Scott Embry’s Thursday Albany Preview Posted on December 24, 2024December 24, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BENTLEY BEAU looks to have found his right race. Beaten 3L by Antique Queen last start over 1500m and now gets out to his most successful distance range. 5 starts track/distance for 3 wins and is drawn to get all the favours. BILLY JACK currently doesn’t have a rider, however, by my math Madi Derrick & Casey Hunter are sitting in the jockeys room and this would be a great ride. He’s going super for Ashleigh Woolett and racing like the 1940m is what he’s looking for. HEAR ME SING is classy when he’s right. ODDONEOUT is racing well. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – BENTLEY BEAU WIN RACE 2 STORMY’S SHOW got under the radar in the market place on debut and paid a ridiculously good price for a mare who had trialled quite well over 950m at Lark Hill. That was only her second public appearance and she should only be improving with more racing. This is a great chance for her to remain undefeated. SONG CYCLE had his first run for Bec Bayliss and finished second to Flick The Switch who has since won again. Big respect. SOSIPATRA is quick. WILEY GIRL was much better last start. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – STORMY’S SHOW WIN RACE 3 FOXMANIA was having his first start in WA for new trainer Indianna Weinert when third behind Cosmic Spirit and Point of Conflict. They’re both above average maiden types (and 3 year olds) and this race looks naturally easier without them. Drawn to get every chance and looks a big player here. BRANDBERG finished 2.4L behind My Idol last start and that will look like good form in time, just whether back in distance suits him? I LOVE LUCY A LOT wasn’t far behind Foxmania when they last met. BULLS EYE PERFECT next best. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – FOXMANIA WIN RACE 4 ELEGANT PEAK got home nicely into third behind My Idol last start and put the writing on the wall. Gets the weight relief as a 3y ear old filly taking on the older horses and on Boxing Day gains the services of the region’s premier rider in Tash Faithfull. OPTMIAL probably opens up nearly favourite in this event, however, there’s no jockey published and only 8 riders at the meeting. Unless something comes out he’s likely scratched no available rider. PARC IT HERE has gone well at odds in both runs so far. ARAFISIO is trying hard. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – ELEGANT PEAK WIN RACE 5 MAKIN PROPHETS had his first start (eventually) for Alan Smith and ran well into fourth behind Audrey Grace after being held up for the majority of the home straight. Expect he’ll have a following here out to the 1500m. SIR BEAR A LOT is about as consistent as they come. He’s no super star but he’ll be winning a C2 and then probably a 58+ in the coming months because he puts himself into a decent position and he gives 110%. SECRET TSONES has been building towards another win. FIGHT IN FLIGHT is capable on her day. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – MAKIN PROPHETS WIN RACE 6 FLICK THE SWITCH has done exactly that this preparation. She’s back bigger and better than 2023/24 and is racing her way quickly through the grades. Went to a 58+ 1100 last start with 57.5kg and won by nearly 2L. Prior to that she won over 1000 with 59.5kg. She’s just getting better and better? AUDREY GRACE should be able to safely measure up in this grade. She’s a genuine danger from a low draw. HOT CHATTER and FRANTIC WAR are both honest types who should be there abouts. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – FLICK THE SWITCH WIN RACE 7 MADAM KISSES has her first start in the region for new trainer Bec Bayliss and three starts ago on a Saturday finished half a length of highly progressive galloper Watch Me Rock and a fortnight later showed it was no fluke when finishing third behind Wubin Gold. Winner of a 1200m 0MWLY with 58kg only five starts ago. It’s all great form for this and she does no work from the draw. MORGS FREEMAN is a last start winner in this grade, but worth noting Kyra Yuill jumps off to partner Madam Kisses. EEVALINA gets every chance from the barrier and the Oxbridge form always stacks up. PEDAL POWER has found his right grade. He’s a lovely c70+ animal. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – MADAM KISSES WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 8 1,4 1,4 1,2,3,4 Market Market
