Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on June 3, 2025June 3, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DECLARED INNOCENT is a 19 start maiden who will near certainly jump favourite care of the last start finishing effort behind Kermelia (races at Northam on Wednesday) and mainly the fact that William Pike sticks. Beware taking a short price on a heavily rain affected track about a long time maiden! AH KUM went to 2100m last preparation and ran well behind Choice Thinking. If it turns into a grind he’ll be up for the fight. HEZA GRUNT is knocking on the door and capable of taking a sit if others want the top. ALNAUD is one paced and grindy. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – DECLARED INNOCENT WIN RACE 2 WON FOR THE GIRLS won’t be heading down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra again any time soon! Was backed into $1.80 and ran around like a drunk over the concluding stages giving Willie Pike a nightmare ride. Back around a bend, drawn to box seat and going off the first-up run behind Lucky I Am (now a 3 year old 0MWLY victor) will be understandably popular. HEAVY METAL had genuine excuses last start. LK Fernie goes to blinkers and CJP. MAGICAL SEQUENCE ran really well on debut at Bunbury and has trialled nicely for her return. HOPE TO RULE didn’t look that comfortable down the straight. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – WON FOR THE GIRLS WIN RACE 3 JACKPOT BINGO has been up and down in distance this prep. 1200 to 1600 to 1800 to 2200 to 1600 and now back to 1400m. They’re trying everything to figure out exactly what he wants. Think the 1400 – 1600 is his sweet spot. SWEET SURRENDER has shades added for her Michael Grantham debut and the Cerise and White have been winning a lot of maidens recently. Good run on debut at Bunbury at odds. ASPHALT wasn’t disgraced on debut at 100-1 and looks like he’ll appreciate the extra ground. BRINGITHOMEALABAMA was scratched on Wednesday to save for this. Numbers: 1 – 11 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – JACKPOT BINGO WIN RACE 4 THE AGENCY has always had a spruik on him but is yet to really live up to the expectation. The runner-up performance to Yorga Pride does stick in the memory and considering it was over a month between his trial and his first-up start there has to be some improvement expected second-up. Visors added, maps well – gets another go. LAST SHOUT was super on debut at 40-1 and now has Pike added. TOP OF THE WALK travels like Lachie Neale but lets down like Lochie Taylor. Nearly out of chances. ENCHATED STAR has trialled well but is drawn poorly. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 1 – 13 Suggested Bet – THE AGENCY WIN RACE 5 L’IL CAPRI was given the quintessential William Pike ride last start, perfectly positioned close handy, peeling into the clear on straightening, kept balanced for as long as possible and asked to accelerate over the last 200m to victory. ZJP has big shoes to fill but this is a weak race. BAY STREET was 3L behind her and meets worse at the weights, however, he still keeps the senior rider which on a wet track is worth lengths. SHEEZA SHEILA and OISIN ran the quinella in a C1 last start and now both head into a C5 without any real weight relief. Sheeza Sheila broke her maiden on a Heavy which is a plus. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – L’IL CAPRI WIN RACE 6 SHOW THE WAY resumed in a 3 year old 62+ behind Elite Missile and subsequent 3 year old winner Pond Master. He now drops back into a C1 and after the Sharni Webster claim has only 58kg on his back. It’s a big show of confidence from Neville Parnham in his apprentice and the Bar Plates even come off as the cherry on top. LILLIAN only had one start in NZ and then was purchased by Peters Investments. They’ve got a good record with the Kiwi imports (think Luvnwar & Drakaina recently). Big watch. PSYCHO SISTA is back sharply in grade. PINGERS is much better suited here. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – SHOW THE WAY WIN RACE 7 TRUE PLAYER won a 1600m maiden and a 54+ 2000 when last in work, so no doubt he’ll get better into the campaign and better over further but by this stage of the day the track could be really heavy and that brings a fresh stayer like him right into the mix. AMARLIME has been consistently about the mark in the 3 year old 0MWLY races and has fitness on her side. She’s a nice bread and butter filly. KING HIT was only fair last start but this C3 is much easier than the 3 year old 62+ races he’s contested first-up and second-up. UNIVERSAL HOTNESS races on his home track, leads and comes back in grade. All positives. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – TRUE PLAYER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,7,13 2,5,6 1,4,6,8 1,3,4 Market Market
