Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on September 9, 2025September 9, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BOLD FIGHT was actually a really good trial at Lark Hill on 11 August and got under the guard of the market early before meeting with good support late at odds ($61 into $14) and running home well into second behind Swingman. They stopped the clock 3.5L faster than maiden average so happy to follow the form reference and he looks even better suited stepping out to 1400m second-up. MOONSHINE QUEEN was well found on debut and only finished 2L off Swift Talker (Race 7 at Belmont Wednesday) and Exquisite Taste (Race 1 at Belmont Wednesday). SYLVA JACK looks like he’ll need ground (and time). DUKES SPIRIT finds this far easier than his debut race. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – BOLD FIGHT WIN RACE 2 PEARL KING trialled super at Lark Hill leading into his return and then got shuffled back to a difficult position in running before attacking the line strongly late. If Startling Star or Old Mate Henry win Race 1 at Belmont Wednesday or Line of Thought goes well in the C1 1400 then the form line will stand out. BONDI BUSINESS tracked up a hot tempo first-up and couldn’t go late. Thought it was a pass mark and the effort of a horse who simply got gassed in running. Interesting to note they also put a tongue tie on second-up. Don’t jump off just yet. ORDASHUS is getting very close now. SO MUCH SERENITY drops 5.5kg coming out of a 3 year old 0MWLY behind Rock Fest. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – PEARL KING WIN RACE 3 SPANK APPEAL had four runs last campaign including finishing in the minors to Sixinch Heels second-up and then splitting Pure Obsession and subsequent winner Shamilian Miss two starts later. Recent trial was alright and has the speed to get across from a tricky draw. Thin race and gets his chance. KING OF MUSTER scratched last Wednesday to save for this. Didn’t mind a few of his trials but has clearly had issues as a 5 year old on debut. EFFORTLESSLY takes on the older horses and has no weight, but does look like she’ll need the experience. QUICK AS SILVER has had a few preps and shown glimpses on occasion. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 11 – 2 Suggested Bet – SPANK APPEAL WIN RACE 4 TIP THE BOSS looks another above average Michael Lane debutante. Very similar to Eternal Wine last Thursday looks the kind of horse that they’ve looked after at trials and will be able to hold a spot from the barrier on debut and let down in the straight. LONG LAUGH was excellent on debut at odds behind Swingman and Bold Fight. He can run a cheeky race at odds again. TORONADO ROCKET finished off well at Northam over 13300m back in September and the runner-up in that race was Repeater who has since won 4 races. Scratched from Bunbury on 13 February so obviously had a set back in between campaigns. OLD CHAP finds this easier than his straight 1000 vs Desert Life/Fine Star. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – TIP THE BOSS WIN RACE 5 THIS’LL SHOW YA gets a 3kg weight swing on key rival (main danger?) Gold Vancouver with the claim of Holly Nottle. If they allow her to roll to the top and control the race then she’ll be very hard to run down. Take away her 1200m run and everything she’s produced this campaign is good enough to win. Great race for her. GOLD VANCOUVER was 31 days between runs and had pads going on in that event and yet was still the one that many punters wanted ($12 into $6). Racing like she wants 1100. THE GREAT HOYA didn’t come up last prep, he’s better than that. ANNAS BOY next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – THIS’LL SHOW YA WIN RACE 6 THREE GRAND is flying. Led and won a C3 1200 in slick time and then went to 1500m on the Fibre Sand and was only nabbed late by the stablemate One Punch. Think she’ll find herself in front and she’ll be there for a long way and typically Bunbury is leaders. SATURDAY SESH has come back bigger and better this preparation and box seats. OMERTA GRACE won two from give last campaign, a 1600m maiden and a 50+ 2000, so this will definitely be on the short side, especially considering he hasn’t raced since October 2024, however, his recent trial was really good? MY JIMMY has cost many punters plenty of cash this prep. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – THREE GRAND WIN RACE 7 BRIEF ROMANCE has her first start for new trainer Jason Miller and made an impression on debut when plunged in betting and cutting her way through the field for an impressive win. Beaten margins at her next two but has since spelled and has trialled up well enough at lark Hill. Gets a soft run along the fence line and has a turn of foot. BUNDABERG won his maiden by nearly 3L under Brad Parnham. Hasn’t run to anywhere near the same level since. GIRLS ON FIRE got too far out of her ground last start at 1400m. Back to 1200m here but will again concede them a head start. WEMBANYAMA is double accepted on Wednesday at Belmont and Thursday at Bunbury. He’s a watch whichever race Mack Hall runs him in. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – BRIEF ROMANCE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,10,11 1,2 1,3,7 1,2,5,8 Market Market
