Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on November 6, 2024November 6, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BLACK ORA is the half-sister to the ill-fated Gimcrack Stakes runner-up and Natasha Stakes third placegetter Assetro by Playing God. She is on debut here in a small field 1000m maiden and while she looks like she’ll ultimately do her best work over further expect that she’ll be very hard to hold out on debut. Loved her trials and the booking of William Pike takes the attention. SNIP THE STRAP and LUCKY I AM both look like jump and run types who will burn along in front. CAPORETTO next best off his 400m jump out. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – BLACK ORA WIN RACE 2 HOUSEWIFE finished second to Nickelplay at her return to racing and with the luckless Cashel Palace winning in a C1 out of that race on Tuesday at Ascot the form stands out. She’s drawn to get all the favours along the fence and should be going close to breaking through. Can stalk the every move of main danger Northern Diamond. NORTHERN DIAMOND has trialled super on multiple occasions now including her most recent 6L trial win when powering clear in the blinkers. AMARLIME has charged to the line in both starts to date. KIDDING ME trialled well but failed badly on debut. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – HOUSEWIFE WIN RACE 3 LINE OF THOUGHT finished third behind Another Love and Gi Gi Pops before two starts later finishing second behind Gi Gi Pops and beating home subsequent winner Venus King. Recent trial was solid behind Red Can Man’s full brother Daytona Pete and she resumes with 54kg in a relatively thin all age maiden. STAR PROPHET backs up off 8 days after another honest effort into fifth behind Cable Rock. Prior run to Pond Master off a freshen was good. DELTA LASS went around 150-1 on debut but ran well after behind held up at a crucial stage. SPIRITART goes straight to the races off a 950m trial where CJP really rode her through the line and past the post. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – LINE OF THOUGHT WIN RACE 4 MIDNIGHT EXPRESS makes his debut off the back of two handy trials over 1000m at Belmont. The first of them was beaten 4.4L by Tactics and then he sharply improved in the second of them when holding his own behind Art Session (two from two at trials). This is not the deepest race and the Webster yard is going very well. MARKET PLAYER extended powerfully in his most recent trial win at Lark Hill and was scratched from Tuesday at Bunbury to save for this. WHAT’S THE POINT is very raw but can give plenty of cheek. HOLDOUT showed a bit in his initial prep. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – MIDNIGHT EXPRESS WIN RACE 5 LIEN HYPHEN is still looking to break through at start number 18 but she’s racing in career best form. Her three runs this preparation have all been excellent: second to The Merryman (goes to the Fairetha), fourth behind Diamond Dancer and subsequent winner War Matters, and second to Lethal Weapon. Deserves to win one. HIGHLY SPOKEN was bolting leader’s back last Thursday and couldn’t get out. 7 days later they put the shades on and find a race without a natural leader. SUMMER’S LEGACY found the line well and gave the impression she was looking for further. KING MAHUTA wants ground. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 11 – 4 Suggested Bet – LIEN HYPHEN WIN RACE 6 CAPRE OMNIA looks placed and mapped to win this. There’s plenty of speed with Cross Statement / Oregon Hiker / This’ll Show Ya and The Great Hoya all likely to vie for the fence early and that should allow Steve Parnham to slot in behind that speed battle and enjoy the run of the race. Great trials, solid return behind Crippalenko (since third in a Prince Of Wales) and has a good second-up card. Right place, right time. OREGON HIKER beat Norich two back. Just need to forgive last start when something clearly wasn’t right. CROSS STATEMENT and THE GREAT HOYA are both honest campaigners. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – CAPRE OMNIA WIN RACE 7 IDYLLIC RULER trialled brilliantly behind Siren Assault over 1000m for a horse who was always going to do his best at 1400m+. Led first-up and was gunned down along his inside by Kelora who franked that form by winning again on Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup Day program at Ascot. Fitter second-up and looks like he’ll able to the front and control the race. AUDIO BOY had been building towards his last start win and can go on with it now. WOZZECK is not an easy horse to catch (or ride) but he’s racing well this preparation. DARK LOOKS is an enigma. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – IDYLLIC RULER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,5,6,7,9 3,6,11 1,2,3 1,2,4 Market Market
