Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on April 6, 2021April 6, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DENZOE is an interesting filly to try and line up. Beaten 7L in a 3yo 0MWLY behind talented 3 year olds Standout Rose, Miss Vasari and Cable Boy, beaten less than 4L in a C1 1800 behind honest midweek types Trisuem, Frequent Friar and Tick Along and then was thrown in the deep end in the WA Oaks when beaten at the 800. Drops 4kg, blinkers added, back in trip, back to a Geraldton maiden. Could run a race? DYNAMITE ALF is likely staying in the region, very rare for Alan Mathews to send one up. Form when last in work wasn’t the worst. GOT LUCKY comes from probably the strongest local form reference behind Playing Up and should only improve with experience. BUCKEYE BULLET was given every mortal hope by Yuill on debut when pinching the first 800m 12L slower than average. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – DENZOE WIN RACE 2 REGAL SUN had his first start for the Hammarquist yard last start and was finishing off well after travelling strongly at the back of the field and hitting the line as well as any of them. This is a definite eachway the field type of race and he looks one of many winning chances. PASSPORT has done it tough at most starts in a short career to date. Drawn soft and gets the right run. DEVELERA PARK promised to win a race all preparation in Esperance. Finds a new home and races 8 weeks between runs. THE CHASER didn’t fire a shot first start in Gero. Forgive. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – REGAL SUN EACHWAY RACE 3 STARTRADE looked vulnerable last start from an awkward draw and was still plunged in betting. Ran out of his skin to get within a length of Wildonbrook and Midnight Rocket and now draws far better. Alan Kennedy makes the trip to Geraldton and should give him the run of the race. Emerging talent in the area and looks the one they have to beat. MIDNIGHT ROCKET beat home Startrade last start but concedes him 2.5kg with the senior rider going on. Has definitely recaptured some of his old form and the way he’s going he’ll make a race of it. DASHING IMAGE didn’t seem to handle things at Dongara. Backing up and well drawn. BITOVEMU can always flash late. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – STARTRADE WIN RACE 4 TRADE TALK might sneak under the guard returning to Kim Anderson and his favourite Utakarra surface. Has come back down to a c86 rater after starting the preparation as a c91 rater (and winning first-up). Deep into the preparation but has won with 64kg under Alan Kennedy and simply grows a leg when he returns to the mid-west. He can make his presence felt. KENYLUCK is always hard to run down. 1200m is more of a test for him than 1100 and the handicapper is starting to catch up with him, especially in this grade. Will take running down but is starting to come back to them. FETCH MORE AMMO is the new kid on the block in this grade and has to overcome a wide gate and the drop back in trip. ARABIAN RICHES is never far from the action. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – TRADE TALK WIN RACE 5 SIGNIFICANT HERO has returned a different horse this preparation. Barnstorming first-up winner when descending upon Wednesday and Foxhood and then second up returned an even higher rating in defeat behind Startrade. That form will be seen earlier in the program and if Startrade gets the chocolates this will be the second leg of the all-up. FOXHOOD won well last start but this is harder. Should get the run of the race from the inside draw. SLY AS A FOX made the step from maiden into C2 company well. DELAGO DEHERO comes back sharply in trip. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – SIGNIFICANT HERO WIN RACE 6 BUSH ICON was solid at her return to racing before heading back to trials with an impressive 1100m trial victory. Was 30 days between runs into a 1600m C2 when dominant late in proceedings. This is the same grade, only 1.5kg up in the weights and drawn the inside gate to box seat. Hard to be against here on recent form. CASUAL TRADE could well find the top in a race with no speed at all. Improver. BANDALERA MISS had been the target of speck money for a few runs in a row. Showed there’s something under the hood last start. PLAYING UP let down powerfully in maiden grade last start when getting clear. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – BUSH ICON WIN RACE 7 MYCROFT was climbing out of the ground late last start and showed that he is well and truly on track as one of the best local hopes for the 2021 Geraldton Cup. Proven weight carrier, proven stayer and has been going well all season. Needs something to take him into the race at some stage but if he gets the right cart into it will be finishing hard. MARXIAN is the X-Factor horse heading towards the cup. Was beaten over 6L first-up but the run had merit. Might be going off one start too soon but keep him safe. BIG SHOT PADDY really appreciated being put into the race by Graham last start. Anticipate similar tactics. BOMBAY STYLE is as consistent as they come and drawn a much kinder gate here. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – MYCROFT WIN Quaddie (R4 – R7) 2,3,521,3,7,81,2,3,4,8,10 Market Market
