4kg claim being a smaller type mare. TALK TO WYN leads and kicks hard into the corner. WHAT’S THE POINT is double accepted Wed/Thurs. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – SNIPERS SON WIN RACE 7 MANHATTAN STRIP just loves Northam. He won a C5 1300 here first-up, he won a C5 1400 here two starts back and now he’s back again dropping out of a 66+ into a C5 1300. 3.4L behind Cool Memory, Terratif and Hostile Talk is the best form in the race and he’s a proven weight carrier. MISS WALL STREET looked like being a nice acquisition for Mack Hall’s yard and got the chocolates last start at Kalgoorlie. The win had more merit than it reads on paper too because they really struggled to make ground. BONDI PLUNGE is no world beater but she’s extremely honest and rarely run a bad race. ISHKUR scratched Wednesday to save for this. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – MANHATTAN STRIP WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,6 1,9,11 1,3,5 1,3,6 Market Market
