Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on September 2, 2025September 2, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SAAM TIME LUCKY broke his maiden over 1200m at Belmont two starts ago when sustaining a run and then went to a 3 year old 1400 and was matching motors late with My Authoritah and subsequent winner Country God. Back to mid-week grade and only has 6 rivals to wind up over the top of. FINE STAR resumed down the 1000m straight and ran well considering how aggressive the late betting drift was. Out quickly in trip. HASANI got a long way off them in a fast run race at his first start for Grant & Alana Williams. He’ll be kept very safe in betting. MEDIA MOGUL looks like a nice type in the making. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SAAM TIME LUCKY WIN RACE 2 URQUHARTS BLUFF incorrectly raced in the 1000m maiden last Thursday at Northam, but he did beat home key rival Xentaro at levels weights by a near 2L margin. 6 days later they clash again and Urquharts Bluff actually meets him half a kilo better at the weights. They may have figured out how to ride him in the process as well, jump and run. SURFSIDE SESSION was a great trial and looked like he was ready to go to the race and win first-up. 60kg and a tricky draw just dents the confidence. SCENIC GEORGE and XENTARO are both double accepted for Wednesday and Thursday. Interesting to see who scratches. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – URQUHARTS BLUFF WIN RACE 3 PLAYING FREE has the Saam Time Lucky / Whos Bent form from two starts ago at 1200m and then took a sit at 1400m when unable to build any momentum at Pinjarra last time out. Forgive and double figures looks a big price? RISING FAME has the best race form by panels but has come under a lot of pressure in both trials and will have to work across early. HEDAWOOD makes his debut as a 4 year old and looks a chance at an eachway price. Liked the trial behind Kimberley Currency (won Sunday at Carnarvon) and should get every chance from a good draw. BUDERIM might be the most talented of all of these but does a lot wrong. Numbers: 14 – 11 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – PLAYING FREE EACHWAY RACE 4 SILENT ALERT was the one that every punter in WA wanted to be on first-up and then he was an alarming late drifter in betting before putting in an inglorious return beaten a near 4L margin. 4 weeks later he’s back in grade, he’s out in trip and he’s going to be near double the price. Will those with financial and emotional scars follow up? TEABISCUIT runs for Holly Nottle and is in career best form. Only 54.5kg and in front for a long way. Big danger. ELITEONE ran into some traffic at a luckless return. RAINLINE didn’t come up last prep. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – SILENT ALERT WIN RACE 5 PAT’S LAST BANG has clearly come back bigger and better than last campaign and in recent weeks it has paid to follow the very much in form Ash Maley stable. She will need to burn across early but she posted a big time figure in her dominant last start 3L win and goes around eachway. NINE BALL was rolled at $1.24 first-up but bounced back brilliantly at Pinjarra when ridden cold. Expect that will become her new racing pattern and that she will more than measure up in this C3 company. MILLSTEE is a last start winner this track/distance/grade and must be respected. BATTLE COMMANDER is on the quick back-up after a fast finishing third to Great Edition and is both consistent and versatile. Numbers: 10 – 9 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – PAT’S LAST BANG EACHWAY RACE 6 NOBLE CONNECTION didn’t fire a shot last start at 2200m, beaten nearly 15L. He’s back in grade and more importantly back in distance to the 1650m. Won first-up at 1400, second-up at 1500m and then was a sensational effort on a day where it was impossible to make ground third-up at 1600m at Pinjarra. Forgive one out of character flop and he deserves favouritism. IDYLLIC RULER only finished half a length behind him in the Rock In Wonder race and meets him 1kg better. BECALOTTI was outstanding fresh and covered plenty of ground second-up. STATE OF FURY is up in grade but has a senior on with no weight. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 11 Suggested Bet – NOBLE CONNECTION WIN RACE 7 OPAL TANGO was huge last start when no better than three deep the trip, no cover and then pushed four and five wide into the corner and yet still was taking late ground off Royal Law and State of Fury after being entitled to put up the white flag and fade out of it. Drawn far better here in what looks a thinner race. DECISION MAKER never got into the contest in a Westspeed Platinum last start. Prior fourth in a C3 behind Kervette and subsequent winners Worcester and Barecove Rock reads up brilliantly. WHAT’S THE POINT improved sharply. ROMANTIC RULER hasn’t run a bad race in his life. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – OPAL TANGO EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,5,6 1,3,5,9,10 1,2,3 2,3,4,10 Market Market
