Scott Embry’s Thursday Esperance Preview Posted on December 24, 2024December 24, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DUBAI’S DAUGHTER has had a few trainers and now finds herself down in the Bay Of Isles with new trainer (and the region’s premier trainer) Josh Brown. Her three runs for Trevor Andrews were all solid in the metro/provincial area and think on the fresh side she’ll take beating here. I HAD A DREAM and FLAVIOS both ran very encouraging minor placings in the last two meetings and all three of these gallopers will be coming out from tricky barriers. Likely comes down to best ride wins. Not much between the trio. CLASSIC CODE next best for the loyal Gary Burger followers. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – DUBAI’S DAUGHTER WIN RACE 2 KEEP A KNOCKIN’ was beaten 4L at he first meeting behind Kimberley Rose and was disappointing. Big improver second-up and loomed large late outside of plunge winner West Coast Warrior. This race looks ideal for him third-up at the 1400m and Brayden Gaerth should have him poised and ready to strike. FLASH INVADER is well travelled and should be finishing off well. He’s really improved with Carey Martin and the horse who beat him last start in Geraldton has won again since. TANKSFORTHEMEMORY hasn’t reproduced the run from three back since. SUGARED UP a watch fresh. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet – KEEP A KNOCKIN’ WIN RACE 3 LUCKY SUE was back to her best at her first start in Esperance. Didn’t fire a solitary shot in Kalgoorlie but looked much more her old self last start and if she can reproduce that same run then she’ll be hard to hold out late. FIRST LAW finished third to Cocoon Bay and subsequent winner Mungo Jerry last start. That’s the right form and think he’s a big danger. HABIB enjoyed a great campaign when last in work but can take a run. HOT PUDDIN didn’t go a yard at his first run in Esperance. No Harro no good? Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – LUCKY SUE WIN RACE 4 DEBONNAIRE went on a winning spree at Kalgoorlie that extended 5 runs and saw him go from a C2 galloper to a winner of a Palace Hotel The Goldrush and then a favourite in the Coolgardie Sprint. If he turns up at his best he’s very hard to beat. BOOZEROO is the proven local commodity who didn’t let punters down first-up. He’s a ripper. STORM COMMANDER should be a really nice horse for these 70+ races at Esperance. AL QUEPONE improves fitness wise second-up after having a long time off racing. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – DEBONNAIRE WIN RACE 5 SHEZGOTTHALOT battled away in Kalgoorlie at the end of a long preparation and then was given a little freshen when returning to some form at Esperance finishing third behind Dawn Amnesty. This race lacks much depth and if she reproduces that run she’s the one to beat. MYTHICAL MISS had a few excuses first-up and the money suggested she was nearly ready to win. AURIEL went around a $4.60 chance at his WA debut and was beaten 32L. Tongue tie on and a month between runs. Watch. SECRICITY is capable of winning a C2, it’s just how barrier 1 and the inside area plays. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – SHEZGOTTHALOT WIN RACE 6 SAFE RAPPA was another big improver last start when finishing second to emerging talent True Chance. Thinking that’s the strongest form reference so going to follow through with Safe Rappa and suggest he can go one better here. WEST COAST WARRIOR has had two starts for new trainer Gary Burger and they’ve both been excellent. Just forget his prior form altogether. PURE QUALITY has to overcome the barrier 1 hurdle but is ready now. TAK GOES BOOM is racing well. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – SAFE RAPPA WIN RACE 7 ELITE FIGHTER looks like he will keep winning on his way back though the grades. He was once in the mid c60s in terms of handicap ratings and he got himself right back down into the high 50s, which meant that new trainer Josh Brown had plenty of wiggle room as long as he could rejuvenate him. He’s done exactly that and he’s going to be hard to beat again. KALLAROO and ANNIHILATOR have bounced between 58+ & 70+ grade throughout their careers and are both capable of upsetting the fav with the right run in transit. PASSION PRINCE is enjoying life in Espy. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – ELITE FIGHTER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,4 2,3,5,7,8 1,4,5 3 Market Market
