Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on September 9, 2025September 9, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 EXQUISITE TASTE was first-up at 1300m on a Heavy and only got going in the last furlong. Straight out to a mile and should be tucked away in behind the speed ready to pounce on straightening. Hard to knock the CJP/Michael Grantham combination: last 180 days = 114 runners for 34 winners at 30% strike rate and 24% POT. OLD MATE HENRY will again get back and be winding up in the three and four deep line as it builds into the race from the 600. Certainly gives the impression that a step to 1650m will suit. TORQUE OF WAR draws a barrier to sit closer and his L600 split vs Exquisite Star was quite similar last start. MISS VEUVE has a level of ability but is very much still a work in progress. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – EXQUISITE TASTE WIN RACE 2 HOYA DESTROYER is a maiden in a C1 and will likely jump favourite. Loved the effort first-up behind My Authoritah and subsequent winner Productive, got to the line better than anything second-up in a leader dominated race behind Line Of Thought (form on show in Race 1 through Old Mate Henry and Startling Star) and now he’s finally drawn a barrier. No stars in this. PHAROAH SHOW has blinkers removed (again) and comes right back in grade. ALMAYA improved sharply second-up behind Sandfire Rose. Did get his preferred conditions but maps to get a soft run here. MAXWHOOSHTAPIN is first-up at 1400m with 60kg but should be able to slide forward. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – HOYA DESTROYER WIN RACE 3 LIPSTICK JUNGLE looks to have found another wonderful opportunity to break through for a deserved win. This preparation she has placed to Art Session, Yorga Pride / Snow God, Surround Me / Just Adorabelle and most recently Star Supreme after sitting wide throughout. Weakest opposition of the campaign and knocking on the door. MAVIS MYRTLE comes through a Westspeed Platinum behind form gallopers like Snow God and Diamond Dancer. LINE OF THOUGHT appreciated being ridden for speed last start. RIVERCREST MAGIC is going better than it reads on paper. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – LIPSTICK JUNGLE WIN RACE 4 WIN FOR BUSTER is raced by David Harrison and connections but trained by Grant & Alana Williams and from what he showed in the most recent 950m trial win he’ll take beating on debut. Love the way he travelled into the corner and then once balanced put an increasing margin on them in relatively sharp time. FINE STAR backs up off 7 days having finished within a head of Hasani and Saam Time Lucky. She’s now got a set of blinkers applied and Simon Miller has turned into a very sharp back-up operator, going at 23% over the last 12 months. JIMMY ANGEL did it tough last start behind a horse who remained undefeated on Saturday at $1.24. GUARD THE MULLAH was a flop in that event after two solid trials. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – WIN FOR BUSTER WIN RACE 5 KERVETTE went around $3.90 last start in a 66+ when finishing fourth behind Autumn Rebel and Saturday’s 66+ 1600m winner Odinaka. Prior to that she had two runs in WA for two emphatic victories and she’s now back in grade and back in distance into a far more suitable assignment. Like the placement, love the way she’s going. KIRALUI was $7 into $3 last start and unfortunately for punters had an interrupted passage in the home straight, unable to build a full head of steam. Enter W.Pike. GALAXY AFFAIR won well last start in a very similar race. HARBIN caught the eye last start but hasn’t won a race in a long while. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – KERVETTE WIN RACE 6 LEETRON won on debut at 1100m from the rear of the field and showed a nice turn of acceleration and then at his second career outing led and skipped clear to give Holly Nottle her first winner. Since then has sat three and four deep in a Grad (forgive) and struck a Heavy8 from leader’s back (forgive). Think he’s pretty handy and with the barrier we’ll get eachway. FLAGSHIP won second-up at 1200m last prep and this looks very winnable for him. WEMBANYAMA made an impression at his WA debut with a slashing second behind Sixinch Heels. CENTRE BOND has been costly: jumped under $5 his last 8 without winning. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – LEETRON EACHWAY RACE 7 WORCESTER is drawn barrier 10/13 but there’s not really any speed drawn underneath him? The only horse in the race with gate speed is Talk To Wyn and being out to 1650m for the first time you’d expect they’ll take a sit, which means that he may cross them quite comfortably and from there he’s hard to beat. All three wins are parking on speed and out grinding rivals and that looks the set up here. SWIFT TALKER won well on debut and as we’ve been seeing quite a lot over the last 6 months horses going from maiden to C3 are winning far more frequently than maiden to C1. RANDOM REWARDS is racing consistently well. THE ROOSTER is building into his prep nicely. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – WORCESTER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 6,8 5,6 1,2,3,4,5 1,7 Market Market
